Loving the content man! I live in Dubai and this is my little slice of home because I love cars and always miss SA. I had a Skoda Octavia (part of VW group) highest spec here in Dubai with wireless CarPlay, 360 cameras, dual zone climate control and honestly all the extra features become more of a pain as they seem to multifunction or stop working at the most crucial times. I now have a base spec VW Teramont and because everything is standard it works perfectly I haven’t once had any issue whatsoever. I also had a 2017 Jetta before that and it never missed a beat. The higher spec and the more tech the more issues I feel you will have with VW as much as we love their cars it’s not worth it sometimes.

Sold my Polo GTI AW and bought a BMW.I have zero issues. I like the Golf 8 GTI but to many software issues too. So I will stay with Bavaria for now. Wolfsburg will have to fix there stuff.

Hi Muzi. In all honesty I’ve been a long time VW fab, owning about 6 VWs, and your right the after sales service from VW is crap and the build quality is not what it used to be. VW is not the peoples car anymore. This is why I sold my last VW and got a Suzuki, and so far I’ve got nothing but joys and smiles. Good luck with the car man.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. I bought a 2022 Polo GTI in Australia in May, which is also made in South Africa. I’ve driven 1000km, and fortunately have not experienced any of your issues. VW offers 5 year warranty on new cars in Australia, hope I have better treatment if I need it.

Bra Muzi tiri yini...with regards to the front sensors going off randomly. Something you can try to look at is your front license plate holder, it sometimes may interfere with your front sensors that are close to the numberplate holder. Just a thought.

Shame sorry man that’s VW for you. It was so heartbreaking when my much admired and beautiful car(2020 Highline R Line) got to be towed by a flatbed 3 times because it would just die or the auto start function malfunction.the heater or aircon blowing max became the lesser problem .ended up selling the car because the 6 months had lapsed.now waiting for a delivery of my Starlet.

Mr Sambo sir, this is very heartbreaking..Come to think that this is the second car from the same brand to give you these problems! I see a lot of these used (including the 1.0 life and R line)facelift models on dealership floors. All of them with less than 8k kilometres,one had 1287 kilometres on the clock. People must be breathing through the wound with these.

The air vents blow ‘HOT’ air only when you turn the AC completely off at the ‘highest temperature’. Therefore if you don’t want the hot coming out the vents turn off the AC at the lowest temperature.

That's not good. The new polo finally arrived in Australia 3 months late. I am going to wait till next year cars are to expensive at the moment hopefully they come back down a little. And hopefully next year's model has surged the issues out. Not sure if ours have problems yet seeing they just arrived. Good luck.

I have had an issue since new on my 2020 GTI plus, it is a knock/pop noise from around the rear offside area around the petrol cap/rear suspension area. Seems to get much worse in hot weather, mainly an issue at low or medium speeds and particularly when turning. The car has been in VW for a total of 5 weeks at 3 different times, they still can’t diagnose it or say that they can’t replicate it. Really annoys me as I love the car apart from this. Fed up with it now and mentally exhausted of trying to get it sorted.

It's so weird that a locally made vehicle is giving so much problems, I'm from PE/GQ and I know that The Polo is manufactured in Uitenhage and the parts are assembled in PE, VWSA export the Polo to 38 other countries and the Polo GTI is only made here in SA, nowhere else. For it to have so many faults and problems is a Turn-off, also find it weird to hear that the parts has to come from Germany

These things happen, there are other cars coming out of SA that never had such issues. They should recall it just like Toyota recalled their cars in the US some years ago, citing different issues. Plus, all that tech was bound to pose issues in cars eventually -- older cars didn't pose such issues, because they weren't so complex.
