Are you considering buying an 890 Duke R soon? I bought mine used for $$$$ savings and continue to save money on mods! Stay tuned for modification and tuning content.

I'd say just save for the new 990s coming up since spy shots of them have already been taken about a couple of weeks ago. The 890 duke GP is probably just a duke r with full set of track-ready powerparts (which is still pretty insane nonetheless) anyway.

just got my 2022 duke 890 R.....putted it around block to get small taste....have no gear so didnt want to go farther.....coming from dirt bike background (10 yrs ago at that) and this being my first street bike i actually thought i would ride it way worse but felt comfy right away...no problem manuevering it in slow small turns, shifting and all that came right back.....i get some gear tomorrow and take it for cruise....the front brake is incredibly powerful!.....and suspension is stiff

NICE! Saw your first comment and just wanted to say congrats on picking one up. It is such a nimble bike, quite light considering it’s capabilities and price point. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it safely. Once you get some gear and open it up a little you’ll know why it has such a good reputation. I find the modes to be pretty different from one another too, I love the throttle response in track but I’m working on cleaning up throttle slop/upgrading to the 1290 Evo throttle. There’s so much that I have planned for mine and so much video to edit. I can’t wait to get back in full swing once this injury starts to be more tolerable.

As someone who's witnessed claims and productions that market bigger is better in the automotive field over decades, I sometimes wince when this happens in the motorcycling world. I have a Husky 690 SM single and it's light weight and handling is a different kind of joy vs. high power. For me at least I can run that puppy at 80 mph without it struggling and hold 70 mph indefinitely on the freeway. I appreciate it's economy too. Some peeps stated it cost way too much for what looks much like a dirt bike but I take great pleasure in it's quality components and do-it-all nature. I'd trade my MT-10 for a well put together KTM 500-700 with a comfortable suspension with the way the future looks regarding the fossil fuel outlook while realizing I'd be giving up things only "super bikes" & heavier models can provide. But after all these years balance means quite a bit. There's that idiom that rings true, especially for the experienced: "Enough is a feast."

This is truly the only way to continue for auto and motorcycle manufacturers. There are only so many Nannie’s you can throw on a liter bike to make it so Joe blow doesn’t kill himself. In the current horsepower wars the victims will be those who ride dangerously that are constantly saved by these systems. I really want to stress my support for your argument here on the channel and with enjoyment of larger bikes/cars one’s piloting skill should come into sharp focus otherwise you’re really paying for fluff. Thanks so much for you comment, sorry for the slow response been dealing with a lot of medical stuff lately.

I have a low mileage 21 on its way to me and the decision was party based on no difference between the 20/21 to 22/23 plus I prefer a white bike to dark or black one. This pays for the add ons.
@AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle Жыл бұрын
I prefer the white too! I really pops on the road when mixed with the orange frame. Congratulations on the new bike and welcome to the channel! Let me know if there are any specific videos you’d like to see on the bike. Cheers!

2022 D890R gets a new color scheme. That's all. The Duke 890 GP is awailable to buy on pre order here and it is cheaper that the R model so expect a non R model Duke 890 with a graphics kit. So nothing new really.

I find my 890 R's rear suspension "harsh" ... even on the comfort settings.... Maybe it is our roads - but then my Super Duke R is comfortable on the same roads.... Maybe I am just to big for the 890 R - 1.9m and 105 kg.... It is a nice middle weight - if only it was more comfortable.
@AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment! Sorry for the delayed response. I find the exact same, I love the direct feel of the sport settings when accelerating but these Colorado roads don’t do the back any favors. I am about 195lbs right now and the bike is definitely sprung for someone lighter. I’ve had several discussions with forum member about the subject and I wonder if it’d be worth swapping the spring. I’ve not looked into the cost just yet but it’s something I may consider, do you think you’d do the same?

Has anyone made a power commander for a proper full cat delete? I mean there’s lots of videos with people showing off various exhaust with full deletes. But I really want to do it right. Is there anything out there ready to go? Please help my 890r live up to its full potential. Thank you

I will be addressing this and going one step further with the Rottweiler intake as well! By pairing the mods with a technical knowledge and expertise we should be able to push this platform safely well into the proposed KTM 990 territory.
