The 5-seat family SUV market in Australia is hugely popular with nearly every manufacturer giving buyers something to choose from. This week we check out Hyundai's latest offering, the 4th generation Tucson in new N Line (sports package) trim to see how "Fun and Family Friendly" an everyday 5-seat SUV can be??
(With Special Thanks to @hyundaiaustralia for our test vehicle)

The services are every year, not every 6 months which is great. I love my petrol Tucson 1.6 litre. An awesome car all round.

The Diesel Highlander N Line is by far the “sweet spot” in this range. I just ordered one two weeks ago. Better than the petrol IMO.

You people who infer that diesels are only good on the open rd and mention fuel economy just don't get the effortless performance and longevity of the motor paired to an 8 speed torque converter gearbox. Give me that over a 7 speed DCT anyday.

Drive in town only? The diesel will clog your exhaust, costly indeed. No ad-blu (BMW used it in their diesels) so your exhaust will never burn the minerals left by the diesel. Diesels are good married to an ad-blu system, pollution reduced and minerals burned, all freight semi trailers are fitted with ad-blu. As far as this engine is concerned it uses more fuel than my Ford territory 2.7l Turbo Diesel a much bigger car. So the Hyundai 2l turbo diesel is not refined at all, seems it's a relic motor.

In Australia we get the Long Wheel Base model. Europe and the UK gets the SWB model. I prefer the former.

Do you also get the long wheel base for the Kia sportage?

Oh man, I wish we also got one of those here . I live in South Africa and we get the short wheel base here. That thing looks so small, it looks like a hatchback instead of an SUV. Thanks for the reply.

The DCT in the 1.6T is horrible unfortunately.

No ad-blu for the diesel , be informed, daily short drives in the city will cost you big bucks as you will never warm the exhaust enough to burn the mineral build up. Be warned, reviewers should tell you this, but it's the only motor that is not underpowered. Do your research. Avoid the 1.6l Petrol Turbo with the double clutch transmission, (DCT) the knocking when taking off and not being able to crawl in city traffic without clunks being heard will annoy you terribly. The two litre petrol 6 speed auto will make you the slowest car nearly on the road. 0-100 in 9.9 seconds, with fuel, kids, etc, it will be way over 12 seconds. Be prepared to be stared at by most of the other drivers. After all the same drivetrain is fitted to a Kona. So, if you drive a few days a week at higher speeds for a period of time to warm your exhaust, the reviewed car sort of works. If you do short runs, school run or shopping runs locally and don't get to warm the exhaust, this car is not right for you. The stop start feature makes it worse as the exhaust never gets really hot. Reviewers should always marry the driver and where and how they drive especially for diesel turbos without ad-blu. Why do they overlook this every time? FYI, in the USA the below powertrains are offered in the Hyundai Tuscon. The entry-level powertrain is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder but the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four that's buttressed by an electric motor.WOW. they don't take crap from car Manufacturers. Below the warranty, convert the miles to KMS, double WOW. Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles Powertrain warranty covers 10 years or 100,000 miles Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles Wake up Australia we are being screwed. Hyundai, once again your powertrains offered down under are inferior and it goes to show with the warranty you offer here compared to the Yanks.
