The Fuel is amazing, during the warmer months I have received on average 42-44 MPGS. Some insights: It is FAST in Sport mode. It pulls like my wife’s Lexus. But the game for me is Eco mode and make it stay electric only as much as possible. 25-35 mph zones is the best. I can lock in the cruise up to about 35-37mph and it will stay electric only. If the engine kicks on, I drop one mph and it kicks back to electric. No matter what you do, when it first starts, it’s gonna run the motor to warm it up. I like to put it in sport mode and jet around a bit before it’s warm and then play the EV game. Best car ever.

PHEV's price premium over regular hybrid is so large and the gas savings benefits so little that it would take at least 8 years to catch up by which time the warranty may have already expired and plug-in battery significantly degrade....and the savings take a nose dive due to more complex repair and maintenance
@johndoe-fy6jz3 жыл бұрын
@@charleshsu7160 Please inform yourself better. The tax credit the prime gets knocks it down to RAV4 Hybrid price quite easily. It's also much the exact same componentry involved, the biggest changes are a larger, Li-Ion only battery and a larger electric motor in the eCVT compared to hybrid. Another point you're missing is prime has a heat pump which hybrid doesn't. 42 miles of pure EV at up to 80 MPH is also nothing to sneeze at. That erases the fuel cost of commute for a huge amount of working people. Add in if their workplace has EV charging on-site? They may never even use the gas engine for months at a time.
@charleshsu71603 жыл бұрын
@@johndoe-fy6jz . Can you imagine having a gas tank that holds only 42 miles of gas and going to gas pump every 42 miles to fill it up? NO. It would be a nightmare. Then why would you think people would regularly charge their PHEV when 42 miles electric range is exhausted? Charging Prime is not as simple as charging iPhone. Prime's EV charging mechanisms, charge port, lid, pump lock, handle, are designed to be like charging gas than iphone. The PHEV tax credits are very bad as they encourage people to take advantage of the credits while having no enforcement that people regularly charging battery, and thus many PHEV owners could arguably drive their Prime as gas-only hybrids and rarely get EV plug-ins savings that tax credits are intended for

I know this is a two year old video, but after taking a '22 XLE Hybrid for a spin recently, here are my thoughts: 1). The seats. What is it with Toyota and seats that they think people like to feel like they're sitting on top of the car rather than in? The seats themselves are nice to look at, especially in Cockpit Red, but there's very little substance. The bolstering is weak at best, and the bottoms feel flat after 10-15 mins. Of all the things people have complained about, from this generation's styling, to the infotainment placement and operation, I'm surprised more people didn't mention how gutless the seats actually are. 2). What's not gutless is the powertrain. Quick stab on the go pedal while moving and acceleration was brisk and smooth. It will never be confused for a performance sedan, but this is proof that hybrids are no longer super slow and you don't have to be penalized for squeezing every mile out of that gallon of gasoline. CVT's do keep the engines they're attached to at a constant RPM, but it wasn't a horrible experience. In fact, some electric motor whine can be heard, so mixed with the ICE, it was actually rather pleasing. One thing though; if this same hybrid system is in the Avalon and ES, why do those systems have 215hp, but the Camry gets 208? 3). Toyota has the XLE's suspension sorted. Well-mannered ride characteristics for a "blue collar" sedan that didn't crash, bang, shudder, or otherwise flop over bumps or twisting terrain. I'd say the line between Toyota and their upmarket brand Lexus is blurred here. 4). Steering input is light without feeling completely artificial, though there is little, if any, actual steering feel. The entire car feels on the chuckable side and this wasn't even the XSE or TRD. Given that there is an XSE trim, why didn't Toyota give the Camry a steering wheel with perforated leather like the Avalon XSE? 5). People have gone on record multiple times about the brakes on a hybrid. The artificial feeling due to the way a hybrid system is setup. Here in the Camry, the pedal felt "normal". A lazy word to use I'll admit, but, perhaps this is due to me not having a wealth of hybrid driving experience through the years, I didn't notice too much of a difference between my current car and the XLE's. Response was prompt and the throw never felt long or labored.

Am awesome informative video as always! I love my 2019 Camry XSE 4 cylinder! I have the “entune audio plus” system in mine. Just no complaints with mine! I have looked at a couple XSE Hybrid Camrys and think they would be equally awesome to own! I am surprised with the new hybrid XSE Camry that it only has single (dual tip” exhaust! Mine has the quad tip exhaust system. I remember your test drive of the Avalon XSE hybrid. Another awesome car! The sound is great through my headphones on my I Phone 11! Have a great weekend! I appreciate your channel! Mark in Iowa.

as a 6'1" individual, I would appreciate actual headroom gap estimates since my hair/head literally scrape the roof of most compact cars. I would have bought a Scion TC back in the day, but the original version had such a shallow roof that I literally couldn't sit in it.

This Camry shows speed and speed limit and other things on your front window , but Lexus ES 350 2022 does not. This Camry has front and back and side (360 birds eye view) and Lexus only back up camera (not that great). Something to think about if that’s important to you.

I know it's kind of an old video now but how come in pretty much all the test drives I see on KZbin the estimated range is so low compared even with Rav4 hybrid? In Camry the trip computer shows around 370mi/600km even with the lowest mpg. I thought it should be around 500mi/800km or so. Is the gas tank that small or the trip computer is in error?

I could get around 65 - 67 mpg in a 17 Prius 2 and 63 - 65 mpg in a 20 Corolla Hybrid. How are people doing in the most recent Camry SE and XSE Hybrids? In current models it's all about the performance of the battery as some don't work as hard as others. Thanks.

Wow..Thank you so much for this video have been waiting so long ❤️ btw which would you prefer Hyundai Sonata hybrid limited or Toyota XSE hybrid ???? Only thing backing me from buying Toyota Camry is it has CVT and The Infotainment and the camera look really bad where as the Hyundai Sonatas infotainment looks awesome and has better cameras and sad thing the Toyota XSE hybrid is not yet available in my country 🤷♂️😕
@johndoe-fy6jz3 жыл бұрын
The eCVT in Toyota hybrids is essentially bullet proof. A traditional transmission moves gears around to engage different ratios. The eCVT doesn't. It's ALL planetary gears, no push-belt like traditional CVT.

We have a 2012 Camry Hybrid and it drives amazing as well.. after getting rid of our 2017 Camry LE, I couldn’t believe how much better the 2012 hybrid one drove.. seems to have lots more power and drives so much better which I find strange since it’s an older car. Oh and we got lucky.. it only had 28k miles on it! Especially needed now since gas prices are high.

How would this car handle upstate NY snow with all season tires? I’m wondering if lack of AWD is a deal breaker because I like everything else about this Camry over the hybrid Corolla.
@user-sp2yu9zt6h Жыл бұрын
I live in chicago and during the winter it handles well, its obviously lower then a suv so you will have to watch out for steep snow on intersections. (Ive had to dig my car out once) Even in snow storms I feel safe driving this car.
