2022 Planner System: Mapping Out Planning Needs

Hey there Planners! Today I am sharing the first step in my process for determine what planning system I will use in 2022. I begin by mapping out all of the areas of life where planning is needed. This ensures I set up planners that actually meet my needs (vs buying pretty planners and finding out they don't actually work for me.

I'm familiar with mind mapping but never thought of doing this for choosing a planning system. This is genius! I love this idea. How do you decide on the big bubbles? I feel that I have too many but maybe they can be a subset. For example I need to get up to speed with Finance so would that be better on its own or part of say a Home main bubble?

Great question. I will have a follow up video on for the next steps I take but in short I use the breakdown to see 1) how many planners I need 2) individual sections of the planner 3) format for the planner (blank notebook, timed hourly, extra notes pages, etc) and 4) how I need to organize information in a planner. For example, this mindmap tells me I need 3 monthly calendars for my personal planning; for family schedule, content planning and meal planning. So my planner needs to have lots of space on the monthly calendar or multiple calendars for each month. Hope this helps. Stay tuned for the next step! Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this. So many of the planner channels have their content based on their social media work. I really enjoy your content as you have a corporate job and it is different. I love the beautiful spreads they have but have yet to find what works for me.I am trying to determine what I need for next year both personally and professionally. This is great.
