Thank you for being honest on this bike. You are a perfect example of a journalist that is not biased just because you are opted out to ride their bike. I own an R7 and previously owned an R3... This bike is well beyond what an R3 is. Its far more aggressive and capable than an R3... Its power band is incredible on the road... and if you watch the torque figures for both the R7 and R6.. the R7 technically makes more torque in all the lower power band RPM ranges.. and the R6 doesnt reach that lower torque figure til 10,000RPM... what you get with the R6 is better suspension, more horsepower and more aggresive ergonomics for the purpose of racing.. the R6 is a race bike... period... IF you want something better than an R3 and dont need a liter bike or a 4 cylinder, the R7 is the best option on the market unless you want an Aprilia RS660...

For people who thinks R7 - you are dumb... 100% garantee maybe 1 or 2 people in comments can actually ride R6 at full potential on track and I'm not even begin to mention streetwise of R6... R6 is great track bike IF YOU know what you are doing... R7 is MT-07 platform with plastic... which is great for beginner rider and transitioning to more intermediate rider. R6 in real world 0-60 mph is barely 4 sec +-0.1 sec. Mt-07 is 3.5 and below with change of gearing for R7 it's going to be faster. I'm more about acceleration. On street Kawasaki ninja 650 is faster 0-60mph than R6 and 40 mph to 80 mph is faster than R6. Get your facts straight about what is fast. Yes if you go WAY past 90-100mph is where R6 shines but you can do it so much ONLY till you get criminal speeding ticket or crash... R6 more 90% owners do not ride to full potential. Other 10% are experience riders... who take R6 ONLY on track... R6 slow bike for streets but amazing bike for track. Good street bike if you are retarded and doing over 100-110 mph and over on high way and very consistent...

He said the same thing about this R7 as I have been saying at work. If you are a truly experienced rider, that can get almost the most out of the R6 or R1, go for those. A vast majority I think wouldn't be able to get the most out of this R7. I personally love riding the R6 and R1 on a track, but I prefer to be on the R3 because that really shows how well you corner, as it doesn't have the power to just make up for a lack of cornering ability.

So glad Yamaha made this bike. I found the R6s lacked the power on track to be much fun, and were not particularly good street bikes either due to their high RPM bias. The R1 is great on track, but miserable on the street. The R1M is a little better on the street due to its ability to soften up suspension damping more than on the R1, but it is still far from well suited to street riding. I find the new R7 a terrific street bike due to its lower RPM bias, compliant suspension, and reasonably comfortable ergonomics. I like that it requires a higher level of rider engagement that the R1s. The R1s are so fast and capable that I find them boring on the street short of riding at a reckless pace. Love how slim the R7 is too. My solution is a R7 for the street and R1 for the track.

Great info on the S22, I was thinking of the tire for over months now. So the S22 on a "soft" suspension setup will give out earlier as you mentioned but with a "stiffer" suspension, you believe the S22 will give you more performance. Have I interpreted that correctly? About the bike...I am torned between the R7 and the Trident and the big deal-maker/breaker is the suspension. But from your summary, since I am looking for a sportsike ergo but for the street, you gave the R7 a 1 point lead for me. Now I have to dig up any videos you did with the Trident 660 and maybe consider giving it clip-ons and make it a "naked" trackbike with a very long seat. I don't know man... Once again, your reviews are gold and your rate of speech is just spot-on, I don't even think that's even an issue anymore. Maybe the haters bailed last time. More power man, just keep on rolling. Respect from Manila, PH.
@patrickwassall1163 жыл бұрын
If suspension is the paramount decision making aspect, buy whichever fits you better because you're going to need to spend money to get them sprung and damped for your rider weight regardless. No factory suspension is as good as spending about a grand on getting any bike dialed in for a specific rider. Worry less about that, someone like Traxxion Dynamics can get you fixed up. Edit: and if you want supersport ergos, I wouldn't even consider the Trident. I would cross-shop this with a Panigale V2, for example. Very comfy and similar power / weight specs, with a similarly 'soft' road-tuned engine.
@ManCannotRide3 жыл бұрын
@@patrickwassall116 Thanks for these nice info man. One of my dream bikes is the Panigale V2 but it's just simply way beyong what my resources can reach. I am in Manila PH and there's only very few suspension upgrades and performance shops available here but you are right. I have been learning suspension setup with Dave Moss online and we really need to spend a bit more for dialing the suspension to our needs. Thanks again for the insights. Ride safely and more power.
@KimmyR33 жыл бұрын
first paragraph - it can't be summarized simply as "the S22 likes stiffer suspension". There's more to it than that. Honestly I'd skip the R7 and look at other bikes (e.g. Ninja 400) if you just wanted supersport ergonomics. It's more than enough for day-to-day, can use the expressways (if you're in luzon), not hot compared to 600/1000 cc, light, short rider friendly, cheap to maintain, cheap accessories, and cheap on gas. This bike will probably be around 550k-630k when it lands here. At that price you might as well just get the ZX-6R (a "true" supersport), save a few more to an R6, or look at other bikes. It's not really as cheap as most reviews say. The upgrades Adam Waheed mention towards the end of the vid would easily put this within or above 4th gen R6 prices. Ohlins suspension cartridges + rear shock + tuning would easily be ~$2.5k..
@ManCannotRide3 жыл бұрын
@@KimmyR3 Hey man, thanks. Yeah that thing with the Ninjas. I am a Kawi fanboy I guess but I also admire the CP2 engine of Yamaha. I already have the 400NK though. I am planning to get a sports bike next. The ZX6R was my prime choice but it's going away soon, the 600s with inline 4s are I guess fading out, according to news I've heard but I can be wrong, and I really don't see myself tinkering with 4 cylinders. According to an article last May, Yamaha might price the R7 below 500K (daw). Thanks again man.
@KimmyR33 жыл бұрын
@@ManCannotRide I wouldn't get my hopes up with the pricing. US pricing don't include taxes, so that $9k MSRP in the US is surely not $9k when it gets here. As an example, an R6 is about $12k in the US, while here it's ~$15k (P750k). but if it does make it below~500k, that's gonna be hard to look away from. :)

I like your content but I need to use 1,5x playback speed in order to not fall asleep. also at 1,5x speed its noticeable how little rythm and change in timing there is in your speech. Its almost robotic. you should really consider adding some more of your emotion and exitement to your reviews.

Do you ride? Bc riding on track and talking at the same time isnt sth easy.

@@freedomchriss4974 I do. He is the only MC reviewer I watch who speaks like this. Besides he speaks slowly when not riding.

@@freedomchriss4974 I don't blame him when he's riding, but even in the intro he talks super slow.
