@@nodak81 Well it depends on what’s behind it and how well it absorbs low speed impacts. Some perform better than others, cars of the 80s and 90s had massive bumpers, but many still had high repair estimates for low speed bumper tests. @@mountainhobo Not necessarily. Sedans have very short bumpers, some cost 2x as much to repair while others cost significantly less. It all comes down to engineering, R&D. Getting rid of the CVT should help sales and later on, customer satisfaction. In my 2017 the head unit is trash. I also don't like that the window molding is held on by little pins on the window frame and holes in the rubber seals and is not glued to the frame. Little kids have grabbed it and pulled them out. Checking the oil is also a total PITA. It all comes down to how well this compares to the Telluride.

@@adtrance7308 ah ah, I understand. You know what you want which is definitely already a huge step in the right process, while simultaneously making it harder to make a decision because it becomes a balancing process of figuring out what's most important, I sympathize with that! I would suggest that as the time being if you're looking to make a decision decision maybe watch some other videos from different people just to get a grasp on the Kia Carnival, even though I know Alex's videos are easily the most helpful when it comes to making a purchase other input can come at a value cause opinions are always subjective. As for brand recognition and name neither Kia or Nissan have a highly reputable name, but people mainly bring up the same issues about each brands. Kias brand gets significantly impacted by the reports of engines catching fire since they didn't handle the situation with proper accountability so its gets buyers worried about dealing with the brand as a whole since they additionally aren't known to have the best dealership experience which you will have to evaluate based on your location. Nevertheless dealership experience is also an inevitability to face, but its also impossible to assume since I had an amazing experience in a hyundai dealership and an absolutely horrible experience in a Mazda dealership. With Nissan people consistently bring the brand down in regards to their CVT transmissions which the pathfinder is notably absent of, but even then aren't known to be horribly reliable. Unless it's really a Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Acura, or Lexus you will find lots of people quickly regarding a vehicle as trash despite statistics of reliability not being out for such a new model year, but there obviously is something to say about a brands history. Personally out of the brands I listed that normally get praised for reliability I really only find myself swooning over Mazdas and hard to grasp an attraction to a lot of aspects of the other brands, and all these brands additionally have their own downfalls. Aside from my personal opinion a car purchase is normally a big purchase for many people so it's important to think it through, but I truly really like the Kia brand and the carnival which is my own bias personally and the Nissans I've seen and been in have been typically boring and felt cheaply made even though they're normally regarded with the most comfortable seats in the business I dont resonate with that personally which is quite odd. You mightve known some of this stuff already which is perfectly fine and exciting as one average enthusiast to someone who may be an enthusiast, but is simultaneously in the market. I know you said that you were unsure of things such as Kias reliability so I tried to possibly reiterate some common information about some brands and maybe what to do and what to expect in possible further research. I understand this comment is long and commend you if you read the whole thing lol! Have a great day and no matter the purchase and big final decision I hope you have a good decision. Nissan is back in the game with new design language and ditching the least reliable CVT they have been using on all of their vehicles.
@chuckers40

Nissan is coming back big. I'm guessing all of their redesign or refresh vehicles will no longer offer CVT's (or will gradually start phasing the CVT's out). They will offer 8 or 9 speed automatics. All of their vehicles have had a refresh or a redesign with the exception of the Murano and their trucks.
@herrgolf
@herrgolf 3 жыл бұрын
Nahhhh... they outsourced this 9-speed which to me says they don’t intend to get rid of CVTs across the board. They are probably gonna put most of their money into EV development.
@liddlebopeep
@liddlebopeep 3 жыл бұрын
Nissan is still heavily invested in CVT's and JATCO which they aren't likely to give up soon; the 9-speed auto in this Pathfinder seems to be a one off .

@Alex on Autos *NISSAN DID WHAT MAKES SENSE! THEY LISTENED TO WHAT THE CUSTOMER ACTUALLY WANTED. NO MORE CVT* That alone makes them better than many other auto manufacturers today, too many others only hear what they want to hear from the governments, and industry councils. Now they need to get rid of them or at least give consumers a choice of CVT or regular automatic gearboxes in their other models.
