Have owned my 2016 ND1 GT Soft Top Miata (37k miles) since Sept 2016 and let me tell you, it's my absolute favorite vehicle. From its controllable/tossable nature to its sense of speed without actually speeding, no other car has ever made me smile just driving it down the street. I've owned 3 BMW 3-Series, a Mercedes C-Class, an Accord Coupe, and an Integra (RIP Bebe Jesus) and none of those vehicles can hold a candle to the Miata off fun factor alone. Can confirm it's a good road tripper as well. Drove from San Diego to Washington DC and back with a 42" TV in the passenger. Wish gas tank was bigger (11.9 gal about 350 mile range). Would upgrade to ND2 but nothing feels better then driving a vehicle that's already paid off.

I bought one exactly a year ago and use it as a daily driver. Let me say I get cranky each day I don’t drive it. Interestingly I find myself hardly listening to music or podcasts when I drive this car as I like the involvement the driving provides. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate. Also skip the Brembo/Recaro package and save $4500 as the base car is great! Fine review - Thank you

I disagree, I think the recaro seats are worth every penny, especially on longer drives.

A sports car in the barest sense? You mean *truest* sense. The ND Miata is a true sports car with no extra frills or gimmicks.

I think this video misses that the small size (and light weight) is a feature, not a bug, of the Miata.

Just bought our 2022 MX-5 GT two weeks ago for the sole purpose of replacing our motorcycles. This car is a blast to drive, plain and simple.

We went with the convertible and love it. No matter which one it needs the manual transmission.

Good review. The only thing I would say is there are more differences between the base ST MX-5 and the RF Model other than just the hard top roof. There are a many more standard features included on the base RF. So it’s not $7000 more just to get the hard top.

Bought the 2016 model because there are more performance mods and so I could personalize it for the same cost as new.

Naive question here: how easy is it to replace the seats? Not having lumbar support is a deal killer, yet this is the car I want more than others…

The recaros have lumbar support, it just isn't adjustable. The base seats are more like a hammock. Either way, getting the seats out is easier than many cars, due to the lack of roof.

Paco racing offers static seat brackets, so you can lower the seats. I am 6 1 and just barely fit and will buy these, even if they are illegal in germany. I recommend you ask in a forum or smth and ask if you can try sitting in one with the paco brackets, im pretty sure you will fit then. Had the same concerncs as you, but after taking a test drive i felt it was okay. Barely, but okay.

I'm 6'2", 205lbs, 34" inseam. I just brought home a 2023 Sport a few weeks ago and haven't had a bit of concern with fit. I have ~1.25" clearance between roof and head with the top up, and pedals are perfectly distanced from me with the seat all the way back so that I still have a slight bend to my knee with the clutch fully depressed. My wife and I were toying with the idea of a new motorcycle, and I jokingly mentioned the Miata as an alternative if I fit. Just so happens I fit perfectly. Trunk is just large enough to hold both of our backpacks and lunchboxes for work, so we've been using it as the DD and it's beyond great. My car prior to the Miata was a 2018 Shelby GT350 that I purchased new in 2018 and traded out of in 2022. I can confidently say I'd take a Miata 8 days a week over another Shelby. Put your butt in one to see if you fit if you haven't already. Phenomenal car!

I purchased a 2022 soft top and I bet 90% of the reviews are for the RF. Why? Costs more, adds weight, bigger blind spots and noisier with the top down. Yes it looks better with the top up but why buy the MX5 if not for that open air experience.

That’s the way I would go! Soft top is the best. I have a 1990 NA Miata and it’s the only way I’d want a Miata, with the roof fully down!

This guy is not the right one to do reviews on original roadsters. He needs to review Cadillacs instead. I have never heard one of reviewer complain about the lack of a fricken trunk in any Morgan and it's about twice the price of a Mazda MX-5.
