As soon as I saw Isshin, my inner Timmy immediately wanted to build him but I didn't know where to take him. I decided on tokens with cards like Krenko Mob Boss and Grave Titan creating double the amount of tokens on attack, and cards like Calculating Lich and Comissar Severina Raine doubling drain triggers. It's become one of my favorite decks already. And I've only had ot a couple months.

I'm glad you guys mentioned backgrounds as being a good thing because I think it fixes what I don't like about Partner. I also like that it gave us Lulu, Loyal Hollyphant and Cultist of the Absolute because I've been trying to figure out how to make a combat oriented deck with Lulu and Cultist since I saw those cards and the pun Chuthu-Lulu popped into my head.

Sivriss from Baldur's gate is one of my favorite commanders ever since I've tried it out. I'm still building decks with legends from Baldur's Gate. That set was amazing for sure.

My favorite card of the year was Wand of Orcus, because on Arena nobody ever reads the card and they're like "yeah yeah deathtouch a zombie token something", and then I equip it and swing in, and my opponent goes all *surprised Pikachu* and reads the card like 5 times due to my brand new beautiful eight 2/2 zombies.

Sicarian Inflitrator is a great card anywhere I've tried it! It's just stupidly flexible. Like a mulldrifter but with a lot of different opportunities to use the synergies beyond reanimator/blink strats. It's one of the cards I'm most consistently happy to see in my hand when I'm playing Esix because it fills so many roles!

I genuinely don't get the complaints about this. Why does more commander product hurt you? Is the game hindered if you're not aware of every single card in existence the second it releases?

@@robotov2334 It slows the game down when OG players have to read every other card. We usually/ used to play fast. Hence my comment, that we meet to read new cards and not really play MTG or at least play less MTG and read more new cards which isn't as fun imo. Its not helpful that the new cards are OP'd, if they were spamming bad cards you wouldn't see them and they wouldn't disrupt as much. My playgroup is working on a pre 2019 format, mostly to avoid the power creep but will also nicely solves card overload I hope.

I think that's a lie I've never seen an unsleeved edh deck in the 10+ years I've been playing. They did when I was a kid back during Odyssey, but it's rarer now. I doubt most players even know how to bridge shuffle.

Empyrial armor and Empyrial plate are my secret techs for my Wyleth deck. These cards are old school. Remember playing these two in a deck that revolved around the card "Cataclysm". Suit up a Savanna Lion and beat!

For me personally as a Magic player who plays Arena casually, Commander with a specific playgroup quite heavily and sometimes drafts a little, Kamigawa Neon Dynasty and The Brothers' War absolutely saved the year with their great takes and sometimes unique spins on familiar design space. Shorikai and Urza, Prince of Kroog really opened up a new avenue for Azorius Commander players who previously usually were playing mostly control, blink or spirits decks.

I cannot emphasize my love for Lethal Scheme enough in aggro black decks. 1) You don't really want to hold up mana for removal, but since you are playing creatures anyway (most likely without haste), you can make the spell free (with creature tokens too!) while holding up blockers 2) the best removal is one or two mana, and when you do cast it for two, you destroy a creature and loot twice AND boost your creatures, making it a removal spell with card draw and a surprise combat trick 3) you are playing black, so discarding = reanimation just, no downsides at all, severely underrated

Loran of the Third Path is a bomb and you absolutely should be using the tap ability. The fact that you can use the ability at instant speed immediately makes it good, as you get the card when you want it and they don't get to use it unless it is an instant spell until their next turn. On top of that, it's a great diplomacy tool. You can win an ally or get another player to potentially draw and answer. Even when you are the arch enemy at the table, this effect is solid. You draw a card and the opponent with the worst card quality or who doesn't have interaction gets a card. Having a removal ETB and a key word makes this card pushed.

I have a fairly positive opinion on all sets, since they've all given me something I enjoy. Even Unfinity to an extent, which while I don't care for a lot of that set's mechanics I did build a deck with one of the technically not-legal partners, which I'm very excited about.

Empyrial Plate works great in decks that want to consistently play necropotence as well. I run it in my K'rrik deck and it has made some VERY large swings that pay for the necropotence life loss.

For the warhammer decks, I hope we get reprints as magic version's as soon as possible. There are so cool effects like out of the tombs, is just super cool 😍 or this dimir copy, that also kills it's counter part. .... But I don't get along with the frame and gunny art putting it in other decks, what's tooo said. 😣

That's not a hot take at all. In fact, I NEVER heard anyone say Bootlegger's Stash is overpowered, instead ONLY hearing the fact that it should have been red! Also, Old Gnawbone would be a mistake even if it were red, like it should be.

Most interesting card from Capenna is Public Enemy. It's an uncommon noone knows, and when it drops it definitely changes everyone's game plan. It either destroys a player or someone has to waste removal on it. Replaces itself too. Unreal card

Overall some great designs here and there in 2022 without too many OP commanders. However, product fatigue is getting super high, especially in a tough financial year... They need to slow this down really quickly. Can't keep up knowledge-wise or money-wise either...

People get annoyed with ward being tacked on everything but if I'm spending 6 mana on a commander that needs to stick around to do stuff, I want protection! IMO, hexproof is overpowered so this is a good middle ground.

Honestly the product overload is kinda sick because not being able to keep up with cards--and that discovery element--reminds me of the early days of EDH when everyone finds cool new cards and even experienced players go ???what's that??? It's good notalgia. It's fun. I like not knowing every card. I like that good and/or fun cards get lost in the mix only to be discovered years later across the table.

For Streets of New Capenna, I'm surprised Syrix Carrier of the Flame wasn't mentioned. I'll admit he's not amazing, but I was just SOO glad to get a phoenix as a commander. It was definitely a highlight of an otherwise exhausting set that was New Capenna, at least for me. Other than that, I agree with your sentiment towards it. Neon Dynasty was a bigger surprise than I originally expected. I liked the idea of the set going in, but I underestimated their ability to make something that was very much not MTG, feel exactly like MTG. Loved the Warhammer decks, got all 4 and intend to keep them that way, at least for now. I hope the next product like it (I think it's going to be Lord of the Rings) is just as good if not better.

Baldurs gate cards it self wast the issue it was the price and the pull rate of the set that was the issue, some of us like to pull the cards instead of buying them, and when almost every good cad was playing hide n seek in packs it killed the fun in cracking packs.................... I've never understood the fear of allowing you opponents being able to play their cards. You might as well not play an opponent at all. Tio me it's the fun of what the game is and can be that is the interesting part. Simply doing mathematical points of damages to a defenseless opponent just seems Un honorable. Sure, a certain amount of removal is understandable. Removal is part of the game. It's just the blind reactive tendency to destroy everything an opponent has ion play that eludes me. I have all the styles of deck types there are. (I started in 1993). I even occasionally play my few heavy destruction/agro decks when players have nothing else to play and i match their heavy destruction decks for an even game. I do this for their fun as much as my own. I play jank because of the fum and the challenge. I'll add that in Arena online for example it's gratifying to laugh at the heavy removal cheesy decks when i simply out boars state them when they've run out of their cowardly removal.

Ive stopped watching them entirely because every set release results in 2/3 of their videos for the month being nothing but a big ad for the new set.
