I agree on all of your points...except the tyres. Maybe in your climate, but here in Scandinavia in October, November with wet roads and temperature below 10 degrees C, they are slippery. I changed my tyres after 2500km. And that due to delivery time! Otherwise they would have been swapped sooner. Oh and by the way! A good tip (at least for 790's built in Austria) is to tighten the hoseclamp for the coolingsystem, just at the flange on the engine. It's the thermostat housing. Yes, that's the quick-fix for that leaking coolingfluid you read about at forums. Well done mr Fernandez.

I had this 790 DUKE for 15 000 kms, now I own the 890 Duke R . Nice review, good points on seat and styling.I would add makes a good light weight tourer, fuel economy is amazing. Also nice bike for shorter riders my GF has the 790 Duke with lowering kit reduces seat height to 790mm.

Definitely agree on this being the best looking KTM bike. They need to adopt this color blocking on all of their bikes. Looks much more elegant. Quick note though, what are your thoughts on the recent price increase of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 and 401 by about 20-30k? Still worth it for the price or no?

The initial price before the increase was a steal. The current price now is like what I feel the bike should've been priced, to begin with :)

Excellent review. Great picture quality as well. I have been going back and forth between the 790 and 890. There is an almost 4K difference between the two which is significant.

If the price were the same, I would go with the 790. Suites me better. More Rock'n'roll. The 890 is more sophisticated. I tried both, back to back and the 790 was more fun!

i always thought the exhaust looked hideous, but now i see it from your perspective. i eventually got the CB650R as i preferred the old school look and sound of the inline four. but functionally, the 790 is a more capable bike. i just chose emotion over logic 😅

Was there any leaks in the 790 engine? I owned a 200 before and now a 390. Both have oil leaks from the stator but very minimal and neglectable.

I own a 790 and the previous owner had the valve cover gasket redone on it, its a common leak point on the 790 but its been great since I bought mine.

I prefer classic styling myself. Think the Triumph Bonnevilles, Moto Guzzi V7, Kawasaki Z900RS and W800, and the Royal Enfield Twins. This bike is hideous in comparison.
