Thankfully my spouse who started playing back at the beginning still has most of his cards (introduced our eldest to the game soon as he was old enough) so not a biggie but for newer players and others that joined the game later on it was a slap in the face. WotC was greedy enough when it took over D&D from TSR but Hasbro has taken it to a new level - really hope that they rethink things because it'd be a shame to see these games ruined.

We get the Focus and I think the Mondeo was called the contour here. Chrysler is Dodge, Escalade is Cadillac which is general motors

The most contentious part of my BFFs divorce is ownership of the boxes of Magic cards & other products from when her husband worked at Wizards in the 90s. At least 20 storage boxes of cards. Hubby didn't even get a lawyer or care about custody until he found out she had the cards in storage. Yes he's a POS.

Wow, that's really sad

That is really shitty, but I imagine there's half a house worth of money in those boxes easy. I'd value the children over the money because I'm not a moron, still.

I remember I moved into a new apartment in Thessaloniki, Greece and the next day I saw a brand new escelade with Russian plates parked next door and felt safer knowing that no criminal would be dumb enough to target our building lol.

Pretty sure he’s a marketing genius though. Can’t think of any other people who have manufactured the kind of hype he has about himself. It’s the brand “Elon Musk” that’s worth all that money.

When I played magic, back in middle school, it was like a complex strategy game. You needed to use resource cards to unlock your fighting cards and then you could attack the other player and stuff. It was a LOT of fun, but I haven’t played since then, only occasionally watched.
@collinbeal2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's essentially that, but with 30 years of design and mechanics now lol. It's easy to get the basic hang of how the game works, as each mana color has goalpost cards that show newer players what the fundamental strategies are. It's really hard to master the game as a newer player, though. I should know, because I'm autistic and can hyperfixate on things to the point they consume my life, but I'm still only at a lower intermediate level of understanding all the complex rules interactions and mechanics.

The Magic the Gathering debacle wasn't even the only horrible greed driven gamble the Wizards of the Coast attempted. Right around the end of 22 and into the first few weeks of 23 leaks started coming out about changes in the licenses that let third parties make content for Dungeons and Dragons, yes Wizards of the Coast make it as well. This resulted in huge backlash from the community resulting in tens of thousands of subscribers unsubscribing from their monthly website subscription and customers going out and buying massive amounts of products from their competitors. The content creators who give them tons of free publicity all bashed the company and started making content promoting their competitors products to their followers.

I think you are pretty spot on about the seriousness of bridge players plus pokemon cards equals Magic the gathering. Apparently it's a good way to keep kids away from drugs because just like with Warhammer players, their hobby is too expensive to allow for drug use as well

The court cases about the 1st amendment and corporations said that corporations are basically people for this, and have the right to free speech too. It wasn't anything about them not being able to have their own tos and allow or not allow whatever they want. A company is allowed to ban people for whatever they want to, as they should be.
