Beautiful ride, thanks for taking us along. You're a pair of lucky bastards having that route on your doorsteps. Unless you get the big one, that is, in which case you'll be a couple of unlucky bastards. I recently traded my R1200R for a 2019 1250RT, same colour as yours and I'm lovin' it. I'm from UK but I travelled down that highway in the early 1980s onboard a Yamaha XS850 Special. Loved the bends around Big Sur, felt the suspension working hard for once! See you down the road.

Nice ride Jed. I could smell the ocean sitting in my recliner. Really like how the GPS is now a part of the entire cluster on these newer models, but it would be cool if BMW made it dedicated, instead of having to use the connected app, and I think it would be really cool if they let you use the entire screen for the GPS, instead of that little space on the right side.

Thanks David. Agree -- using the app is a bit (but just a bit) of a nuisance. You can use the whole screen for GPS, though, and you can zoom in and out. It is actually very cool. I just had it set up on the side like that at the time.

Any regrets yet? I am 95-99% off road and my version of off road is gravel, thinking rt will be more suitable ror me. Plus I love tech such as ACC radio and speakers

I can't do a 2 yr owners review because ... I don't have it anymore! But I stand by every compliment I have ever paid the RT. It is a phenomenal bike, and it is hard to imagine a better sport tourer. Kenny still has his, and he still thinks as highly of it, maybe more.

Great video, what camera are you using and where did you mount it on your helmet?

Hey, thanks Pierre. I use a GoPro Hero 9 attached to my helmet via a 3-D printed mount that is stuck to the chin guard of the helmet. I think there are a number of companies making these mounts now, but here's a link to a video in which I discuss the mount: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4iud5yigJKErLs

@@pierredulude4944 Good choice of bike! My GoPro is several years old. The newer versions are even more capable. Some prefer the Insta360 cameras. You should check them out as well. I still think the 360 footage is a bit of a gimmick, and I prefer the stabilization and color processing of the GoPro.

@@TheJedRides thank you for the advice, I will keep that in mind. I plan on finishing Route 66 this summer. Started it last year in J7ne but the heat was unbearable so in Kansas City, headed back to Memphis and did the Smokey’s. I plan on crossing Canada Again and this time from Vancouver I’ll take the 1 south and follow the ocean to the end of #66 head back towards Kansas City then south to Corpus Cristy. After, heading back east and will try to stay Oceanside all the way to Maine. Already have almost 24,000 miles on her. Had a custom seat made just north of Seattle last summer and what a difference in comfort. Thanks again for your suggestion

I'm just north of San Francisco and ride Highway 1 at least once or twice a week. While I think the section of Highway 1 between Bodega Bay and Fort Bragg is a better "motorcycling" section than the Big Sur area, it's really hard to top the view/scenery of the section you road. You hit the jackpot when it came to weather, simply awesome weather that day. I grew up down in SLO so when I visit family I try to ride down along the coast, at times the views are truly stunning. If you're bored, a couple weeks ago I posted videos of riding Highway 1 in Mendocino County back down to Marin County, so foggy at times I could barely see the ocean. Is there going to be a part 2 of the video? Happy with my KTM but I keep eyeing the RT's.

Kenny agreed with you. I can’t weigh in because I’ve not ridden that stretch, but I’ll check out your videos - thanks! And, no, there is not a Part 2 to this one. We rode up to Moterrey, across to Salinas and back to Atascadero. I wish, though, that I had filmed the 58 from Atascadero back to the 5 -- crazy cool road worth checking out.
