2022 IBJJF Masters 3 Black Belt / nogi

This was my first IBJJF tournament, and my first tournament as a black belt. I took 3rd place in both Gi and Nogi divisions. I was able to get two matches in with the number one guy in the division, multiple time world champion and Fight Sports Miami Head Coach, Denis Pinto.
It is clear that if you are going to spend time on the podium, you better be able to play the game. IBJJF rules are tricky, and it definitely requires a strategy to win.
I also didn’t realize that the middle weight class for the nogi division was 175.6, and not 181.5 like the Gi division. So I had to not eat or drink, plus get in a hard workout to make weight. I’m glad I did!
All-in-all, this was an amazing experience and I am excited for the next one!
Thanks to our professor Sean Stoopman, and to my team mates! Silverback came in and wrecked house! We took home a lot of medals this weekend, and I am so proud of everyone!
