Nice review. I own the GT Pro and love it. I had it’s predecessor for 3 years - a great bike with a smoother triple engine,but it was a beast. The new GT Pro is much lighter and more fun on the twisties. The T-plane engine certainly adds character and I’ve not noticed any bothersome vibrations on the long road. I personally think choosing between the 900 and the 1200 depends on what you’re into. If you do a lot of touring with luggage, the 1200 is the way to go with its gruntier engine and of course, no chain to service is an added bonus.

I think part of the excellent braking is that the brakes are linked, so if you only use the front lever, it applies front AND rear brakes at the same time. It's an incredible bike, I've test ridden it twice. Hoping to purchase next season. It has bags of power. In my opinion the best all rounder currently available.

I just purchased an ex demo today over here in the U.K. same as you’re testing right down to the colour - but squeezed the deal out to include upper and lower crash bars, and a heated seat. Far cheaper than buying brand new, the bike has covered less than a 1000 miles, in perfect condition unmarked, massive saving. Your perception of “traffic” was quite funny, South East England is packed out, there are no quiet roads - NZ looks very similar to here (countryside), must be an amazing place outside of the urban centres you’re so lucky👍 Great review subscribed

Interesting video. I was very close to buying a 900 Rally Pro (which I guess is the model you keep referencing) but the dealer had a demo 1200 GT Pro with 1‘100km on the clock for a price lower than a brand new 900 Rally Pro. It was a no brainer which one to take. The current 1200 model does have heated seats as standard, and does not have vents that blow hot air on your thighs the way the 900 does. It also feels less top heavy than the 900 Rally Pro in the corners. I pick the bike up o Friday but don‘t think I‘ll be disappointed with the decision to go with the bigger bike.

The GT Pro is mostly for the road. The Rally Pro is designed more for the dirt. It's not a upgrade, rather for a different purpose.

Totally get that. Although I reckon with some tyres the GT pro would go off road pretty well

@@captain_midlife I am wondering the same thing. I do mostly tar so like the 19 inch front but would like to do dirt from time to time. Seems the rally would be overkill for me

I'm about your height and found the rally version too high if you have to cope with stop start traffic. Gets tiring very quickly truing to get your feet planted on the ground...especially with a passenger.

Ignoring price the 1200 is a no-brainer over the 900. 50% more power with 10% more weight.

Recently did a 100+ mile test ride on one... Loved it, except for two things... As that is the GT on road version, I wish it had better rim sizes for proper sport touring or even sport bike rubber in more common sizes. That's a big bike for a skinny 150 width rear. But maybe a 160 can be shoe-horned on there. And the motor is fairly heavily restricted in the ride by wire tables, but that's an easy 15 minute fix to unlock that power with TuneECU and an Android device...
