I had an incredible time on the 110s. A total surprised. I was stunned about versatility. A felt totality comfortable in all conditions. Fun fun and easy. I am 5’8” and at 180 lb and thought the 180cm were the length for me.

I had to backfill the powder ski testing role since no one else wants to do it 😉Now I have to drag myself to mountain to ski all that pow.

Hey Jordan, love the content man. My wife and I have both bought our boots from y'all and I recommend you guys to anyone who is looking to buy their own gear. Hoping you can shed some light on my dilemma: I am torn between the QST Blanks and the Bent 110s. They seem similar on the surface, but the more I am diving into the weeds, they actually seem quite different. For reference, my wife and I head straight for the backbowls and tree runs, and I really enjoy freeride style skiing (think Markus Eder, but with 1% of the skill. He is who I enjoy watching the most). Last season was my first year ever with more than 5 days in one season (got in 16), so although I can enjoy anything on the mountain, I am definitely still fine-tuning form. What I lack in picture-perfect form, I make up for in bravery haha. Our home mountain is Copper, and we just booked a heli-skiing trip in Canada, so planning on really ripping it even more this season Here are the pros and cons as I see it Blanks: more metal construction may make it better for the conditions I most often see as a weekend warrior where even the best pow can get washed out pretty quickly. Love the pow, but have to be realistic on how often I actually get to be in snorkel-deep snow Bents: more playful and lightweight may be better for the tree runs and moguls that we often do. lighter build seems less well suited for groomers and crud, however 2nd dilemma is sizing (I am 5'10, 175 lbs), so i would go with either the 178 / 186 blanks or the 180 / 188 bents. Powder7 and others say to size up on the blanks, but on the Bent's you say to size down in your review. Just hard for me to really know what length I need Last dilemma is actually trying these out. The Christy Sports of the world do not have skis this nice or powder oriented to rent, and I cant find anywhere that will actually let me rent skis like this. Just hard to know "what I like" and "what I need" when I have been relegated to more mainstream rentals that are 100cm underfoot at most Thanks for reading my ramble and I hope to hear from you! Also open to suggestions if you think a different ski would suit me better

Hi Jacob, thanks for being a customer of our family business! That is indeed a tough call between the Bent 110 and the QST Blank. Both are super well loved skis at our shop. While I don't think that one is necessarily better than the other, I think in your case I'd go with the Bent 110 for two reasons. 1) The Bent 110 is basically an easy ski to ski and is forgiving to some mistakes. The QST Blank is a chargier ski to ski. Salomon does an excellent job of making the overall QST line accessible and easy to ski but the Blank does have some heft to it and can be a little demanding. So if last season was your first season getting in more than 5 days then I'd go Bent 110. 2) The sizing of the QST Blank can be tricky. We're basically the same height/weight and I felt really trapped between sizes for the Blank. I felt like it was a give and take, the 178 was clearly too short. But the 186 is long, especially considering it can be a demanding ski. On the flipside, the Bent 110 seems like a definite 180cm for you. Again, to me both of these skis are excellent skis but I think for you, the Bent 110 is what you're looking for. I hope that all of that helps and have a stellar season!

such a big fan of the Bents. Got my first pair of 100's 3 seasons ago and couldn't believe how nimble they were especially in the bumps which is what I enjoy doing. However, they blasted through crud and chop with ease and always feel stable. decided to PU a pair of Bent 90's this season and you can really let them rip on the groomers and in the bumps are super quick. looks like i'll need a pair of 110's in the near future for those deeper days! :)

Did you ski the volkl revolt 104 and of so how do they compare?

Hi great review of the ski I agree with everything you said. I did buy the 110 180cm with shift bindings fitted at -3 cm from true centre but felt the front of the ski is really short and that i could go over the handlebars. I'm 5'9 80kg not that interested in skiing switch just wanted a floaty ski for trees and powder. My previous ski was black crow atris which i found hard work it was 188cm so went shorter this time. My question is would it be worth mounting the bindings a little further back to give the ski a longer nose and stop the feeling of going over the handlebars and if so how much further back would make a difference? Steve

Hey Steven! That all makes sense to me--the Bent is a little softer and more easy to ski than the Atris, so sizing down combined with that totally makes sense for the OTB sensation. I think moving back a few centimeters would definitely give you more ski in front of you to work with. Typically when moving bindings, we start to notice a difference around 1.5cm-2cm. Considering how you're feeling on it, I wouldn't change the position more than 4cm (that'll really feel funky). I'd probably recommend moving back somewhere between 2-4cm (or -5 to -7cm from true center). The exisiting binding holes may determine where exactly you land. Hope that helps! -Alex

I’ve been skiing for years on Volkl Mantra M5s but decided to pick up a pair of bent 110s to have a more enjoyable time in the deep stuff. The Mantras have a -11.5 cm rec mount point, and the bent 110s have the rec mount point at -3cm. Would you recommend mounting these further back for someone coming from a more traditional ski?

Also plan to do some touring on them as well (shift bindings) - not sure if that factors into mount point choice.

All of this was at Steamboat and the backcountry in Northwest Colorado. DEEP season we're having as you can tell! Perfect for testing a ski like the Atomic Bent 110.

i have the volkl deacon 84. a bit of a stiffer ski, mainly for packed "iced" groomers.. i feel like the tails always catch, theres zero tail rocker. how do these compare, and how they hold againt some icy conditions?
@powder7skis
@powder7skis 9 ай бұрын
The Deacon is sweet! Definitely more hard-snow oriented. These skis are completely different from those. Loads more rocker and taper, lighter, and more soft-snow oriented. I would not ski them as my daily driver on hard-pack snow. But they'd be a nice second ski to go with a Deacon for when fresh snow falls. You could look at the Bent 90. Those handle groomers better while still for sure being more release-able in the tails and easier to work with than the Deacon.

@powder7skis that's what I was thinking. I like the Bent 110. If you think about it, which I don't get, the trails aren't packed all day. After an hour, they are crudded up. Which is why I think having a stiffer isn't all that great. I mean, packed groomers out in Colorado are different then packed groomers in Vermont. Still deciding. I'd like to keep the Deacons then have more a powder/cruddy snow type ski as well.. thanks man. Nice review.!

thought vs. k2 reckoner 112?
@powder7skis
@powder7skis Жыл бұрын
Great question! I just went back and hand-flexed both, and they're way more similar than I expected! The Reckoner has a softer tip, while the Bent's tail is a bit softer throughout. The Bent should feel quicker and a touch easier to slide and slarve with the softer tail, while the Reckoner might feel a bit smoother. I think they are super similar skis, and can't go wrong with either! -Alex
