I've had my 22 SV for 6 months now, this review really sold me on buying it...over the RAV4 or CR-V. I get super mpg's, it's really quiet, smooth, no regrets. Oh, and this is the the only one in the running, when I was looking them all over, that does not have the annoying-as-hell engine stop-start! That right there helps put this over the top.

Just picked the base 2wd model last week. Superb engine, much better re-engineered trans, super fun to driver... you get this thing going and it does not want to stop. A comfortable, well equipped, fun, light on it's feet car. Nissan nailed it. EDIT: There are 2 other quick change modes for the shift ratios if you don't like the Standard; Eco and Sport. My wife prefers Sport because it downshifts quicker, I tend to use Eco for coasting... or I use the paddles, they are way more fun than they should be on a cvt.

Nailed this review bro! I just snagged one of this bad boy with Premium Package AWD for a great price despite of all the dealers doin crazy mark-ups on new and used cars these days. The new engine is fantastic, but i can agree that the long-term reliability of it is yet to be proved. However, Nissan wouldn't gamble on an engine as such if they're not confident, so guess we shall see. I was very impressed with the power delivery of this engine and i think they've done a great job re-engineering the CVT for this year. Nissan makes some of the best cars that are highly underrated.. they do have a lot of catching up to do though, but i think this was a step forward in the right direction.

People should also realize that they are pumping in a "fake" or simulated if you will engine sound through the stereo speakers. To make it sound like a V6. It's quite creative although other car manufacturers have done it before. Since there is obviously NO WAY a 3cyl engine would sound like this. I often wonder if your listening too music if that throaty engine sound goes away since music will be playing.

I test drove this car, and I liked it. Course, I did the FWD version. I live in eastern NC so we don't get snow here and if we do, everything is shut down. I'm a tad concerned about the 3-cylinder turbo engine. My uncle thinks the engine is a bad idea and it does make me nervous. Everything I read shows this engine would require high octane fuel. What's your take?
@rickitynick4463

Same with the 2wd model, I'm on Vieques and it's never colder than 75 lol. I can tell you it does run on regular gas... it's one of their sales points. As far as engine reliability, it's new for this car... but it's not at all new for Nissan. It's grandfather began it's life in the early 2010's and was put in the 2014 Hybrid Le Mans car; that 1.5l 3cyl turbo made 400hp and 285lb-ft. Small, efficient, reliable turbo charged engines are nothing new for Nissan, they've been doing it for decades.

Not if the engine is "designed" to run fine on regular 87 octane. A lot of turbos recommend premium octane to obtain the optimum HP, those engine manufacturers actually tell you that if you use a lower octane, expect lower HP results from that engine. But Nissan doesn't want to strap higher gas prices on their Rogue drivers ( around her premium grade over regular is 40 cents more per gallon! ) . My 22 Rogue is plenty fast enough on 87 octane, I just make sure it is clean gas (top tier).

From expensive personal experience, I have learned not to trust Nissan transmissions. Reading owner reviews on Edmunds and elsewhere, this seems to be a lesson many other Nissan owners have learned the hard way. Does anyone know if the updated CVT in the 2022 Rogue has better reliability than prior Nissan CVTs? Or is it too soon to tell? (Owners seem happy with their 2022 Rogues while many complained about the 2021 and earlier Rogues). The vehicle itself looks fine and has a lot of interesting features. But none of that means jack if you’re stranded by the side of the road waiting for a tow truck 700 miles from home because your transmission just blew up.

I had the2016 s awd traded it at 95,000 miles and I now have a 2018 sl awd with 97,500 miles with no problems I change the cvt fluid at 60,000 miles and will do it again at 100,000 miles. Had a 2012 versa traded it at 75,000 miles no problem. So I recommend the rogue but as for this new engine only time will tell.
@adamesd3699
@adamesd3699 Жыл бұрын
@@paulstanley3265 I am currently renting a 2022 Rogue. I like it. What’s strange is that it has the 2.5 four cylinder liter engine. I thought that engine had been replaced by the new 1.5 liter 3 cylinder turbo on all 2022 Rogues in the US (I’m in California). I guess the 2.5 continues on rental fleet cars. Good family vehicle. Decent tech, decent comfort, decent legroom front and back, and decent cargo room. It doesn’t excel in any of these categories compared to its direct competitors, but it is competitive. Handling, acceleration, etc., are also decent. Nothing special, but quite enough for a family vehicle. What I am very impressed by is the really tight turning radius. From what I’ve read, the turning circle is 35.4 feet, which is best in class, along with the Subaru Forester, slightly better than the RAV4, CX-5, CX-50, and blows away all the other “compact” family SUVs. One thing I don’t like is the design of the hood. The left and right sides of the hood sort of curve upwards, making it difficult to see low objects to the left front and right front corners of the car. Honestly, it feels better than when I test drove it a year ago. I believe Nissan improved the CVT for 2022 (at least with the 1.5 liter 3 cylinder), but I don’t know whether Nissan also improved something in the ride/handling, or if I’m just driving it less aggressively as a rental with my family on board, compared to when I test drove it alone and could test its handling limits.

@@joenissan It's because they added a fake simulated sound. That actually pumps through the stereo speakers. It does not sound like this outside of the vehicle if you rev the engine. It's quite an innovative idea and certainly not the first time a car manufacturer has done this. Many folks miss switching from a 6cyl to a 4cyl simply because of the sound they get from a V6. In this case a new 3cyl in this Rogue. However, this "fake" V6 sound should help fix that issue along with the power of the turbo engine. Honda should have done this with there CRV in my honest opinion. As there engine sounds quite "tinny sounding" almost like a diesel in a way.

Rav 4 or Rogue 2022 or Crv? Whats ur rank for these 3?
@WTFCRLT1
@WTFCRLT1 2 жыл бұрын
Power wise the rogue feels stronger than both so if I was leasing, I’d probably go rogue but if buying, the Bulletproof 2.5 and 8-speed for the Rav 4 make it hard to go with anything else. Buying: 1. Rav 4 2. Rogue. 3 CRV. Leasing: 1. Rogue 2. Rav 4 3. CRV. The CRV isn’t a bad suv by any means and I’m sure Honda did a great job with it even for long term reliability it just doesn’t really do anything better than the Rogue or Rav 4 in my opinion. At the end of the day though all 3 SUV’s are similar enough to just go with whichever you can get a better deal on haha

Recommendations don’t always mean much since post warranty problems aren’t the manufacturers concern. A lot of transmissions have “lifetime” fluid as a gimmick but after warranty you’re screwed since even lifetime fluid should be changed every 50-60k. High pressure turbo engines especially turbo 3 cylinders making over 200hp have always been recommended for higher octane premium fuel therefore I’d personally ignore the recommendations on that one. 87 could be fine tho especially if you’re only leasing through warranty I just have a little hesitation in the back of my head haha.
