Does this recommendation also apply to the Matryx Assault? I'm 215 lbs, 70/30 trail rider running the stock spring on high and looking for better steering. Local shop didn't recommend going with the heavy duty, warned me about the increased rebound/kick and suggested shortening the limiter strap. (This without asking my weight or how I' ride my sled.) Love your channel Jesse, keep it up!

We have the same exact sled and I am surprised that you have had such a different experience than I have. I was bottoming the FTS on some bigger stuff so I went up 3 clicks on the High speed knob and it feels great, no bottoming. Springs are both set to 2 and they are much stiffer than what is on my 2020 XC 850 so I am inclined to think that my XCR came with heavier springs like they were supposed to. Or my springs on 2020 are just that worn out... hey who knows. If this is what works for you then run it!

Picked up a set of HD torsion springs today for my 2023 VR1 129 after trying my buddy's 2023 XCR with HD TS yesterday. Hopefully, will help keep front skis planted. Weigh 165-170 # but add plenty to tunnel weight with Gatorade, water, and quart of 2 cycle oil so closer to 190 # for sure. Need HD TS anyway when I eventually put two up seat on. Have Velocity shocks backed off three clicks from all the way in. I know you and Bruce Sr. said adjust front springs as well but is shortening limited strap needed to keep skis planted? Moved the stock springs to high setting and it was much better. What options does one have for springs on the FTS and Front shocks?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 2 жыл бұрын
hey Dru. so yes definitely go with teh HD in the rear. they will make a difference. The front ski springs on a VR1 are only 80 pound springs. I would recommend going with the 100 pound springs that come on the XCR from the factory. The FTS is also soft on the VR1 and i would recommend either the hygear dual rate (what i run) or a straight 150 pound spring which i have also run. Valving i also recommend and i would say to give Bruce SR at southside sales and service a call. tell him i sent you and he will get you all set up with valving and springs. Thats who does all of mine! any questions let me know

shocks are for dampening, not ride height and supporting the weight of you and the sled. Yes you can run the clickers in and it will stiffen it up but if the springs are too soft there is not amount of clicks that will help you. This is a known thing that polaris trail sleds come under sprung. Its extremely noticeable. These HD springs changed the entire sled (in a good way). If you are so under sprung there is no shocks out there that will work how they are suppoesed too

Dealer should sit you on it and setup sag. My girlfriends vr1 came with no preload on the front ifs which was sagged at 2.6 inches now I have 1.5 inches of free sag after putting an 1.6 inches of preload in the springs. There was 6.5 on the rear after making the fts to its minimum of 1.75 inches and the tortions at high it is 4.5" and now rideable and not pushing. No wonder people die on these brand new sleds the first or second trip. Polaris should also put in their manual proper sag and ride heights instead it's just a vague min, max setup. They claim they don't want liability so they leave it out.
