Honestly, Latifi is in 21st, just behind Hulkenburg and The Hulk only drove 2 races this year. If you look at the official F1 driver standings, Nico is listed. He has 0 points, but Latifi has the same 0 points. It's perfectly fair to list him in your list to call attention to just had bad Latifi has been this year. You don't discount Vettel's ranking because he's only been in 8 of the 10 races, so why not add The Hulk?

On Sainz in Hungary: "He hasn't been shafted by strategy like Leclerc" Well... not in the same way, I would argue, but his race was definitely compromised by Ferrari too. Having re-watched that race a few times, I'm now convinced that Sainz' ridiculously slow first pit stop (with no apparent reason) was done on purpose by Ferrari, to switch both drivers on track, without giving team orders. Just before Sainz was told to box, Leclerc was on the radio asking to be let pass. I think this was Ferrari's solution to that problem. I'm quite neutral towards Ferrari and I don't have a specific preference for either Leclerc or Sainz, but unlike most, I often feel worse for Sainz than for Leclerc. Because he has had to deal with reliability problems and bad strategy the same way Charles has, but on top of that Carlos has had to suffer tricks by his own team to help his team mate, while publicly Ferrari maintains that they have no no. 1 and no. 2 driver. (Btw, I don't think there's anything wrong with having a no. 1 driver, but just be clear about it)
@lore-lv2yo
@lore-lv2yo Жыл бұрын
Sainz had almost the same strategy as Hamilton. The differece is that Hamilton had mediums for longer so he'd be faster on the softs at the end. Then in Silverstone Ferrari destroyed Leclerc's race by letting Sainz stay ahead of Leclerc even when Leclerc was 4 tenths a lap faster with a broken wing and especially after the safety car. Probably they decided to not let Leclerc in because if Sainz was in the same position as Leclerc he would've lost more positions at the restart. Then in Monaco Sainz was'nt screwed at all. It went the opposite way. The strategists panicked when Sainz was coming in for dry tyres with one pit stop less than Leclerc. And still at the end of the race Leclerc was 2 seconds behind Sainz having made one pit stop more than the top 3 drivers. I don't know what championship have you watched till now but from what I've seen Leclerc has been held back more than Sainz by Ferrari.
@FullTimeGaming360
@FullTimeGaming360 Жыл бұрын
I would also add that it appears from the outside Sainz is being difficult to work with on purpose because of how bad the strategy has been so he isn't listening to bad calls as often. Sainz instantly seems to shout back while Leclerc turns up to find out he is behind sainz waiting to pit and put on hards then complains.
@JaneFokster
@JaneFokster Жыл бұрын
@@lore-lv2yo Well, I guess in Charles' case I'm inclined to place some of the blame of the bad strategy calls on himself, because he never seems to question them. You could of course say he shouldn't HAVE to question them, but if it happens as often as with Ferrari, I would expect him to take matters more into his own hands. To me that's part of being a top driver. Carlos of course has been battling the Ferrari strategists on several occasions, with some success, and the way I see it that's the main reason why it looks like they've been screwing up Charles' races more often. They both have had bad calls, but Sainz has managed to correct at least some of them. As for Hungary and the comparison with Hamilton. We'll never know what would have been the outcome if Sainz' first pit stop hadn't been too early and much too slow and he had thus been allowed to stay ahead of Leclerc at that stage of the race. It's all speculation, but he definitely would have been faster on the softs in the end and might have ended up on the podium.
@mennaselim9865
@mennaselim9865 Жыл бұрын
in Hungary, Charles was about to overtake Sainz anyways because he was faster regardless of pitting Sainz to allow Charles to overtake or not. and tbh, throughout this part of the season, Charles was the better driver almost on all occasions and Sainz maybe is struggling a bit to be one with the car this year.
@sniperkuzi4083
@sniperkuzi4083 Жыл бұрын
@@JaneFokster This narrative is so weird imo. Carlos has battled his strategists many times just to end up listening to them anyway, like in France. He only overruled his strategists in Silverstone by not backing up. He listened to them in Monaco, the team already told him to not pit because Checo had already undercut him, he listened to them in Silverstone where he got to pit instead of Charles for some reason even though Charles was ahead, he listened to them in France and in Hungary. Another thing is that Charles actually questioned the pit calls in Silverstone and Hungary. He told Ferrari that he wanted to stay on the mediums for longer but his team overruled that and he wanted to pit in Silverstone but his team told him to stay out because they did not want to double stack.

People used to complain about Hamilton complaining all the time and bossing the team around but I never understood that because that is clearly a VERY important quality to have. Leclerc is very much taking a backseat to team strategy. He’s a phenomenal driver, but he needs to be more assertive with the team. That’s what wins championships, taking charge. I can guarantee that if Lewis was in Leclerc’s place, he would be doing significantly better, maybe even still in the lead. Experience and ability to understand when to command the team for your sake is a quality of champions.

But if he really wants to get better he needs to drive his TEAM better, take more ownership of the strategy too. As for Verstappen, the man is on just another level! Hearing the possibility of a 100+ point difference between P1 and P2 at the end of the championship made me think. What is the current biggest point difference between P1 and P2 at the end of a championship? And is there a possibility that that record will be broken this year? The average age at which people swapped off of soft was 14, Mick had 22 lap old ones at the end. How was he supposed to defend against Zhou?
