Fairline so far had been doing amazing work in the past years. Their boats are built beautifully and well thoughtout. Seems like they are built pretty well, considering the good engineering and design of the hull. This is just another example of their great work.

Are there any disadvantages to having a seakeeper? Other than the initial cost obviously, any ongoing costs? Maintenance? Loss of space in the engine room? Apologies for what may be a numpty question, I don’t know much about boats but from videos like this I’m slowly learning.

You lose a bit of space , they take 20 mins to spool 🧵 up - they require an annual service but otherwise they are fantastic and it transforms life onboard - especially at anchor 🍻

Spoilt by the lack of standing room in the owners cabin. Otherwise, quite a decent boat for a £ million. Galeons have little to fear as competitors though.

You can't even stand fully upright in the main cabin of a £1m boat? Check out the Galeon 500 or an Absolute 50 that quite literally knocks the burger and chip socks off, of this boat. Not impressed with this one although I hear Danny Devito and Warwick Davis are thinking of going halves on this one.
@Boatscouk2 жыл бұрын
😂 - you don’t just buy a boat on headroom. Seakeeping, build quality, ease of use etc are important. Also everything has a cost - High headroom gives higher centre of gravity which equals worse sea keeping. Every boat compromises something to give you something better elsewhere 😊

Very nice. If I have a criticism (and I'm struggling, here) the cockpit table arrangement is a bit rubbish. I had the same thing on my 22 ft Sea Ray, which used to drive me mad because the table leg was always falling off - but it didn't cost me a million quid :)

There are also outdrives and outboards ! Wow that’s a big question - it could take a whole video 😉

@@Boatscouk Why would you not want to fit IPS pods if the boat is going to use 30% less fuel? What are all the advantages and disadvantages of various drive options you can get for Motor Yachts. I would like to know before I order my Pershing X7 fitted with surface drives. LOL
@Boatscouk Жыл бұрын
@@gordonjohnston684 . I will answer on IPs because the answer is quick. It uses less fuel because there is less friction. There is less friction because the IPs boat is lighter and because more boat is out of the water . A lighter boat that is more out of the water can have less seamanship qualities 😉

You did not test the shout window, is this a signal of some inherent design flaw!!!lol!!! Curious as to when we’ll see a 3 cabin, galley up one…..for an owner operator boat, it seems to me a galley up makes more sense as mom and dad want to be able to keep an eye on the kids!!!!! Also, being both dad and cook I don’t want to be in a hole, while everyone is upstairs and outside….and third, better to keep the smells of cooking upstairs rather than in the cabins….

No no no and no again. Most boat builders have worked out that you need to move the galley up. Why would you want the cooking smells below when they are easily aired away from the upper deck. On this boat that is why there is so little head room in the cabins. Time to do a rethink Fairline.
@Boatscouk2 жыл бұрын
When boating regularly - some customers find that they are on show when using a galley up boat. For example when you wake up in your pants in the morning and want a cup of tea- you have to quickly run for the curtain / blind. Everything is a compromise.

I know very little about boats, only what's on KZbin, but this one looks like a poor choice to me, compared with Galeon 640, for example. Yes, the Galeon is around £1.5m, but it's 3 times the boat. Galeon 500 is close in price and way superior, inside and out.

If space is all you need then the Galeon is a winner but boats are much more complex than that . It depends what is important to you as a buyer 😊

I never saw the sink in the galley or the frig / freezer. I'm not nitpicking. What happens if a family of four is having brekkie on the aft deck. Now all of a sudden there is a loud noise in the engine room or smoke and you need to get down in the engine room in a hurry. Or doing an engine check every hour. Then having to lift up the table top.

Watching this video a day ago, and thinking about the entire walk through. When a customer want's a first time boat. This is no time to let your heart dictate for you, because the boat is shiny. Find a guy that is sharp, long time boater. Talk to a few Captain's, pay them well and sit down and talk. We're talking serious money here and to have second thoughts in less than a year after buying the boat. I think some of the most sharpest boaters are the passage maker people. I can assure you. Passage makers don't buy a boat because the interior trim is high gloss. These buyers study and study at home for months before laying out serious money. comparing numbers. Come on now. A engine room hatch on the back deck. Sooner or later. Salt water along with fresh water will find it's way inside that's a given. Those two tubes for the aft table. It's flimsy and will eventually the tubes will become loser and loser. After riding my push bike across the continent of Australia twice. I feel that I can offer some new riders advice and hopefully save lots of money on equipment before setting off. This should hold true with people new to boating.
