My trailboss is leveled and I put 35’s on the stock 18inch wheel and it rubs on sharp turns, the only way to eliminate the rub is to add the 4 inch lift of top of the stock 2 inch if you want to run 35’s

Thanks for the video my brother truck looks bad ass 🤘🏾. I have a 19 TB and this is the exact look I’m going for. I essentially wanted a 6in lift but after getting this truck now I just want to lift the front up with the sat ready lift and throw some better tires on it. I’ve been back and forth on if I wanted to run the 295x70 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss on the stock 18’ or get the Nittos in 33’s or 35’s with the 20in reps. Once again thanks for the video definitely gave me the vision I’m looking for ✊🏾

You’re welcome man. Anytime. I really like those Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires. They look awesome. I saw another YT channel on here that had a trail boss with some of those on it. They look good. I went with the 35x11.50r20 Recon Grappler because I found a YT channel called LMFSCREW that got some and I loved the way they look. Plus my father in law was able to get me a deal on them. I only paid $1,500 which is pretty good for a 35” Nitto. I almost screwed up and drove too long after the lift before getting a front end alignment. Just went this morning. I think either way you go, you will be happy. I do love the way these trail bosses look with 35’s though. Thanks for watching man.

@@bamaknifeguy I follow LMFSCREW too that guy is a beast when it comes to trucks 🤣. I’m sure we probably seen the same video too on the Baja’s. I like how the 20’s look but with the 18’s it gives it a more beefier look. They haven’t made the Recons in 18’s yet that’s why I consider the MT. But you definitely caught a steal on the Recons for that price. When will you be putting the spacers on the back? I would like your opinion on it. I was thinking going with the 2” boras
@bamaknifeguy
@bamaknifeguy Жыл бұрын
@@bryanbrown553 I ordered them yesterday so hopefully they will be in soon. I just went with 1/2” for the back too. I’m afraid of rocks kicking up and it would rub more with the 35’s if I did 2” on front. I know some guys that run the 2” with no rubbing issues on stock rims with 33’s on a Chevy but with 35’s it may be an issue because the wider the spacer the more it can cause rubbing.

I’ve heard of some guys having issues with the lifters and having the dreaded engine issues. I’m hoping mine holds up. I’m at 28k now and holding strong. I bought the 22 model and mine was produced shortly after GM finally acknowledged the lifter issue and begun working to fix the issue so I’m hopeful that mine is solid. We will know soon enough and trust that if I have any mechanical failure I will absolutely be dropping the results on here. So far so good and fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that it keeps performing as it should. With a 60k power train warranty I’m not overly concerned but it’s still in the back of my mind for sure. Thanks brother.

I know this isn't the highest concern with this build, but I'm curious, the tires from stock to this, approximately what did your lose in fuel mileage? I've got a 22 Trailboss 5.3 with the 10spd, but I've got an overland rack and roof top tent on it. Already only getting around 15mpg on the highway. Really want a 285/75/18 wildpeak but I'm concerned about losing another 2mpg. Thanks in advance!

It is WAY more of a concern than I thought it was going to be. Lol 😂. I was getting an average of around 24mpg prior to the lift and tires. Now I’m at around 16-17 mpg. It definitely kicked my ass on the mileage. Mine is a 22 Trail Boss with 5.3 and 10 speed also.

Hey man. They rubbed slightly before I did the lift and all. I’m running the Ready Lift SST 2.0 lift and 1/2” wheel spacers in the front. I like them. They feel solid. Didn’t change the way the truck feels or steers. I almost went with the 1.5” and apparently when you use 1.5” on the trail boss you don’t have to cut your existing studs if you’re using the stock wheels. The stock wheels have cutout pockets on the back where the stud has room. I still may do it. Haven’t decided just yet. BORA is absolutely the way to go though for sure. Best quality.

I don’t use 4 wheel auto. I never have on any truck I’ve owned 🤷🏼‍♂️. I live in the southeast so there isn’t snow and ice here very often and if I am off-road in a situation where 4x4 will be needed I usually just lock into 4x4 so I’m not sure.

@bamaknifeguy Makes sense. Unfortunately, we can get weeks of ice and snow storms in a row so the roads out here in the backcountry can be snowed in for over three months so I use it a lot when it's tough but not 4 wheel drive tough

@bamaknifeguy I'm still on the fence about getting a 2" lift and am leaning towards getting Bilsteins for the front and rear and getting 1¼ inch lift up front from the 5100's so I can put 35x11.3R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on at the same time. I'll keep the auto setting, get a much better suspension, and the lift in front, and the bigger tires
@bamaknifeguy
@bamaknifeguy Жыл бұрын
@@Johnthedagger That’s not a bad idea. I have seen a couple dudes run those and they seem to work great. I wanted the 2” to get all of the front rake out of it but now I’m going to eventually have to put the 3” riser blocks in the rear because I ended up with like 2.5” of lift in the front which made it sit a little low in the rear. I think a 1.25”-1.5” lift probably would have been the move so I bet those shocks will work out better than what I have honestly. That will be a sweet setup. The only reason I went with the 35”x11.5” Nitto Recon Grapplers is because I don’t see many people running them and they are still aggressive enough to get off-road and still be effective. It’s a really nice tire. I will definitely buy them again after I burn up this set.

Did you ever have any rubbing issues?
@bamaknifeguy
@bamaknifeguy Жыл бұрын
Very mild. Only in reverse when the wheel is at full lock. I can hear a minor rub on the mud flat then. Going forward is no issue. Even deep dips in parking lots haven’t been an issue. Just reverse hard turns. And there is a mod that fixes that. I just haven’t done it yet. There is a metal bracket that can be removed behind the wheel liner in that location to prevent the rub by allowing more room.

@bamaknifeguy
@bamaknifeguy Жыл бұрын
Well the guy I got the tire idea from (LMFSCREW) on KZbin tried the 1/4 and said it wasn’t quite enough. The other reason I like the 3/8” or 1/2” minimum is because they have that Hub Centric Ring that sits inside the wheel and the spacer itself has a recess in the back of it that sits on your existing hub. The 1/4” spacers wouldn’t have that. Especially the ones you buy at Advanced Auto or Auto Zone or something like that. I wouldn’t trust them. If you watch the last vid I posted before this one, I showed the spacers and explain that a bit more. Without the hub centric ring, all the weight of the truck is sitting on the lug studs and that is super sketchy and causes a lot of vibration too because it wouldn’t be perfectly centered. I would recommend a 3/8” minimum and definitely use Bora Wheel Spacers from CustomOffsets.com

If you are just doing a 1.75 kit without replacing the Upper Control Arms you can run whatever size you can squeeze in there. If you are going to be using the Ready Lift upper control arm replacements then your stock tires will clear them just fine. It’s only when you start getting to 11.50 wide like mine or 12.50 wide that you run into the issue with the sidewall of the tire contacting the upper ball joint. 👍🏼 hope that helps.
