Listening to the announcer before the final race brings back so many boyhood memories of living on Mission Bay in San Diego. This is some of the best photography of a race I've ever seen. Thankful for the modern safety features on the boats today. If people don't think these drivers are gutsy and competitive after watching this race I don't know what say to them. Thanks for one of the greatest races we've ever seen. 👍👍

Edge of your seat race here, don't think I've ever seen such a close battle for the lead for so many laps, hope all are ok and thanks again for the coverage.

Corey that was some of the best racing ever, I have to say you were pushing that boat to 120% I'm so glad you are OK. I will be praying you arent too sore and hope yall can get the boat back together soon. Safe travels home!

Best 5 lap river boat race, I've ever seen, or watched!!!!! Cory wasn't falling off lead that day!!!!! Waves are the reason usually, gets boats both sides off water at diffrent angles, then there they go. Hopefully Cory gets back in the bubble, great racer, with balls of steel!!!!!!

I was not expecting that, the boat dipped into a bit of a hole then hopped out of it and over she went. In the old days that could have been a dead driver, but thanks to the Bud many years ago drivers can survive a flip like that now and many times without serious injury.

*Spoiler Alert:* Jimmy Shane almost went over with that gust too. That was some great racing, I just wish it would have went to the end, the exit of the last turn would have been epic.

What a horribly terrible ending to a great race! Both boats flew into that corner. The gust just got the best of Corey. I 'm happy he is okay. The boat looks destroyed. Any aftermath pics, anyone? I sure hope they get it back together for the Columbia Cup but I have my doubts.

@@K2SKIER112 No doubt it was as fast a response as Rescue could do. It just seems long when you're witnessing it as it happens. In any case Cory Peabody is ok and that's what counts.

We have to wait until we are told we can go. We can’t just haul ass onto the race course. Those boats don’t have brakes. The referee has to shut the course down and communicate to the radio operators, who then relay to the driver to stop and shut down where they are. The biggest delay is because we can’t go until we are told it’s safe to enter the race course. Cory was going 186 mph when he went airborne. If it seems like an eternity to the spectators, think how long it seems to the driver and to us, the rescue team, having to wait for all boats to be completely stopped. Believe me, if we could go sooner we would.

@@drewpierce2273 no Drew, Peabody being ok has nothing to do with it at all. I counted 50 second before the rescue team even came into frame. That's unacceptable. If Cory was upside down, unconscious with his mask knocked off his face, he would have been well on his way to drowning by the time they got to him. There are far better teams in the country. Watching that pissed me off on Peabody's behalf.

Brad and Jeff are seeing it in real time from the Start/Finish line and they don’t have any more information than anybody on the shore. They’re also massive fans of the sport and I know they were both distraught seeing the accident, neither one of them had words and struggled to look at the accident until they heard Corey was ok.

The announcers should shut up their hysterical screaming and let the folks hear the boats. Lastly, I never, never, want a racer or performer to die or get hurt trying to entertain me. You see it in all manner of races and air shows. Such a waste.
