I had Racetech improve my suspension and it made a world of difference in the bikes handling. I've ridden my KLR from San Diego to NYC and all over Arizona's backroads. You hit the nail on the head, don't get carried away or in a hurry, the bike is heavy. If you ride it the way it was designed to be ridden you'll have a blast and can go just about anywhere.

@@markcollins5026 Congratulations Mark! I would suggest some crash bars because eventually you'll drop the bike, it happens. I put some bark busters on it to protect the levers. I put slim in the tires, a rim lock on the back tire and balanced both tires. These little things give you confidence when in the back country. If you look up "The Arizona Lasso" you'll find my yellow horse out on the trail :)

I think the styling is nice on the new KLR but I’m a DR 650 guy. If Suzuki updates the DR I hope they go the opposite direction from Kawasaki. Make it a few pounds lighter add FI and upgrade the suspension to DRZ 400 spec and keep the price low.
@DanLaFollette2 жыл бұрын
I'm getting back into dual sport and was seriously looking at the KLR650 but with all of the research I've done I'm disappointed that Kawasaki didn't bother to fix the doohickey and spring issue, the spring always breaks. The KLR is also a heavy beast. I'm getting a Suzuki DRZ 400, I think it fits more of what I want to do and I won't have to take apart a brand new bike and fix the design flaws like the KLR.
@jarrodleis40462 жыл бұрын
@@DanLaFollette If are planning on doing any amount of road riding I would highly recommend considering the DR650 over the DRZ 400. If you plan on mainly off-road riding the 400 is definitely the better choice. The DR 650 is still more capable than most adventure style bikes though.

And why on God's green earth would you make an already heavy bike, heavier? And what is the purpose of big expensive fairings that get damaged when the bike tips over unless you add more metal and weight to the bike to protect them. This was a Commercial for Kawasaki. What a sell out to a once great magazine.
