We know we can easily buy at Macy's, but considering the "prices as shown" you've provided in your vids, it's like we're shopping at Oscar de la Renta in New York City! While purists will shy away from a fishing boat that does not have an outboard hanging off the transom, they maintain tremendous fishability while providing the peace of mind of Yamaha Marine reliability. There are other pros and cons, but at less than 90K, a value worth exploring.

Whether it’s 6 months from now more or less, when the economy takes a hit, boats are the 1st things to go. I don’t know that I will ever buy new. I was thinking about it when I retire, but not sure now. I’d rather get a high end boat and repower if needed like a contender or something in that class. Sea vee :). You know I bought a 27’ Grady, but I am not a Grady fan. I mean I wasn’t in the market for one, but I saw an opportunity to upgrade. I found the boat with twin 250 Yamahas with about 700 hours and they run flawlessly. 50k cash, no boat payments. I know 50k is a lot of money, but I sold my previous boat for 33k. So a good upgrade for me.

People need to stop overpaying for these boats. I'm in the market for a boat and have a decent salary but can't imagine paying 150k for a 24 foot boat. People are out of their minds if they are paying this much. We will see what happens if interest rates rise. Those payments will double if interest rates go up a few percent.

One of three things that I think will correct this crazy boat market. Engines are in low supply much like new cars and trucks because of the chip shortage and supply chain issues. The market is still doing well and it needs to slow down where people don’t have an inflated net worth. I think if these three things happen, you’ll see prices start to normalize again

Robalo (and all others in the video) are comfortably mid-tier boats. Low end? No way Jose. Sea Fox have been dumped-on historically (hulls older than 2013) but they have moved into the mid-tier as well recently. They are very well designed, well-built and surprisingly-optioned boats - their features and functionality are quite surprising. Sailfish is upper-mid-tier but not high-end. MOST boats today are mid-tier boats and all race to the bottom on quality...its not like there are hundreds of manufacturers making hardware, they all use the same stuff for the most part. There aren't many high-end boats anymore, and the ones that are are offensively expensive. Key West are also mid-tier boats - same hardware as Sea Fox, Robalo, etc., very nice but nothing standout.

Another great video John-at this price point for what these boats are I see a lot of mediocre quality.None of them would get me motivated to pay those prices and I know even the bigger named manufacturers that are more widely respected would be even more. I’ve been looking to buy used for the last 18 months-which may turn into 18 yrs with this insane hyper inflation.I will remain boat-less before I get caught up in this swirl.Things have to be at their breaking point right now.I can’t imagine people who know boats and know what this market is doing will continue buying stuff at these prices. The market needs for buyers to turn their backs to these prices and not play into to this. The Covid Captains who sparked this madness hopefully will have gotten boating out of their systems by now and once the fed starts raising interest rates-sales should begin to drop.May take another year or 2 but it will correct. In fact-this whole economy will probably take a massive beating the way it’s going currently. With all that being said-I’ll rock my kayak this summer-AGAIN and wait it out.I refuse to be that guy who-after the market drops out is stuck with a boat that’s worth 40-50% less than what it was ever worth.I work way too hard for my money to make bad buying decisions….and by the way-there is a Release dealer in East Quogue. They put a few models out on Montauk Hwy on an empty lot when the weather is nice.--thanks again for doing these videos John, the entertainment value is wonderful in the dead of winter for sure.
