Great episode. I'm sure most people do not know what goes into the assembly at a dealership after delivery. I know, I didn't know as much as you showed. In the line of thinking how to do something better as you do, you should take 2 oscillating square hole saws ( like to cut out drywall for an electrical box) and modify them to the same size as the holes for the vents. He wouldn't have to take as much time with the razor blade. 🙂. Keep up the good work, and have fun!

Seeing the Ural in the background really brought back some memories for me. I had a 2005 Ural Tourist that I bought brand new as my 1st motorcycle. I ended up selling it in 2015, and I still miss it from time to time. Riding became less and less fun as the number of mindless cagers on the road grew over the years near me.

As a truck driver who delivers these to dealerships daily, this was very interesting to watch. If they were fully assembled from the factory, I would only be able to fit 4 of them on my trailer. But with the roll cage removed and suspension compressed, I can fit 8 on my trailer with a split deck.

Loved the video. As others have mentioned I never knew that much prep work was required by the dealer.
@TheHobbyShop12 жыл бұрын
Definitely had no clue it was that involved. I always wondered why it was an add on fee vs. just being baked into the overall price. What I’m saying is why not just mark up the MSRP so that the true cost is transparent to the customer. I always get frustrated when you get nickel and dimed with prep and documentation fees and so on. That probably also depends on the dealer I imagine. Great video and thanks for the education. 👍🏼
@OneEyeCustoms2 жыл бұрын
@The Hobby Shop It really depends on what aftermarket parts you have the dealer install so that is what changes the prep fees.

Amazing videos Doug. I lost track of how many I watched tonight, sure am glad you came up as a suggested channel for me. The assembly video is great, we paid our dealer over $2k for prep and almost another $1k for installation for a windshield, back glass and the polaris upper doors. Unfortunately, I have a 1/4in - 1/2in gap between the windshield and dash that starts in the driver corner and goes up the roll cage about 8in and over a foot toward the passenger side. Wondering if you have any gaps or if Cody made adjustments on your unit with the windshield? Thank you,
@OneEyeCustoms Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and hope you subscribe to the channel. Yes I have a gap in mine on the passenger side. We tried everything to eliminate it. We even tried to readjust the roll cage as well as the windshield adjustments. I think the main problem is the windshield is not the same size as the bottom of the cage opening, it is not as wide as the opening. Since I posted that video, I have had several ask this same question. I think it is just a bad fitment from Polaris and has not been resolved!

There is quite a bit of work involved at the dealership level to make a sale. I worked sales, service & parts in Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Huskavarna Dealerships - all of these manufacturers provided their dealers with a "set up credit" for preping the machines along with a "suggested" sales price. The dealer was responcible for transportation costs including pick-up/delivery of the product from the manufacturer's warehouse and delvery to the dealership's retail space. As a part of the manufacture's and dealer's agreement, the dealership was responcible for providing customers with a ready-to-use product (Batteries WERE Included) which included assembly, topped off fluids, gasoline (etc.) as well as ensuring the SAFE and proper operation of the product before it could be sold to the general public. All these dealerships also SOMETIMES charged their customers additional set up/transportation/delivery fees, etc. on top of the suggested sales price but these fees were USUALLY reflected within the final selling price and were not always specificaly itemized on the purchase agreement...Most times these fees could be negotiated between the dealer and customer BEFORE a final purchase price was agreed upon...

Prep Fee???. he was installing extra added accessories for the most part. So many Polaris dealers add zero shipping. prep and setup costs and install Polaris accessories at no extra installation charge. just the cost of the accessory. I've purchased 9 new machines since 2016 from two separate Polaris dealers and have always paid less than MSRP and paid zero shipping, setup or prep. So in reality what you're paying for is increased profit direct to the dealer.

Nice job but why skip the initial sequence. The crates are unloaded off a trailer by machine, the crates are restacked in a safe storage area, the un-crating is an entire process in itself with the outer skin being removed and discarded, the metal crate disassembled and recycled, bubble type wrap taped to various components has to be removed and discarded, then you can see the machine. Some come with collapsed suspension, tires removed, and so on. I was interested to see the vid, but the sanitized version was a disappointment for me since I'm involved in prepping the machines for the mechanic to work his magic assembling it. Accessories, although profitable, ruin any rhythm for the mechanic doing the assembly. Oh, that type of windshield, the dreaded heater or windshield wiper install, a freaking sound system, power angle plow mount, and on and on. Nothing ever fits exactly, the wire routing looks great on paper but rubs on something else, to get to that bolt you have to remove an entire assembly, all the good things in life! These are the real behind the scenes stories I guess will never be told. Too bad.
@OneEyeCustoms2 жыл бұрын
@ATV Seat Exchange, I was not out there when the unit was delivered to be able to video it. With that added footage, I’m sure it would have made this video 45 minutes long and that’s when you start scaring away viewers. Thank you for adding your knowledge on those steps that were not recorded. I did want to capture the unit prep assembly parts as shown in this video and that is what I was able to capture.
