They’ve been getting the DD5 and Mobileye since they came out here. No LED headlights though which I don’t know why… But that’s all that we have been getting, C2s. Not complaining because they are great, I prefer them over IC. We only get Bluebird Visions as handy buses now. I like the video, I noticed that the first 22 has a new crossing arm as well.

Wow the LED bus has the strobing eight ways on it. I have never seen a bus with the strobing eight ways. The LED bus looks very rare.

I had an older style Thomas with air brakes. I'm getting ready to go into a new Thomas, but not sure yet if it has the tank drain, which I am not familiar with. Can you explain how to do the tank drain when doing air brake check/test? I'm used to just getting in , starting the bus, letting it come up to normal pressure, and then turning bus off, then to on (not running), stepping on brake at the same time pushing parking brake knob in and waiting to see if there is 3psi air loss, then pumping down the brakes until indicator light comes on, then until parking brake knob pops out. Then throwing it in high idle. Can you please do a video and explain how to do the tank drain in full please?

How do you tell the different years from the outside of the bus??

So there are very minimal changes usually. The most recent was with the 2020 C2s when they changed the marker lights and side turn signals to very small circles almost like Bluebird buses. I personally didn’t like that. Also the newer ones that have Detroit engines have the badges on the side of the hood. Other than that there are usually very few changes.

My school is getting new busses after fall break they are 2021 and 22 most of our busses are very old so this will be a nice upgrade

Questions, are there any school buses available with a manual transmission? Is it an optional feature?

I believe it is an optional feature. I have not seen a C2 yet with manual, but I have heard that you can get them like that. Then the 8-way light controls and door control move to the center console by the parking brake to make it easier to access when shifting.

I can see if we have any. Most of ours do not have seatbelts other than buses used for special needs bus runs.

@@CMLayton88 Huh, the buses I ride on in the Wichita Falls Independent School District have seatbelts, Most of them are 2014 Saf-T-Liner C2's like these ones. I see why your buses don't have seatbelts. Nobody wears them...

I sont get it. Why they dont install seatbelts?

So some buses to get seatbelts installed as options, however, it has been proven in research that in case of an emergency, such as a bus being on fire, seatbelts could potentially cause more injuries or death. You have one driver with potentially 70+ kids buckled in. Some times seatbelts lock up and not all kids could get them selves unbuckled in time and escape before fire could spread and the driver might not be able to cut all necessary seatbelts in time. I do think seatbelts are a great safety item, however, the seats in modern buses have been designed to act kind of like an egg carton in a way. They’re staggered to prevent falling into the aisle or hitting others in an emergency, and the seats are higher now to also protect from injuries in a forward collision. I believe there are some videos out there that show the seatbelt situation and how the seats are protective. Pretty neat overall.

No override in our PA buses. It’s not required.

Some states require it, but Pennsylvania does not. We do have a few buses that we have gotten from other areas that have Master Switches and Red overrides, but most do not.

@@CMLayton88 ok, I drive 2007 c2 and it stinks. No cup holders, transmission skips horribly and no pick up on the hwy. Instead of the three way door switch we have a three way switch that has Amber's on bottom and reds on top, and off in the middle, then a one way door switch. 319,000 miles on it.
