Symmetrical awd means the drivetrain is symmetric due to the longitudinal mounted engine and the equal length axle shafts. It's not like other awd systems from other companies because it's a full time awd and not on demand awd. Not sure what the split is but I think it's 50/50 all the time. Much more advanced. The STi is even better with a torque varying center differential

Manual split is 50/50. SPT CVT is 60/40 60 to the rear

I ordered a WRX GT yesterday. I get it, the manuals are more fun, the horsepower hasn’t changed much, and the interior is very Subaru. However, that’s exactly what I want out of this car. I’m almost 50 with a bad left leg and my wife can’t drive a stick, so the CVT is the only option for us. We’re both lifelong Subaru fans and a “sporty” car with features close enough to my wife’s Impreza to minimize the learning curve for her is incredibly important. That being said, a “sporty” car that has more punch than her Impreza is important to me. I went with the GT because of the ride dampers, a feature I wish Subaru offered on all the trim levels, because a stiff ride is painful after a few miles. My old STi was an amazing rocket ship I used to carve the canyons and mountain passes with, and I’ll forever remember and love that car. So, I get it my young, fellow “hooners”, I used to be you…the new WRX is “boring”, soft, and not quite what we’d all like to see…but to Subarus credit, they keep producing reliable vehicles that are accessible to ALL their fan base, even the older disabled ones. Thank you, Subaru!

I agree with all of your points. I’m 30 now. My manual days are in the past. I too ordered a GT in world rally blue. It landed the ports of Vancouver a few days ago. Should be here in Nebraska by late June early July 🤙🏽

Why did he say CVT is not preferred? I find it real good
@CristianMendoza12 жыл бұрын
The CVT option is good, its just people tend to like non-CVT model versions of engines. I've driven CVT's where it felt they were made to not rev high so quickly to focus on mpg over performance. I didn't mean to make the CVT sound like a bad option though.

Wait a minute, new engine 2.4L turbocharged yet they ONLY managed to crank out 3 more HP than previous models? WTF?? Wow 268 to 271 HP with new engine block. The STI has a 2.5L engine that pushes out 310 Horsepower to serve as an example. RIP WRX, for the price your asking and the lack of features that come standard in similar performance model cars from different brands, you are asking WAY too much. This car is not worth the MSRP. Without any competition from Evo lancer, the WRX has been going downhill and this is the final nail in the coffin. Sad to see such a legendary car fall to this deep.

You do realize, this 2022 WRX is only a few 10ths of a second slower than the last gen STi from 2015 right?
@DylanVBWRX2 жыл бұрын
I believe it's underrated it puts down 250whp if you account for awd drivetrain loss that would put it around 300 t the crank
@TheLastS2092 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The wrx is no longer a great car, it is now similar to the Toyota Corolla and the Honda civic, no longer in it's world rally roots

@@TheLastS209 I disagree, I think the .5 inch higher ride height and the protective cladding makes it more like a real rally car
