Just test drove a Carnival! Didn’t even feel like I was driving a big 8 passenger the ride was so smooth. Accelerated great for when I need to get on and off the highway. Took your advice and brought my stroller, baby car seat, all my other baby crap, and set everything up as if it were ours to see how it all fit. AMAZING SPACE! The trunk with the 3rd row up made my Vista stroller look like a small umbrella stroller there was so much extra space. Beyond impressed! The husband and I decided this will be our new car when we car shop later this year.

That center console is almost a deal breaker. I don't even want a center console. I like the option of ripping the thing out and having a passage way or a spot to stick large items between the seats. On road trips I like to keep a cooler in the middle full of food and snacks. The Carnival setup will inevitably lead to bags and purses on laps and impeding leg room. I think the only van with a removable console now is the Odyssey. It's nice to be able to easily access the back as a parent without leaving the vehicle.

If you’re looking at this car you’re probably a parent so Thank you for looking at it from a parents perspective (mom amenities, room, car seats) and not from a Motorhead perspective. I mean how others review this thing and dont put car seats in and a stroller in the back is beyond me. And for those reviewing the sx prestige, parents dont need the “dental chairs”! Lol. We just bought the deep chroma blue carnival LXS in September. This is my 3rd Kia van. First brand new one. The day we bought it & pulled in our driveway the check engine light came on! Took it back the next day & they said it was a problem with a fuel injector. They scheduled me to bring it back up the next week to leave it over night. They gave us a loaner to drive. They called us a few days later & said because it is a 2022 there are no parts in the country & there is no ETA on the parts! Ugh! They had my van for a month & I finally got it back last week! Yay! Lets hope & pray nothing else goes wrong! I still love it though! Also my neighbor just said yesterday, "I see you got the hearse back!" 😂😂

Kia should be paying you. I have called numerous locations trying to find a carnival and they are selling like hot cakes. One dealer told me he has seen an increase in Carnival sales since your video. He literally said people are coming in and saying they watched car mom's kia carnival video and they want one. I’m a single mom of 4 young kids. I bought this car in September 2021 to replace my 2007 GMC Yukon. I wasn’t expecting to like it at all. I test drove it and it didn’t feel like a minivan or too low to the road. I love the cargo space. My kids love having space between each other and at the time, we had 4 carseats. I’m down to 3 booster seats now. Absolutely love it and recommend it to anyone. It even got my dads approval that I picked a good car.

@@Lauradiane24 We spoke to our local dealer!! We test drove one but needed a different trim with 8 seats. Contact them and ask if they know and if not have them keep you in the loop! They will know some time in advance. We put down a deposit to reserve ours. HOWEVER, ours came in and they notified me that there has already been a recall for a fuel line issue on certain VINs and Kia issued a stop order on them. They are waiting for the parts to arrive from Korea via boat and it will take another 2-3 weeks!! My car is just sitting on the lot calling my name and I can’t take it home until it’s fixed! 😭 Fingers crossed its worth it! Better be, haha. I absolutely loved how it drove! I test drove the new Sienna’s but they just didn’t do it for me. Didn’t even compare! [From a former ‘08 Sienna mom.] Good luck!!

My Husband and I are going to buy this next month, before our 3rd is born in August. We also looked at the Odyssey. There were two things that won him over. The fact that it's packed with technology and the back vents are located on the ceilings. During long hauls, he'll sit back there with the kids, but he's also the type of person who doesn't do well in anything hot. He needs his cold air, and that was what turned him off with the Odyssey. I'm also planning on getting Kia's 10 year extended warranty, because that is how long we plan to have it.

If you're planning to use the third-row regularly, my recommendation is not to get the top trim with those lounge chairs. It's tough to get to third row on the top trim.

Tough call indeed. I don’t like how the second row seats aren’t easily removable in the new Sienna, or how tech limited the lower end models are, but after renting one for a weekend trip and getting 45mpg it’s really hard to go for anything else.

It's actually always been called the Carnival in every market other than North America. For some reason only the US had it called the Sedona until now, and they just decided to call it the Carnival everywhere.

We did the same, odyssey test drive. For me the screen on Carnival was awesome but center console on odyssey is better. Odyssey looks like soccer mom, Carnival looks cooler. Price on Carnival is better. We chose Carnival EX.

@@whitneychoate4637 You can likely get it lifted. I know the 2021 sienna has lift kits available aftermarket that doesn't require you to change the suspension. It's basically a 2-3" lift. Costs about $400. + It is hybrid + it comes with AWD option.

I just bought the SX in Flare Red. The website doesn't do the red justice. People were actually taking pictures of it when I took delivery! It is gorgeous. The MPV is very comfortable and drives well. I have small grandkids and this will enable us to take the kids and their staff with us in one vehicle! I traded a 2019 Sorento EX in for this. This is so much better! Two things that drive me nuts about KIA. They didn't put an auto-dimming mirror or heated steering wheel in a $43,000 vehicle. You have to go all the way to the $47,000 SX Prestige to get it. Same for the sunroof (which I wouldn't use anyway). I realize you are doing the mom review, but you didn't even drive it. How is this a complete review?

Thank you for the review. I enjoyed Kia's previous generation of van as well. I thought it had excellent and modern fit and finish, as well as the SUV blended with a van styling that I suppose we could credit Chrysler with for doing first (original Pacifica as opposed to their own Caravan, etc.). I thought Kia nailed it last time, but this is gorgeous. In the previous iteration they had a chief of design they had recruited from Audi. The new products from Kia Hyundai are even more gorgeous, and stunningly modern. You can put this attractive van at the top of my list for test drives. As for the name? It doesn't bother me, but I see no reason why they couldn't have kept the name for their van in place. The 'Carnival' name seems to go with 'Caravan', but I don't know how much appeal that has to buyers who are currently young enough to need to purchase a family van, no disrespect to the legacy of the Chrysler van or it's current incarnation. It just seems like this ultra modern gem of an MPV that is a deserving part of Kia Hyundai's striking new lineup could have a Korean model name as unique as it is, or something more inline with the rest of their nomenclature. On a side note, I'd love to see a Hyundai version of this van.

Couple major downsides and thoughts: Buckling a younger kid in the 3rd row will be a giant PITA with a car seat in the 2nd row due to the sliding door not opening as far as competitors and limiting motion of the 2nd row. Most folks buying this van aren't a size 2 and won't be able to slide back there. For our family, the carnival was out of the running. The sliding 2nd row seat in the odyssey is an amazing design. The carnival's front seats feel like your sitting on plywood too. If your kids are old enough to buckle themselves in the 3rd row then the carnival is probably top pick imo. The top trim level doesn't have removable 2nd row (wouldn't consider that limitation) and none of the siennas are removal which counts toyota out for a lack of utility. Personally I think the odyssey felt more "solid" driving with roughly equal power delivery. The new 10 speed trans in the odyssey is vastly superior to the previous 8 speed. We are going to buy a 2022 odyssey touring.

The Sienna gives you 36mpg even on both highway and city. This thing probably won't even give you 20mpg in the city. Toyotas are also known to last super long and maintain high resale values, same as Honda. Kia is said to have gotten better, but I see super old Toyotas on the street and not Kias. Kia is owned by Hyundai. I would say wait for the hybrid if you want a Kia.

Excellent review! I will tell people on the fence test drive it before you splash 40k+ on any other vehicle so atleast you can compare it to your other candidates. It drives and looks like a suv vs a typical mini van and interior the EX and up feels like an mercedes benz interior. Also the name Carnival existed before the US market and means sexy party in certain US communities and around the world and atleast it not called a Hummer or like other super creative names like Civic, Sienna, e300. If you want a 3rd row that fits full size adults and still have decent room behind it, that doesn't look like a mini van, that drives like an suv, plenty of safety features and excellent warranty 10 years or 100k on transmissions, then this hard to beat.

For anyone looking right now, it is hard enough to find a single Carnival to test drive at a dealership. Those who have ordered this mid-level trim or higher have been waiting obscene amounts of time. Dealerships have said they aren’t being made. Not sure why. Dealerships are also charging wayyyyy above MSRP no matter which trim you get. Takes a lot of work to obtain one at a fair price. However, the LXS (LX + seat package) is also amazing. Compared to the other vans or 3 row SUVs I test drove, it feels like a luxury vehicle (for family, non-luxury price range). We were able to get one at MSRP recently in NJ. If you love this vehicle and can’t wait 6-18 months, I’d def recommend checking out the LX Seat package.

The Odyssey has the built-in sun shades, Cabin Watch (passenger view), Cabin Talk (passenger talk), and the sliding seats! I’d love for you to do a new Odyssey tour because your old one was your first minivan tour and I think the Odyssey deserves all its features highlighted! Having said that, this is super nice!

If you like the camera, checkout the camera in the Picifica which is mounted in middle and let's you look into rear facing car seats as well!

The Odyssey is about $1700 more (base models of each). It’s a Honda and the crash test ratings are out for it...no word yet on the Carnival. To each their own of course, my objection is talking about the features like they’re revolutionary when another vehicle in its class is doing them. It was more a suggestion to Kelly to update her Odyssey tour. :-) The Carnival is really nice! Just not the only one to offer some of this

They should move the sliding door handles to the back of the door to hide the fact they're sliding doors (like in the position where swinging door handles would be).

I have a carnival LX and it has a power lift gate. Seats in the ex are much more comfortable for those who are wondering. A wonderful MPV for sure

@@donovansimison9336 That's funny I always thought the cloth seats were more comfortable and leather seats always seem harder. I might shoot for the LX because the EX is a huge $ jump but you said you have a back electric door are the side doors Electric and you probably don't have heated seats.

@@seatime674 that is correct sir. Your right about the cost increase though. It is a big jump but comfort is a person to person thing. You are also correct about no heated seats. But when we bought ours the van was only 32k and it still worth every single penny. It's our family car, it's also our truck cause the inside is huge with the seats out, it's our camper and it's fuel efficient, reliable and comfortable ride.

I have the '18 Pacifica and love it but might swith to these because the 5yr-60k mi bumper to bumper , 10yr-100k mi power train is super attractive...The EX is like an $8k jump or else I would just do that so I'll just have to see..I'm gonna go walk the lots this Sunday when their closed hate car salesman...🙃... one last thing on the LX do all the seats push down to make it flat back there or do you have to pull those out?

Ive gone 19 years avoiding the minivan. I still have a 15y.o son at home so I’m thinking the Carnival is nice for transporting teens. However, the mediocre 3rd row clearance to exit is a flaw. Its an important feature to consider, so I may hold off.

I agree the name and the silver trim needs to go. They also need to get rid of the old school boot and the open door tracks. The door tracks should be hidden. Kia made a big mistake because the door tracks scream minivan and Kia says it’s not a minivan.

So far it's a home run. I was able take a 3 hrs road trip stress free and it went by super fast. The seat were very comfortable. Power on the highway is smooth and amazing and plenty of room and space. Couldn't find enough things to add to the back lol coolers, suit cases, kids bicycle etc.. Also, I was able move some furniture from my apartment buildings for my tenants better than any suv or pick up without renting a u haul. My only concern is the interior is too nice lol I could afford any vehicle up to 100k if I wanted. This was best value and look for me a coming from a Toyota guy lol
