I fully agree! I went through a year long battle with VW just to get them to take their car back. They will delay sorting out the issue so that the 6 month mark passes (after 6 months you cannot get a replacement car, or any product for that matter), and so that you tack up kilometres which will make it difficult for them to give you a replacement vehicle. VW needs to be taught a lesson that they will never forget!!!

Had a similar problem we experienced with our 2019 Tiguan Rline 2.0 TDI 4motion. Bought it last year May at VW in Port Elizabeth, needless to say, we only had the car for 2 weeks and it spent almost 3 months in the garage. So the issue we had was that the car constantly through the “check water pump” alert but no leaks or anything wrong was happening. Took the car in to VW in Queenstown and they asked to keep the car to run a few tests on the car (pressure tests checking for leaks etc) including other mechanical problems. This took about 2 months or so. (We got a courtesy car from the dealer) Car came back 30 July 2021 - after all pressure tests were done. 3 days later, the alert popped up again, took it to VW Menlyn because I had driven from EC to Pretoria that week and they sighted no issues on the water pump and engine but they raised a concern regarding glow plugs that needed to be changed. Fast forward a few days later, I tried starting the car and that became a mission as the starter would delay when trying to start the car. When the car eventually started, a white cloudy smoke came from the exhaust both when idling and driving. So I immediately called VW and parked the car on at t he nearest garage. When i checked the water pump, it was empty but there was no leaks under the car or from the water pump bottle. So i called VW Queenstown (as this was my nearest dealership) because i was back in the EC, they advised me on which coolant to get temporarily, bought that and poured it in the vehicle, drove back home to park the car (this is about a 5min drive from where i was parked) upon arriving in my drive way, i checked the coolant level i just poured only to find that it was all finished and the bottle was empty again. Still no leaks from the bottle or underneath the car. Following day the car was towed to VW in Queenstown and I got another courtesy car from the dealership at no cost. After a few weeks, the dealership couldn’t identify the issue and they basically gave up on the car… To my luck at that time they had just released the 2021 Tiguan Rline, so with lovely assistance from the team that side, the dealership ended up buying the botched 2019 Tiguan Rline back and i got the 2021 Tiguan Rline.

Spoke to the salesman who helped me a few weeks back and he told me that they eventually managed to fix the vehicle (never really got into what was the issue or how it was fixed) but he mentioned that they had sold it to a new owner.
@KamoheloRamone2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the coolant was leaking into the engine probably due to a faulty head gasket. This is a common issue on old VW cars but I've never seen it on such a new model. They probably didn't want to admit they sold you a faulty car as you could successfully sue them once they admit liability
@giftgiqwa66222 жыл бұрын
@@KamoheloRamone makes sense, honestly having a "new faulty car" is nothing i wish on anyone, It's one hell of a frustrating back and forth with the dealership. I'm just glad we managed to get out of the vehicle without any hassles. its been 9 months with the 2021 Tiguan Rline and we haven't experienced any faults.

Is unfortunate, but you can experience such issues with any brand , you were just unlucky that this car landed in your hands , even though they come from the same assembly line there will always be cars that give such problems due to various reasons, e.g an assembly line worker who came to work with a babalas and did poor workmanship fitting the brakefluid system. Used to work at Ford assembly and sometimes not tightening that one bold can cause problems that technicians at the dealership will never be able to solve . If you want peace of mind it will be best to get rid of it , unless they can really find what the problem is

Most Dealerships try and get you to sign away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act and substitute the Motor Industry Ombudsman. The CPA provides for a refund in a case such as this but trying this under the MIO is an uphill battle. The MIO is after all the industry buddy group and not there for the purchaser. @francoisknoetze39192 жыл бұрын
Sounds like 2 faulty sensors by the look of it. Unfortunately just being “done” with a car is not that easy. You can blame a dealership for the problem but at the end of the day this is a manufacturer issue which needs to be taken up with VW HO. The dealership is there to help solve the issue and guide the customer to solve the problem. Going with the methodology that once something is broken it is no longer the same is also incorrect. The parts that are replaced deemed faulty is brand new and carries a 2 year warranty.The vehicle comes with a warranty of 3 years and not a lifetime guarantee. It is man made. Some cars have faults others don’t. But it is easily fixed if the right TPI’s and faulting finding procedures are done.Please just be aware that if your car is within 6 months the selling dealer has the right to: repair, replace(if repairs don’t fix the problem) or if all else fails take back if the vehicle isnt in a driving condition.
