Squeaky brakes are usually caused more by vibration between the brake pads and the contact points on the caliper. Likely needs a refresh of grease on those points.

Who is blockhead ? (In hopes blockhead sees this... I find it amazing how I get the same quality of content wether its Block or Erick, might be the fact that both of them are just natural when it comes to bike stuff, love bikes and share the knowledge)

There'll be plenty more of me in coming episodes, don't y'all worry. Surprised you're not tired of me yet, lol. And thanks for the kind words and support! Definitely one of the reasons I trust Erick on his own with these vids is b/c he's very natural and just "himself," something you all say to me often, haha. And he's also very meticulous about his work!

Nice vídeo! For chain adjustment, there is a piece that lines up with the chain and makes easier to see if it is adjusted. I do not usually trust on the lines from the adjust only. It is interesting to check that.

With the master link removed. use the master link or zipties to connect the new chain to the old chain and as you pull out the old chain you put the new chain on the front sprocket. then size the chain on the bike.

You forgot to tighten the two allen head bolts on the inside of the adjuster. I have the same ones on my Grom. Those two allen's slightly expand the adjuster locking it into the swing arm. That way they won't fall out when the axle is removed.

Do you need to change the adjusters when you change the chain?
@4Thug2Life02 жыл бұрын
No, people usually do since ur already working on the bike. U can change the chain to a new one and use stock adjusters.
@randy1john4 жыл бұрын
What was the purpose of the spools added to the chain adjusters at the end?
@BlockheadMoto4 жыл бұрын
The spools allow you to lift up the bike with a rear stand, making it easier and faster to do maintenance, such as chain tensioning, or even installs when you need the bike to set upright.

Sharp edge always faces out. Idea is the sharp edge can dig into the ends of the rivet and have a good hold. The smooth side can slip over the end of the rivet. Same with c clips. Like the one used on the throttle lever pin on Harleys. Sharp out. Probably a better explanation of it on Google some where.
@briarfox6372 жыл бұрын
Sharp edge always faces away from the load, in this case, the bike. You are correct. Also, the reason you do it with washers, etc, is the idea is the smooth edge does not dig into the painted surface or otherwise scratch and rust non painted surfaces. Sharp edges away from the load or surface, smooth edge towards the load or painted surface (bike).

Questions with that new chain in a few rides or so will you ever have like a break or dent in it ? If so is it easy to repair it with the extra chain part that you took off with ?
@BlockheadMoto4 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't break or dent. It'll 'break in' if that's what you mean, which will add to the slack of it, but all you have to do to fix that is adjust the chain tension with the new tensioners.
