These days I ride more with my daughters so that’s throttled me back a lot but I was wondering if this linkage would help make the ride a little more plush and do you think I’d need the shock done. Not really looking to make it stiffer

Jesse/Bruce, 21 Assault with studded 1.6 track, fairly aggressive trail rider here. 80% trail, 20% off trail. Question is, XPT or XCS? Minnesota trails, so just call it flat land and some ditches. My gut says XPT for the effort on the bars. Also, what carbide would you run? Stock skis have me pushing pretty bad in the corners and I’ve gone with 8” carbides only to suffer with tougher steering effort.
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Күн бұрын
the XPT i believe is the ski for 99.9% for everyone. The XCS is a great ski for certain applications but the XPT does it all! i would go XPT

I have been using C&A skis for the trail past 14 years. Its perfect when you modify wear bars (carbides) just for 2 center bolt length. It gives that lighter steering with precise turning without darting. Biggest problem with C&A skis is that people are using too aggressive carbides which makes steering really heavy. Go for the least aggressive version and cut it just for 2 center bolts and its perfect for any modern sled.

Great content. Bought the XCS for my son two seasons ago, and too much effort on the bars for me. Assume that my ski of choice would be the XPT ( both of us own Assaults ) since I'm on the trail 90% of the time. Temps are cooler, and the neighbor has started picking his grapes ... giving me the itch to pull the sleds out of the trailer and getting them prepared for the season !

The XCS's are big boy skis. They are serious and just like we said do add a decent amount of effort needed. The XPT's are a different animal and really what you want 99.9% of the time!

Got some c and a pro skis for my 22 xcr 136. I was wondering when you got your xcrs if you ever compared the factory skis to your c and a skis on snow or if you just put them on before even riding on snow. Having never had the c and a skis on snow yet I’m guessing im going to have some oversteer compared to factory skis. Basically wondering just changing the skis what modifications did you have to adjust on yours. I have the 8 inch woody mavericks which may be overdoing it since I don’t have studs.
@JESSEJAMES322

shouldnt have to make any changes. these should be a good addition. will have more positive steering and the sled will go where you want it too. and you want the 8's. great combo

It's funny you guys mentioned guys who ride studs their whole life and going to a non studded sled is hard. Lol because guys like me who have never ridden a sled with studs and I'm 34 and rode every winter for as long as my first memories started, we don't even notice anything difficult about it. When guys who run studs tell us we're are riding death traps and we're just like "meh". And we laugh out butts off when some snowmobile journalist make a video of studs vs no studs and just throttle jockeying the non studded sled on bare ice lol I don't know if other non studded riders do this unconsciously or if studded guys do this. But I can usually tell when a slippery corner or what ever before I get to it and know how to use my legs to hold the tunnel under me and just kinda let the carbides do their thing. Plus throttle control. Do guys on studs pay much attention the the terrain and texture of the trails? Still very cool to see the progression of woodys
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 15 күн бұрын
regardless of how tight you hold the tunnel its still going to slide no matter what. as we specified in the video its a huge safety factor with stopping, getting up hills etc. you couldnt pay me to ride a non studded sled but we all have our preferences

@@JESSEJAMES322 see just what I said about telling us it's dangerous ;) lol just messing with you. Oh I've had a few sketchy moments with ice lol the screw in "studs" do catch my eye. They would make those few sketchy moments better off. Not like studs of course. I do have a few questions though. Do studs allow for some rear end slide still? Because I like a track with some side slide. It helps keep the front end from needing a setup for a lot of ski pressure. And low steering effort .I like rear weight transfer.

Hi Jesse quick question. Do you know if Polaris has a fix coming for the fuel static discharge issue? I bought a 2024 XCR that is under the recall. They keep telling me they are sending a fuel additive free of charge but I don't feel that is an acceptable fix. I see they are producing 2025 sleds with no recall yet I am told to use fuel additives. Thank you in advance for any info you may have.
@TonySchmidt-t4e
@TonySchmidt-t4e 23 күн бұрын
I just bought a new sled also. They told me to keep the fuel tank full during the off season and you will be good to go. The problem was people are storing their sled almost empty and that's the problem. Something about inside the tank with moisture during the Summer that makes the static situation. When it's cold out, like during the riding season you should be good to go. Don't have to worry about having the gas tank full. Unless maybe you store it in a heated garage.
