Stop calling it a live axle, this is a misused term. The axle is encased in a rigid housing which does move with the supension. The term live axle is used with independent supension and articulates with supension movement. Live axles are exposed to the elements and with the rubber boots are prone to damage in rough offroad condition. Damaged rubber can allow water intrusion into the drivetrain, this is a bad idea. The fact that the 70 series is not designed like a race buggy is what make it a reliable and durable vehicle. The purpose of the 70 series is to get you and the vehicle there and back in good condition. The vehicle is good but not perfect, matching the rear wheel track with front and replacing the rear leaf springs for coils would make it complete.
