In the settings you can select "favourites", being the mode switch menu, trip meters or the (optional) bluetooth menu. After that the favourite will be accessible after only pressing the up or down arrow once, allowing a mode switch in just 2 button presses.

Also, all modes except rain mode have the same (full) power output. Only the throttle and TC profiles change based on the selected profile. Buying this bike without the track pack/tech pack (quickshifter, slip control, launch control) should be illegal by the geneva conventions. Heated grips (controls integrated in dash) and cruise control are also necessary additions (depending on climate) imo.

I dont care about the modes being hidden. I thought I would want them, but I ride in sport and leave it there. It feels weird if I change it. My favorites/shortcuts are for Trip meter and Heated grip settings. Things I do not like on the bike are how cheap the tank plastic is. It scratched from an alcohol pad to clean for tank pads. Sometimes get false neutral at 5-6. High exhaust is annoying for pillion/if you wanted bags, but most people dont buy them for that reason. I bought mine as a dealer demo so it had the track pack. I think its dumb to software lock features and sets a bad precedent for the industry but I also get it. Tech pack comes with quick shifter / slipper clutch / track mode / disable wheelie mode. I think its kinda bs to have to buy and have the dealer install cruise control. Heated grips I installed myself but again I could probably have another bike in teh segment with all of it pre installed. I have the base model and I have the IMU. Pretty sure they all have it. Traction control is great and super subtle. I didnt buy it with a plan to buy it, came in to try an rs660 wasnt happy with it, tried this thing and giggled like a child.

@@trevor2830 I didn't start on one, but my friend has one he keeps around for some reason. I still love taking it out. I think most people would have a blast on it for a year or two before upgrading. I think it's one of the best beginner bikes. I had a weird beginning with bikes, but coming from a bmw r1100, the 890 was intimidating at first.

just brought mine home tonight.....have to get some gear but took it for a putt around block and some slow speed stuff....my first street bike so have nothing to compare too....from MX background the brakes are incredibly strong and front end just wants to dive into corners i can tell even at slow speeds.....tom give it a whirl but yeah seems like awesome bike

@@kirkdunn1379 I’ve never had a bike with brakes this good before and it’s been difficult for me to get use to. My first bike ever was an 84 Honda Ascot VT500 and the front brakes were absolutely useless and I always used the rear brake. Using the rear brake constantly has been a hard habit for me to brake. Even on my 2001 Honda CBR600 the brakes weren’t this good. From videos I’ve been watching they say only new riders favor the rear brake. I favor them out of habit from past bikes. These tires this bike has is also better than I’ve ever had and I’m building trust in what this bike can really do. It’s slow but I’m loving the bike so far.

I have the GP model, it 100% should come with the tech pack from the factory. Spent another 900 dollars just last week to have it installed at the break in service. Other than that, I do absolutely love the bike. Let's hope the reliability stays in line. If it does, I cant imagine anything that could beat it. The quickshifter is butter at higher RPM's when you are hammering on it a little bit. At lower, traffic-like engine speeds is a bit notchy. I prefer to clutch in those situations.

Agreed, very annoying to have to purchase the Tech pack, wait for the dealer to unlock it, etc. quick shifter is… Sketchy. Agree that it’s better at high rpm, there are recommendations in the manual and I think it’s locked out in certain ranges. Definitely break the bike in before relying too heavily on the quick shifter… It could do some wonky things that first.

The up and down buttons on the left hand side can be setup with Favourites, so you can easily access the mode menu.

I just recently bought my 890R. I live in Florida so I ride all year. So far I ride in sport mode because I ride a Harley XR1200. The XR is all torque to I like it that way. The XR is the closest bike Harley ever made to a supersport.

Track mode gives you 9 levels of traction control adjustable on the fly. The throttle maps are still in the menu but I just leave the preferred throttle map and adjust the TC

Friend had one of these ..lol from 60 to 120 that bike was a straight up rocket .handled incredible to...wild bike...torque for days..I still can't believe how much power that skinny little bike had.They came stock on some pretty sticky Michelins to..atleast his did..with an exhaust these bikes sound proper beautiful...not a huge fan of the look but at night time the headlights are super bright and clear their piercing ...

The range on my 890 (Non-R Model) duke is crazy, If I just throw the cruise control on and be nice it will do 67 mpg/ 3.5L 100km. From my house to work and back is 87km I can do that trip 4 times without fueling up which is 348km. As for the colors I prefer the full black of my '21. The bike has a quick shifter on it you just have to pay for KTM to enable it which is some serious bullshit, and there is also an option for cruise control and heat grips (which are controlled through the dash).

OC. Yes, there is a quick shifter and an imu. You just have to pay for the tech pack to unlock the quick shifter and some other stuff. There's also supermoto abs, and cruise control, and other features.

the duke is about 405lbs wet and MT10 is around 463... so if compare torque to weight... the 890r is definitelyhigher...

The fact remains that KTM charges extra to unlock the full potential of the bike. In my opinion, I wouldn't buy one without everything enabled. That makes it work like it's designed to work. Some people get upset about that but I consider it the cost of entry. If a person is put off by that, cool, plenty of other great bikes. Ride happy!

My 390 has a quickshifter stock. So, expecting a quickshifter in a 890R is very much reasonable. Not sure why they didn't include it.

It has the QS you have to unlock it via software :) once you buy the techpack you have all the riding aids you would ever dream about. It's a pay to play strategy. What I did I bought the the 2021 model new this year and I got a very good deal, cheaper that street triple RS. I come from inline4 Honda and I only can say this is night and day difference. Enjoy the ride. Before anyone saying something about japanese motorcycle, please not that who buys europen bike are buying them because they are not japanese. On realizability issue, guys Yamaha had last year more recalls than Ducati. ☺️

@HahrtDood i own a kawasaki z900 with 30k miles and i’ve never had a single issue. Ktm might be a more exciting bike to ride but you get used to anything over time. You can put extra virgin olive oil in a japanese bike and it will still run smooth 😆

I can't believe you did pay homage to regonize that bike has Race DOT tires stock. All respect I really don't thing you realize just how serious the capabilities of the bike. Those Power Cup 2's are very expensive and had Unbelievable and almost inconceivable grip. I implore you to PLEASE Do a hard Mountain and Twisties run. Also forget the electronic suspension this is supposed to be a raw and hardcore track weapon. It also should have a Supermoto mode and there also an optional track pack. I really think you missed the mark chase. Anybike rocking DOT race tires on the road was designed for a VERY specific purpose. Hope you are willing to give this bike another and more fair shot in the environment it was developed for. Hardcore twisites and or track days. Great quality on the video...but key component of design and focus of the bike was definitely missed. I was looking forward to getting your perspective once and if you fully realize what you where sitting on.

Yeah I’m not a fan of the pay for options on a bike in this price range. I have a 790 Adventure S and I had to pay about $900 to add cruise, quickshifter, and rally software. I feel that the Duke 890 R should come with cruise and QS as standard. It’s literally just a $90 part for the cruise control switch and the rest is activating the features via their computer!

OC: the tech pack isn't that expensive and the extras included are well worth it. My 890R lives in track mode since you can put it in any throttle response mode. Wheelie control disabled and 4 or 5 on the traction control slip coefficient. Austin racing dual exhaust and its amazing. I'm down in GA as well and would love to show Chase on a bike meet-up one day. Almost sounds top tier for a parallel twin

@@gavin3810 agreed, hiding factory included features behind a paywall is kind of shitty. The fact they do it with the 1290 is what really grinds my gears. For what that bike costs those features should be available at no extra charge.

I've an 890R and a Aprilia V4 1100. The 890R isn't to powerful, feels slow next to my 1100. But the 1100 is over kill. The 890 you can just thrash the snot out if it all the time so it's arguably more fun. Frustration isn't fun, and the V4 can be ridden at half revs and still be going warp 9.

Folks, if you're thinking of getting this bike as your first KTM and are looking to swap out the exhaust you gotta take a look/listen to Austin Racing's stuff. The RS 22 exhaust is THE perfect sound to match how mean these bikes look. Nasty!!!

If you buy techpack you get quickshifter and track mode, which is faster than sport mode

From what I understand you don't have to buy a quick shifter you just have to buy The flash from KTM the bike has it it's just locked which is bananas
