Wow, great review Moto-Man!!! I have owned two GTS cars. The last was a 991.1 2016 Cabriolet. I survived a head-on collision 💥 from a Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually pick-up. The guy was running from the Police and hit me going 79mph. I was going 28mph turning through a 60• turn being the 3rd car in line. I only had enough time to say “Oh” not enough reaction time to say “Oh Shit”. The 3 airbags in the Porsche saved my life. 7 surgeries later I am almost back to normal after 3 years. Had I been in my convertible Corvette I would have been killed. So safety in a Porsche is most definitely proven. The price of my 2016 GTS Cabriolet was $145K and it was loaded in options. This GTS Coupe at $170K is just too damn expensive and overpriced by Porsche. Add 20K more and buy the 911 Turbo for significantly improved car. I replaced my destroyed GTS with a 2019 991.2 Turbo S. This is my 17th Porsche. I say save and get the Turbo or Turbo S. The GTS coupe should be priced at no more than 150K with lots of options. Rear steering & PDCC should be included in the GTS price. Every damn Porsche should include lane departure & warning plus the software only enhanced power steering plus. (Ridiculous what Porsche steals from its loyal customers!!!!!!

The big issue with the sport front fascia is that you lose the active shutters, and you lose the protection for the radiators. That’s a big problem: now a stone can puncture one of those radiators, which will put an end to your journey. Note how the GT cars have a mesh grill to protect the radiators!

@@slowgreencar3734 there are issues, check the forum. AMG GT cars had no protection in the first year, but then MB added mesh filters and retrofitted all cars. Porsche should do the same. If a stone nicks a radiator fin you are stranded! This is not a minor mishap - you are waiting for a tow.

In my younger days, I always thought Porsches were underpowered. But the older I get the more I see how power is NOTHING without control. The 911 is the perfect car for what it is. There isn't another car better when you rate it based upon: Price Value (holding it over time) Reliability Styling Performance Daily Drivablilty NOTHING is close to the 911 IMO. What a great car. Im interested to see how the 911 electrifies over time. I think they may take the lambo route and move towards hybrid technology. Tough call. Great for the track. Good support. Changes the entire personality of the car. Ingress/egress is severely hampered. Very personal decision for everything but a full on GT car. In the GT cars, the question is whether or not the added US$5,900 increases the value of the car.

So, I’m curious about a car like this. Does the car come with the upgraded seat package? And would they happen to be a fixed back seat? I’m building my first car, kinda following Porsche’s model and I’m looking at sparco r333 seats, but I want to know if a competition fixed back seat with nice upholstery is worthy of being a DAILY driver? 😅
@ThorsteinKlingenberg3 жыл бұрын
I would LOVE a GT3 with rear seats. But sadly, it won't happen. So the GTS is the second best thing. But if you add the lightweight package or just the buckets you loose the rear seats! Which is the whole point (for me) about the GTS. Everyday usability. I have a small girlfriend and she fits in the back just fine so we're three people in the car quite regularly, at least monthly. I like that versatility. Now the worst part is Porsche makes folding buckets. Hell, even my 981 Cayman GTS buckets folded. They folded to nothing of course since there isn't anything behind the Caymans seats but yeah. It's a bit weird.
@Diamondsintherubble3 жыл бұрын
@@ThorsteinKlingenberg I’m wondering about fixed back comfort. My car is going to have a roll cage in it, so only the front 2 seats will be usable. The rear will have things like the fusebox, fire extinguisher, front harness, and maybe small luggage. Another thing I’d like to know about the seats is the support. The side bolsters on the reclining sparco r333 looks to be made only of foam, with no “backbone” inside them. Whereas, a sparco competition seat like the grid-q has stiff support in the side bolsters. The car isn’t going to be cornering INSANELY hard, however it’ll have a nice feel around twisty roads. And has to fit a wide range of driver’s/passengers from petite women/kids to semi-large men

Porsche needs to give their customers some true lightweight models like they used to. Strip out everything that’s not needed and make some significant reductions in weight. The 1967 911S weighed 1030kg/2271lbs but the lightweight 911R knocked 500 lbs off that and came in at 800kg/1764lbs! A more accessible car like the 1973 Carrera RS weighed 960kg/2116lbs which is 115kg/254lbs lighter than the 1973 911S and a big cut in weight that earns the right to truly be called a lightweight. The 55 lbs “Lightweight Package” on this GTS is a joke. Especially when it costs almost $10k! If they don’t reduce weight by at least 150 lbs or more they shouldn’t be allowed to call it a Lightweight. At least in my opinion.

@@MotoManTV can’t wait to see it. Auto manufacturers today could offer stripped down variants but most choose not to. Porsche could make a 911 or Cayman with manual cloth seats, no audio system or A/C, stripped sound deadening, manual wind up windows and a basic heating and ventilation system instead of heavy dual zone climate controls on top of the usual lightweight stuff like thinner glass and carpets or carbon fiber where possible and be able shed in excess of 200 lbs. but most people don’t really want a car that stripped down so they end up adding weight back in on options like A/C, navigation, leather and other creature comforts. Instead of removing weight they should start with a bare body in white and only add the components that are truly needed or required by law and I’ll bet they’d end up with a significantly lighter car. Unfortunately they wouldn’t sell enough to make a good profit and justify the development and production costs. Porsche has been one of the most profitable car manufacturers in the world for years for a reason so the chances of them doing something like that are pretty slim.
