Savage geese also said it wasn't as good as Mark Levinson or bowers & wilkins just as you said. Subjectively and with listening. I drove the grand Cherokee L and enjoyed listening to the McIntosh system. It's the only system in this class with an aux input to use higher quality files and digital analogue players.

Apparently there are speakers in the rear hatch/door that you you missed; the idea is a tailgate party behind the car gets stereo from the opened door overhead, and use of the sub you showed near the floor, lower left.

Dude, I got no dog in this fight but still this review ruffled my feathers. McIntosh is the heavyweight world champion. Always was. The S class sounds "expensive," and dark so that's fine. It's perfect for sad requiem music. It's a sad system. Still remember what they did to Jesus. So sad! The Escalade--it makes bass. No compromise. It's a bass making machine. Which is cool. But for music you need movement of sound, dynamic changes, and natural reverb, not silence. The Mac sings all frequencies. The car is not exactly my cup of tea but McIntosh is a legend. The others are the new wannabes in hi-fi. They are excellent. And the Cadillac people thought nobody would figure out what they are all about! Ha!

I spent a few hours test driving Wagoneers/Grand Wagoneers and GC Ls, trying to choose. One thing was consistent among the 5 or 6 vehicles I drove. The Alpine system Jeep offers is better than the McIntosh. I found the sound muddy and lacked clarity throughout the range. The Alpine, in contrast, was much clearer and balanced throughout. The oddest part is you still only get the 3 slider EQ regardless of system (bass, mid, treble). Of course, everyone is different so I highly recommend you listen to both before deciding. Don’t just think the extra $$$ ( on some trims) is worth it. I specifically chose a model without it. On the flip side, the B & W found on many luxury vehicles is in a completely different zip code than this system. I tested it most recently in a Volvo XC90 and it is absolutely hair raising…among the best systems I’ve ever tested, hands down. Go try it before you decide! And yes, on the GCL it’s a 19 speaker system vice 23 on the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer.

Sad it doesn't have a parametric EQ, or at least a 10 band EQ. High gloss screen plus black plastic should be satin. 110k for a Chrysler takes the cake. Kudos for Jeep allowing McIntosh to design a system. That will sell vehicles. Street cred is 10x what Bose and JBL is.

I think the sound quality in the Cadillac and its purely beautiful interior helps the Cadillac & it does have a ton of base I'd be in heaven. My 2016 Lincoln 11 speakers shakes the mirrors too without distortion

@@RomanM803 I like the dash of the Escalade and the everything else of the Lincoln Aviator the greeting light show as you walk up to it, the ability to memorize the height when you park it for ease of exit/entry. Lincoln NEEDS to step up it's game for screens that don't look glued on

It's the preselected digital recordings that have lousy frequency range. You can hear it clearly. Toyota has made the JBL Sound System sound worse than it really is. But then again, JBL gave Toyota garbage speakers therefore, it can't sound any better. Toyota plus JBL equals FAILURE.
