2022 Lionel O Scale Atlantic 4-4-2 Legacy Review

I am reviewing one of Lionel's newest engines, the 4-4-2 Atlantic, released in the 2022 Big book catalog. This is a fun little engine with some cool features!

Check your chuff switch. Could be a loose wire on the switch. Usually located near the drive wheels. That's how they use to be set up in the early 2000s up to 2005 as far as I know. I don't own a legacy engine newer than that

Hi I very much enjoy your videos and they have influenced me greatly. As a result of watching them I purchased a UP E7 City of LA set and the NYC Atlantic. You said you would like some NYC passenger cars to go with your Atlantic. I have a set of Premier MTH cars for sale [20-4019]. There are 5 cars. They are NYC green. I received them in 1997 but they remain unopened. I am asking $299 for the set. Also, I enjoyed your Black Bonnet ES44 video. I am selling an unopened MTH Black Bonnet R50B that Pat made for $95 that you might like to run with your ES44. And I also have an unopened Black Bonnet ES44 for sale if you want to lash two of them up. It is $750, which is what new ES44s are going for these days.

Wow. I am out of town and it will be two more weeks before I can have it shipped so I hope mine does not have problems as another commenter also experienced difficulties. Mine will will be a Southern. Sounds like issues with this run.

I just got mine in Southern. I love mine. It did not want to go into gear when i first got it. I almost returned it and the next day it started working.

I also have the Southern. How’s your whistle steam out put. Mine is feeble to non existent, but the main stack is fine. It was good the first day. I’m starting to wonder about a comment made on a few other videos that you have to put fluid down the whistle stack.

Okay - I took the plunge. I put a lot of fluid down the main stack and got significant smoke but still nothing from the whistle steam. A leap of faith and 15 drops down the whistle stack and the whistle is smoking like a champ. I think Lionel screwed this up telling people to only put fluid down the main stack.

Question with the Cab 2. I'm running V1.52 with Legacy and wondering if I'm going to need a software upgrade to access the 5 whistles, new features. How do you do that (toggle between the different whistles and bells) on the Cab2?

I’ve had my Cab 2 for 6 years and haven’t upgraded the version and I can access the 5 whistles and bells fine. To cycle through the whistles and bells, you press the “aux 1” button then either blow the whistle or bell. Every time you press the aux 1 button followed the whistle or bell, it will cycle to the next whistle or bell.
