Head sculpts are great. The articulation is standard McFarlane stuff. For Ultraman: Looks like the combined torso from Bizarro and the abdomen and legs from Spermam 1000. Starro accessories are excellent. Definitely a picking these chaps up and away. Jolly good review sir.

This is the year mcfarlane makes his figures perfect he has gotten a lot better in the short time hes had the DC license. Way happier than when mattel owned the line

I actually really like the ultra man. Ugly articulation is kind of just common place for Todd's dcm. The guy doesn't know how to engineer articulation that works and looks good. He should really just hire somebody that does. It blows my mind how little range these figures have given how many articulation cuts there are in the sculpt. There's no reason these shouldn't move aswell as a Mafex figure. They have all the same articulation cuts.

I collect these figures because im a huge dc fan and they do put out good ones here and there but there are still things that annoy the hell out of me and I wish people would talk about them more.

Thanks for reviewing these figures for us. I like that Batman head sculpt. Ultraman's feet and calves are way too small and his fists look like they are swollen. But even with that I would buy him. I like the Crime Syndicate.

The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh's head is the closest to a Neil Adams style head we have ever gotten. Minus the pock scarred face & Purple Cowl

The problem with McFarlane's torso articulation is because the whole ball peg is buried deep and enclosed in the socket, that's why it is impeded. The socket should have a 25 degree opening for the ball peg to move around it. It's a simple engineering problem, they can't seem to figure.

Great review of both, thanks. I would think McFarlane that going forward this will be the new combination for new Superman figures. It seems the combo of parts make him taller than Rebirth Superman. Toy Shiz can you confirm if the combo of parts makes Ultraman taller than Rebirth Supes. If it does I may pick up a couple to correct the height on Bizarro, Rebirth, and the Jokerized Superman.

I don't mind the look of Ultraman, however.... I have never been into the Crime Syndicate. That being said, I will pick up this wave for Starro. Hoping each figure comes with a smaller Starro accessory.

Got say Shiz, I completely disagree about Ultraman, I think he looks awesome, and I think that the articulation looks fine, and I’m happier to have it than not, including the ball joints (which you’ve got to admit have be look better compared to the early days)

Ultraman is extremely lazy. Todd could have really gone all Gonzo with that figure in particular and at least have given him an angry face because the character is the mean version of Superman or the Superman 2 version of Superman if you will. Otherwise of course I'm going to have to pick up at least the Ultraman at some point

Well it's accurate because it's based on the art of Kieran McKeown. The thing is, they could have chosen a better art or version of Ultraman to base on. I don't like it especially the weird egg buckles around his waist.

I always say, engineering of articulation on these McFarlane DC figures is my major gripe. I recently grabbed the Spawn Soul Crusher figure, who much like Zur-En-Arhh Batman has tall laced boots, but it's done soooo much better on Soul Crusher, with an ankle joint that is kinda like the typical ball joints, but is sculpted to fit with the rest of the boot and provide mostly the same articulation without awkwardly breaking the sculpt. It just feels like so often Todd really phones it in on the DC stuff.
