I just purchased a new tundra offroad. I love it with some compliments the screen is difficult but works well once it's paired to the phone. The sensors are a little to cautious, and the no rear step is annoying. I love the Tacoma also, I just needed the extra room for the kids so Tundra took my money. Both are excellent vehicles.

I agree. The hill top is a great demonstration of break over angle, and the sharp corner is a way to show the difference between a good turning circle and a 5 point turn. It demonstrates how too long can be much worse then too wide.

To all those calling the gen 3 tacoma a slog or the engine has no power lol. For my 17 trd orsb I can tell first hand and their are easy and not to expensive fix or mods or what ever you choose to call them. Absolutely nothing wrong with the engine and or transmission, but it's the tune with them that's the issue I went with kd maxx pro tune problem solved in low end torque issues, and you actually improve mpg. Funny why toyota themselves didn't do it right the first time lol, but atleast someone else did. Another issue people complain about the seating position again another quick fix I went with some seat jackers now for me at 5'9" or 5'10" height seems to help me to feel more support with my legs especially while driving long distances. Some complain the interior is so out dated I don't think so with mine, but than again mine did come with both the upgraded tech, and tow package plus some other upgrades the previous owner had purchase for it. I bought it when it was almost 2yrs old and 13 000 miles on it I can only wonder why the previous owner got rid of it,but probably because of the two issues I both seen and felt my self. I still remember first driving it to AZ for the first time and flooring it going up hills the dang thing didn't want to go pass 50 mph. But after I took it into the dealership and they updated the firmware for the tune it fixed it kinda of but I can tell it still was lacking a bit and not allowing itself to perform at its peak performance. So of course I did what most I'm sure did and deactivated both my trac. Stability control completely by holding it down for a few longer sec. And activating my famous ect button. And yes the truck would performed much better but also at the expense of using more fuel of course. But with that new tune I don't even have to deactivate anything, and if I do use my ect at times it really makes a huge difference. Hope this info helps some of you guys out.

If you’re going to use an off road course you need to accept scrapes and scratches. If you make it so easy that nothing fails, what are you testing? Understand the constraints but the courses need to be something that a sedan with some ground clearance and good tyres can’t complete. Maybe try a few junkers just to make sure the course actually tests off roaders. Also, have you considered a faster section with a jump or two for the baja vehicles? Otherwise, love the videos.

Let's make no mistake, the best off road Toyota is a Land Cruiser, which would include the 4Runner (essentially a Prado). Then it's a toss up between the Taco and the Tundra. Bottom line double cab trucks the wheel base is just way to long unless you're lifting significantly.

@erod6468
@erod6468 Жыл бұрын
@@perchowski3021 those are much larger diesel engines that do not require spark plugs to create explosions like a gasoline powered engine(they strickly use high compression to superheat diesel fuel and create the ignition in conjunction with glow plugs on some engines for initial and cold starts), thereby reducing wear on much stouter piston rings and cylinder walls. They actually benefit from a compressor(turbos in this case) much more than a vehicle when it comes to longevity and reliability. Good to see the course evolve and how a test like this will drive that evolution. Dumb down the hill for pickup break over or keep it higher for small wheelbase Jeep and Bronco. This is editing vs timeline dilemma. This next weekend they will show another episode of Taming Tumbleweed where the course is still being built. But yet, we have already seen it completed in more than a few videos. They are excellent about pumping out content, just not in order in which one might expect for continuity.

I don't think changing the hills crest is warranted. IF you are going to redesign natural terrain to that degree, you are no better than the manufacturers that send press launches out and just breeze through w/out a challenge because they made the course easy for their vehicle(s). I get having to create a lot of what you have to challenge things, and that is great. But the hill is a real obstacle that people will/could encounter in the real world. Thus, it sets a bar for break over angle testing. But by now, you have already done something about it I am sure and my opinion is weeks too late. lol

@@Eastsidegeorgiaboy ummm sure isn't. You don't know your Toyotas then. First off, the 4runner is made in Japan, quality is night and day from the Tacoma. (I know this comming from three Tacomas) 2nd, the Tacoma has a 3.5L engine that gear hunts, oppose the 4runner that has a 4.0 that does not gear hunt. (Rides a lot smoother) quality control inside is night and day difference. My 4runner has a kdss system which the Tacoma does not. I could go on and on here. Long story short, the 4runner is not a Tacoma, the quality made 4runner in Japan is a superior build to the Tacoma. This is not just opinion, this is facts.

apart from the name on the body and the cosmetic grill change it is the same unibody underneath which is a hilux TRD isn't a way of lift is statement for toyota racing division.. noting off road isn't offroad .. the offroad by definition that is sold in the marketing in toyota for hilux Base brand work vehicle tacoma in 1 market in the other tundra in another. Meaning work site use. you made the 1st mistake to take both off road without suspension lift tire and rims suitable for off road use.. like most idiots do when they get a new toy to play with... see what happens until you break it or in this case beach it on clearance issue.. and you don't use on road tires off road
@mikefoehr235

My Tundra came with Michelin P series tires. Now, for on road comfort and fuel economy, those tires are AOK but in the winter the Duratracs on steel rims are tremendous in snow and real good in mud as well. Duratracs are a bit more noisy and slightly worse on fuel but still better than being in the ditch or in a collision. I think most auto makers supply adequate tires but they are not for hard-core off road use.

@@jacobforeman9916 then what they do is a fallacy because anyone with a brain puts another 20-150k into the vehicle before taking it to purpose test track to represent an example anyone with a half of brain wouldn't do... if you want it to comply offroad use that isn't a building site for over priced discount homes. then you take it to a fit out center to make it compliant for your intended needs Man i would love to see tfl, Ronny Dahl and ASPW go for a bog lap around australia in proper kitted vehicles, then do it the same way the TFL Guys do it and see how far it gets before the vehicle has to be towed out because it got broke down... whilst i like this as infotainment value, i think to the uninitiated new to this scene is going to set bad advice.. with mentality of monkey see and monkey do and monkey do dumb shit and you copy monkey and do the same shit an wipe off your vehicle because you copied someone else's dumb moves and then ask why something fails to late to fix it later with a bandaid fix.. off road and offroad in a marketing term as demonstrated in tv ads as a trademan vehicle running across the worksite type offroad (fictional account offroad) aka bog standard use Vs Reality of every condition you can have access to on unmaintained roads in the interior of the country...
