By far the most precise, to the point, imformative with visuales and most importantly a short video.

Front fuel/water separator, if you continue to turn yellow know, it will drain the fuel out of the bottom, just like the rear filter. You then take the filter out.

For your front fuel filter, I recommend using a six point socket a 12 will tear it up six points. You always use on plastic..

very accurate - it is messy, just saw the suggestion on plastic tubing which is great idea. On bottom filter, i went to tighten back up the "bleed valve" and the cheap plastic snapped right off - I did not over tighten. So $140+ later for whole new valve cap, not sure I saved any money changing filters myself.

And in the bonehead department, on bottom filter I wasn't careful about gasket placement since a couple days had gone by before getting my new fuel cap. I put gasket in bottom channel/groove and when went to start, diesel came pouring out. After looking at video again and stopping on picture, realized the gasket goes up into second groove/channel where the thread starts - and all was good when I reinstalled. Will not make that mistake again -doubled the diesel smell on clothes :).

I have lifetime free oil changes on my 2022 3500 DRW Limited, but I'll change the fuel filters at home. I did my own fuel filters on my 2016 and 2018 and it was a easy, but this new canister filter will be a breeze. I'm going to use a small hose to assist draining so it doesn't make a mess. Thanks for the vid.

Just did my 2021. Glad I wasn’t the only one who struggled unscrewing the rear filter cap. Couldn’t they design this stuff better??

Use a 5/16 ID clear line thats about 3ft long and attach it to the rear drain. WAY less mess.

The local dealer wanted $475 to change the filters out on my 22 2500 6.7L. $100 for the filters, had the sockets, and 30 minutes later, all done. Dealer was slightly upset when I told them only change the engine oil as I just changed the fuel filters. Also, read the fine print on dealer's service contracts of you are thinking of getting one. Mine covered all the oil and fluids but NOT fuel filters.

Dealerships are a scam they absolutely overcharge everything all the time

Mine didn't cover anything & charged me $255 for an oil change. Won't be going there again

Dang, I was wondering about that. I paid about the same for my first filter change, but I won't pay it again. I'll just do it myself.

You don’t have to make a big mess if you use a hose to drain the diesel pressure it makes for faster cleaner job.

And for your fuel water, separator, use a hose and run it down to a clean bottle so you can reuse the fuel.

Do you have to do any kind of priming or anything? I just bought my truck a couple months ago and it sits most of the time but I’m getting down to 30% fuel filter life and don’t want to drop 500$ on something I can do myself.
@ex9lh7th7k Жыл бұрын
Yes, I turn the key, (but do not start) you were here your chine three I think for maybe giant. I do that about four times. I turn the key here the charms turn it back off repeat four times and usually it’s very good to start.

It’s very easy to do after you complete your fuel filter change don’t turn the truck on what you want to do is turn your key halfway on without turning the truck on and do that for eight times and that should re-prime your fuel filters and lines again. Hope this helps.
