2 things. First, if you took the rear wheel off, the wide spacer goes on the drive side, narrow on disc side. Second, that safety guard on the sprocket acts like a bell and amplifies sound. I stretched 2 135mm OD 127mm ID 4mm wide o-rings around that safety ring and it deadened that sound. Huge difference. I got a 6 pack of those o-rings from Amazon for $8.

You’re a legend. I think I found your video on a Google search of this. My idea is to get some thin adhesive-backed foam. Should be able to stick it on and deaden the sound without having to pull the axle is my hope.

Hey bud, I've got a 2022 Grom and after getting the tires swapped the rear sprocket was grinding and shaving metal into the chain lube. It was unridable. So the bad news is that the OEM rear sprocket is unavailable to order, and there aren't many good choices for an aftermarket just yet. The good news is that I'm pretty sure a pre-2022 rear tire damper sub-assembly works on this wheel, so I've ordered that, a new chain, new sprocket, and new sprocket nuts. This should fix this issue. I went that route because my concern is that the damper sub-assembly is warped or incorrectly milled as it also wobbled with the sprocket on mine, so I'm knocking out as much of the issue as I can without replacing the entire rear wheel assembly. I hope this helps and you get yours working. Mine is sidelined until all of my parts come in. Also something to note, the rear axle was massively over torqued, as was my front...and other bolts, but the axle bolts were hulked on there.

Yep I’ve found the exact same thing on mine. I feel confident that my front wheel casting is out of round as well. It hops at 30-39mph and is aggravating. The factory tires were WAY out of round but the wheel is also out of round.

@@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding I just started riding a 2023 Honda monkey a few weeks ago. It has the loudest rear sprocket I have ever heard. I returned it to the dealer, they said chain was too tight but even after adjustment it's still loud. These Monkeys are very pricey for what they are. Disappointed so far. I`m likely going to replace rear sprocket and chain and see if that helps.

Ditch the stock sprockets and go with a 14 front and 31 back. Helps reduce a lot of rotational mass so you don’t sacrifice torque for higher speed.

Nothing wrong with the sprocket no sprocket is completely true it's the guard on the outside edge of the sprocket my cb 300 has same issue.
@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
The guard is not making contact with anything the wobble in the sprocket is rubbing the sides of the chain. As I make adjustments to the tension it gets better or worse but not adjustment makes it go away I spent hours working on this. It is no doubt the sprocket bent causing this. Well at least in my bike
@josephpuisis75673 жыл бұрын
@@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding I would still take guard off and try it if you can if it comes apart before spending any money on it. Plus I'd grease the bearings if nothing else works then it comes between you a the manufacturer. If bent that bad then you will have to deal with dealership and we both know what a pain in the ass that can be. I always try check everything if I can before dealing with the dealership. If they were bad right from the manufacturer it's always like pulling teeth trying to get them to replace it for nothing. Good luck
