I unironically love Camrys. Both my parents drove Camrys while growing up, my first car was a hand-me-down Camry that racked up 280 thousand miles over its life. The first car I got myself was a Mustang, and after endless repairs and plowing through fuel (and honestly I realized that I'm a car person in theory but don't actually want something designed for performance as a daily driver) I went back to a Camry. It's got great fuel efficiency, it's comfortable, it's familiar, and it's reliable as fuck. I may have other cars in the future, but my primary will always be a Camry.

The mid-size sedan market has been shrinking steadily for 2 decades now. It's basically this and the Accord. The rest fight over scraps. The Camry has been the King in this class for a long time (in terms of volume of sales) and these changes should ensure it remains that way. It's not a sports car, it's not a muscle car, so as long as you don't go in expecting an M3 on a budget, you'll be fine. If you want a regular family sedan that will be the most reliable vehicle on the planet and actually be worth something when you sell it in 10 years, you can't lose. The Camry is likely THE pick in the class.

I had the V6 for a decade and I’ve had a hybrid for 4 years. Besides missing the occasional full throttle activation on the V6 (which only really felt quick from a rolling start due to limited low down torque) I’ve really not missed the V6 at all. Interestingly the hybrid acceleration from 60mph shows plenty of go at full throttle which I found recently when I took it into the outback and had to pass the double trailer trucks we get out here. It’s a comfortable daily with a pleasant shape to the eye. I have no regrets about picking one for family hauling duties.

I work for a rental car company and when we got these things in i was pretty skeptical. I never hated or loved the previous gen camrys i only ever had a neutral opinion on them: they drive you around reliably (all you can ask for especially for a rental car lmao). But the new gen camrys are some of my favorite cars we have. They have a very decent power to weight ratio and drive really really well in comparison to other vehicles the company i work for buys and its priced very accurately. Dont get me wrong, its not a perfect car, but it delivers on everything you could expect from a regular daily driver sedan (plus its hybrid so you save on gas!). I have the same opinion for the new hyundai sonatas as well.

Thanks for not botching the external design Toyota--and for maintaining that handsome and sporty look Camry has had since the previous gen--especially when comparing to something like the competing accord which got badly clobbered with the ugly stick. I just wish the newer Camry had more performance. The names Camry and Cressida are synonymous with V6 in places like the middle east. It's their defining feature. And something that looks this sporty should also excite with its performance. Last year's Camry TRD with the V6 is looking like the much more desirable and smarter option.

Its a Camry, but somehow it isnt boring. This one is a much better handling and overall driving car. Less body roll, yet more complaint over harsh bumps and pot holes. The brakes and pedal feel are also much better. It's one weakness is the acceleration, but even that is only a few tenths slower to 60mph than the 300hp V6. The gains made by the suspension, interior, NVH, milage, and brakes make this a better car by far. It handles good, better than the tires it was given, and better than someone like me, an auto enthusiast, wants to admit. It's a great package and more than the sum of its parts.

Toyota and their hybrid eCVT system absolutely own the boring sedan and small suv segments. If that's what you're looking for its really hard to justify any other choice. Best in class fuel economy, value, and reliability. Above average tech, safety, practicality, and (arguably) styling. There are just no downsides if performance and excitement are not requirements.
