If you don't get the prestige model, you get 2nd row seats that clip in and out (in the EX and SX models). You can take the middle seats out, fold the back seats down, and have a four by eight foot flat place to lay things like sheets of plywood, or wallboard, or a big bunch of lumber, or maybe camping gear, or a mattress to sleep on, or my goodness who know what. It is a Big cargo space....bigger than your average pickup truck. We helped our daughter move with it. My husband and son went camping in it. We hauled plywood and 2 by 6's and 2 by 8's to repair our deck in it. That was just the first two months since we bought our sweet 2021 Kia Carnival. We absolutely LOVE our "Big Ass Bertha". Not only that, but people actually "check her out" as she drives by. Imagine that. Oh, did I mention the smooth ride? She gives us a smooth ride. Any complaints.....well, I'm not too happy with all that electronic gobbletygoop that interacts with us on the front dash, but my husband really likes it. Yeah, this new Kia van is a real win in my book. I think we'll keep her. Oh yeah, I forgot my main point. The seats that clip in and out also tilt forward, so your little darlings (and skinny grown-ups) can slip into the back seat. Hey, hey! And another thing....Bertha doesn't have seven seats. She has eight.

prestige trims dont have easy way of moving out of the way to access 3rd row. only the lesser trims have that classic minivan folding function. so yeah you gotta do the classic step in and duck while moving around the 2nd row seats (just like some minivan seats in the olden days)

The 'walk in' 2nd row seat mechanism in the manual says 'if equipped' appears to be a handle mounted on the bracket that attaches the seat to the back and from the back seat there is a strap on the outboard bottom corner of the seat. I think with the "VIP Lounge Seating" you're expected to move the seats far outboard and scurry between them. No AWD, No Hybrid.. exactly the 2 features I don't want to have in my car. 3rd is a turbo. Those 3 are just another systems that can fail. But really won't reward my owners that much of what they bring to the table. I'm in the market for a simple spacious good looking vehicle. So AWD drive is a no, because it's not 4wd. In my area, a good winter tire in a 2WD will perform the same. Hybrid is a no. No brand has ever figured it out yet at the moment. I'll consider by time they already perfected it. And Turbo is a no, I won't race with this vehicle. V6 naturally aspirated is more than enough for all my needs.

We have this exact van. Don't buy this if you: Have two toddlers in boosters or child seat. The lounge seats would be useless. We have one toddler in a booster and she sometimes uses it. But she can't fully recline and she can't feel the cooling feature. So one side is totally useless. Don't buy this if you have more than 2 kids. 3rd row access is difficult. You have to slide both 2nd row seats to the outside and use the middle to access it. If you slide it to the outside, the lounge features can't be used. Otherwise, it's a great vehicle. We compared it against the big 3 and this won out in styling, tech, and passenger comfort. People....if you have a long road trip, whoever sits in those lounge chairs will thank you. Talk about riding in style and comfort. Kicking all the way back with a pillow? Forgetabout it. Nothing else comes close to that relax feeling. You'll only get that in an S class Mercedes.

I can also speak from my experience with Sedona in the past, the 10,000 mile power train warranty is a scam. I had a power train failure and the dealer didn't want to fix it for me. They wanted to have proof of my receipts of the past maintenance record and believe it or not, questioning legitimacy of it. After all the back and forth with the dealer they offered me to pay half of the repairing costs. Which is the full price if I fix it myself with my local mechanics. I ended up fixing it myself and got so sick of the car I sold the car right after that. Kia is an evil company.
@scotthall1381 Жыл бұрын
Did you have the maintenance records? If you did and the dealer only offered half you should have escalated to Kia US Corporate, Dealers don't want to do warranty work due the reimbursement rates from the manufacture I suspect that is the case here and in they offered to pay half, which is what warranty work usually pays so they would have not been out any money even though this is in past you should escalate to Corp

@philby6110 ай бұрын
We are in the market for a new car and will possibly buy in late 2024. I have been looking at the Kia Carnival as one of the main options. This is almost perfect for us as it crosses 95 percent of the boxes. The boxes are: Space, Naturally Asperated V6, Non-Hybrid, No silly stop/start complications, Style (SUV looks), Has both direct injection as well as Port injection to minimize carbon build up over time. Plus many other minivan positives like auto sliding doors and lower height for ease of entry and exit. The main down side for me is that it is front wheel drive. I'm not requiring all wheel drive, I just prefer rear wheel drive vehicles. Other options I'm looking at are the Chevy Tahoe RST with performance package 🙂, or the GMC Denali. But both are far more expensive than the Carnival.
@citibear573 жыл бұрын
Hmmm....I'm not as impressed with the Carnival (it's not a car, so should it be called a Vannival?) Speaking of dumb names (lol) I wish the auto industry would drop the 'mini' from this category. There is nothing mini about them. The gimmicky styling is something that I would get tired of in short order. I'm single, so I have no use for a van, but when a family (The Muzios) say they wouldn't buy it, then there's something wrong. Almost bought a 2024 Honda Odyssey Touring. I was shopping for an EX-L, but I wanted the front and rear parking sensors which only come on the Touring and Elite. Dealer wouldn't budge on price, so I did not get it. I had test driven the Kia Carnival a week earlier and was blown away. Totally impressed. I wasn't sure about Kia reliability, so I put in my offer for the Odyssey. Glad the dealer didn't take my offer. I had that itch to buy a new car, but the itch is gone. I'm looking at the KIA again for the value it provides....more safety features, warranty, and reliability. According to another review I saw, the Odyssey has below average reliability. The Carnival has average reliability. I was planning to buy an extended warranty for the Odyssey (8 years, 120k miles), but that would have increased the cost significantly, but I wanted that peace of mind. The one thing the Odyssey has going for it is the ease of access to the third row. No other minivan beats it. Those Magic seats are awesome.

A KIA fan here. Our family has owned two Sorentos over the last decade. Our 2018 model is my wife's daily driver, our big dog's second home, and the family's version of a "Truckster" from the National Lampoon Vacation movie. Our small family doesn't need a minivan and my wife wouldn't own one for image reasons and the driver's low seating position compared to her beloved SUV. Nevertheless, the Carnival is an obvious upgrade from the previous generation Sedona. Have to say, though, that I don't think KIA has done enough to move the Carnival out of fourth place in sales among the four minivans currently available in the US. First and foremost, the absence of a hybrid version and the lack of AWD are major obstacles compared to the Pacifica and the Sienna. And overcoming brand loyalty and the strong long term reputation of Honda means KIA is unlikely to surpass the Odyssey in sales. Still, KIA has made an effort to shed the negative stereotype of minivans in the styling of the Carnival. And the bells and whistles of the top trim version include a number of "wow" factors. The most obvious of which are the lounge chairs in the second row of the top trim SX. On that point, however, I'm puzzled. Is there really a market for a limousine style minivan when second row seating is presumably reserved for munchkins? Is the Carnival an example of overindulgence and entitlement for middle class children?

However, the deal breaker is chair versatility and access to third row. Having three toddlers and all the stuff we carry i need to be able to access all rows easily. At this point it's basically an SUV and I already have a Sequoia for that. I think this is a great passenger mini with some awesome features that I think families would love but at the end of the day "families" buy minis for hauling people/kids and for that and what I need think Odyssey is still going to have to be my pick. Knew your answer would be "no AWD". Viewers may not know that, without chains or AWD, CHP can stop drivers from going up the hill.

It's a ridiculous system, so you have AWD, so you can go "up the mountain". But down the mountain the allseasons will break poorly... oh well, nobody cares about that...

What most people don't know is that the majority of minivan buyers aren't families. They're empty-nesters AKA just mom and dad. Realistically speaking, the third-row is never utilized by empty-nesters because only the second row has a person or two, like kids visiting back from college.

The Pacifica has one of the lowest JD power reliability ratings of any car on the market. Everyone I know with one has had problems. I don't care how nice the interior is if a car can't be counted on to last.
