For everyone saying the car "understeers a ton" it really doesn't on the street. You can still easily induce oversteer by either throttle oversteering as Yuri did, or by trail braking. It's very easily to set the twins up nearly identically by changing spring rates, sway bar settings, and adding camber. On the track, the BRZ definitely does have terminal understeer through tight corners. That being said it still is a TON of fun and will make you a much better driver. 10/10 would recommend.

@65hi863dhyu2 жыл бұрын
@@R03333 respectfully disagree. There's definitely the better parts and higher rear lateral stiffness in the BRZ. That's why i bought it. The better parts without the carry over rear mounting points, softer bushings and more rear end movement. Why I went to Bilstein B8/Swift Spec R staggered spring set up. - 1 camber all around with a bit of rear toe out to get the rear end around a little easier. Rear lcas. Softer rates up front. Stiffer in the rear. Now even more tail happy and I still get to keep my aluminum knuckles for less unsprung weight, stiffer bushings, stiffer rear mounting points and linear throttle map. The FA20 made over 100hp/liter, so why wouldn't the FA24 a decade later? I thin the main driving force behind the false numbers is stepping on the 2.0t Supra's toes, which makes 255hp.

However, I heard that Toyota has done something to make the car rev happier and in real life where I will not be racing other people, the improved things in the engine will tip the balance. On the other hand, with the price difference, I can cancel the induction sounds in the cabin and install the exhaust with the unequal headers and remember why I bought my 2018 STI, the rewarding driving experience. With unequal headers sound, Subaru might be the right choice, since it was a signature sound on the street with the EJ engines that sound so cool making people decide to buy them just to be able to enjoy that experience. Great video. Would definitely be interested in a head-to-head comparison on track. Since you guys have connections to the manufacturers, any hints of a big brake kit factory option on the GR86? Another factory trim level with better shocks and performance?
@MrShantzy2 жыл бұрын
I would definitely enjoy the goon more on the GR86 as gripping to the raps would also be nice in the BRZ, I just don’t see me getting as much track use to utilize the grip, so for more street and daily commute GR86 for the win with some more fun to kick out the back if I get bored. Thanks for pointing out those differences!

I think the BRZ wins for me due to dealer financing and, according to truecar, it looks like more negotiation room. Also the dark blue isn't available on the GR86. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Subaru should put the STi engine in the BRZ and Toyota should put the GR Corolla engine in the 86. An 86 with a 6-cylinder and a manual would be amazing as a Lexus.

As a resident of Gunma, Japan, where Subaru is based, I really want to drive a Subaru. I feel bad for driving Mazdas (owned 4 Miatas) and BMWs (owned 2) but never owned a Subaru. I really like this car but I need a Vert.

For a second car id go with the Miata, for a one car strategy...86 twins

I have always thought the Toyota Entune infotainment is total garbage. Does the Subaru infotainment which I am unfamiliar with make the BRZ a better choice over the GR86?
@jimiverson30852 жыл бұрын
Subaru has relatively less roll stiffness in the rear, GR86 has more. It's little like the difference between the AP2 and AP1 versions of the S2000. Honda did the same trick to calm down the oversteer.

Trueno blue is the best color IMO for the 86. Light blue, pavement, silver, bRed is no comparison to me. See the Toyota trueno blue in person and you'll know what I mean.

I prefer look of BRZ, so I would get it for 2k less and spend difference on stiffer rear sway bar and exhaust.
@shehandesilva75302 жыл бұрын
Personally I also hate the black wheel fad - so the BRZ wheels look better to me. And maybe I'm old and boring but drifting is not a priority to me - so in that sense the BRZ sounds like a more serious sports car too. $2k cheaper and both those benefits in my book? BRZ is a no brainer!

Owned a 2019 brz sport tech was fun but under powered , got a 22 VN DCT and literally blows it away lol now if Toyota put the GR turbo engine in there 86 I’d be in love

3 pot engine is weak af tho. It's already running like 25 psi boost from factory. Don't get me wrong, it's a good engine, but not for modding if you're into modding or getting higher ceiling out of engines etc. The best for BRZ would be an EJ engine btw. That is why the GT300 BRZ runs an EJ. EJ platform, like it or not, has insane development behind it. The FA engine doesn't, and never will with EV around the corner.
