Lots of people ordered more than one and just flipped the extra ones when the orders came in for a profit. The Maverick bubble is ending though. For model year 2023, the order banks closed in 9 days. For 2024, ordering is still open months later. Between the higher prices and increased production, it looks like they will catch up with orders in the Spring and they'll be sitting on dealer lots in the Summer.

Bought one of the first ones in my state. Went to a dealer that refuses to add to the sticker price. I frequently get 50mpg, but you have to remember to put it into eco mode. When you exit the vehicle, it resets. Get back in, have to re set back into eco mode. The only thing I do not like is the lack of built in navi. You are dependent on the Ford connect to your screen. This is a terrible interface, but it's terrible in all the Ford's . We had two cmaxs in the family and same problem. The bed is awesome, even though it's little. I do a lot of gardening, camping, etc, and it is nice to keep the mess outside. Great ride, super purchase.

yes, they really hit the nail and proceeded to create a fake demand by not making these enough giving dealers reason to add 10k in mark ups. so the price you are saving at gas station due to hybrid you are giving it to the scummy dealers. with Hyundai u get 10 less MPG but u can still close a deal a grand over MSRP if u are good negotiator. so Santa Cruz is a better deal atm, not to mention it drives way better than Maverick and has a nicer cabin.

I bought a 2022 XL Maverick last December. Presently have 17,000 miles on the clock. Get 32 mpg and am very satisfied with the vehicle thusfar. So satisfied i am seriously considering buying a 2024 XLT model which is better suited to my needs. If I wanted bell's and whistles I should buy a more expensive vehicle but with 40% worse mpg I would pay a lot more than just the buying price. Fuel costs will hound me for as long as I then drove this more expensive luxury small vehicle.

You couldn't equip the Black Appearance Package with the Spray in Bedliner because the BAP requires the Luxury Package, which in turn includes the Drop In Bedliner. The system doesn't seem to let you upgrade the Lux package to the spray in liner for the difference in cost. It's just an oddity with the way they've included the bedliner as part of a package. On the Lariat trim, the spray in liner is included with the Lux package instead of the drop in, so you can get the BAP and spray in liner together if you go up to the top trim level.

Why would you want spray over the drop in?
@krtwood
@krtwood 9 ай бұрын
They have a bad reputation because in the past when they were truly a one piece drop in liner it could cause the bed to rust out from the liner rubbing through the paint and trapping water against it. Or at least that's what people believed. Nowadays the liner is made up of separate panels that are all bolted to the bed so this shouldn't be as much of an issue. The spray in just looks like a more premium product as well and you can touch it up if it gets scratched up unlike plastic. @@reftrout75

We have had our 2023 Maverick Lariat Luxury hybrid for just under two weeks - after having ordered in September of 2022. So far, we love it. Our dealer played no games with the price - we were told $500 below MSRP when we ordered and that’s what we paid. The first full tank of gas yielded 39.3 mpg (hand calculated) with a mix of freeway driving, country roads, a little around town, including hauling a bunk bed set about 75 miles along the way. For that trip the 45 degree tailgate and a 2x6 in the forward bed slot made loading out no problem and all the tie downs meant it was easy to restrain the load. I agree with most of the reviewer’s comments on handling and so forth including that on the freeway it doesn’t feel nearly as stiff as it does at lower speeds. There has a been a service bulletin for the grabby brakes issue he talked about. I would expect recent builds of both power trains will have that resolved. The Lariat with CoPilot 360 has adaptive cruise control and it works very nicely. I’ve only rented vehicles with this feature before, but on our Maverick I will be using it a great deal as this will be our road trip vehicle (Kia Soul EV for most around-town stuff). If things go according to plan we’ll have put several multi-day road trips on it by this time next year, so will better be able to assess it then. Yeah, I wish 4WD was an option on the hybrid….and I’d like to see a plugin hybrid version with, say 50 miles of electric range. But that’s for later.

The earlier Ranger (or in my case Mazda B2200/B2600i) was what I was looking for - but it had to get better mileage, so greater than 32 MPG average, than the vehicle it replaced (2013 Mazda3 hatchback). I do miss the six-speed stick, though, as I knew I would. But with an electric motor in the mix, there’s really no place for manual gearbox, either in this hybrid or especially in a pure EV (our other car - which still has a big automatic shift lever-like device in the center console). I live in the city and would greatly benefit from the hybrid's fuel economy and lack of annoying shift-shock with its eCVT. The problem is, I only want a truck because I actually need a truck, and the bed is just too darn small. Of course, a bigger, more expensive truck would solve that, but that's just it. I don't want a bigger, more expensive truck than the 2007 GMC Canyon I currently drive. I want a small truck with a proper 6ft bed like I currently have. I would happily give up the 4-doors and backseat to make that happen with a Maverick. If the Maverick was a power tool, it would be made by Black & Decker. Inexpensive and good enough for small projects for the average DIY homeowner, but not suitable for people who actually need a real tool such as myself. A shame because the Maverick would otherwise be the perfect little truck for me with a 6ft bed.

Ford not making enough of these is by design. The low msrp means production is always booked. They’re trying to make you spend more on the F-150s, more on maintenance. The Maverick is excellent but it is used to keep the fleet mpg average up so they can keep selling you more F-150s. Ford isn’t stupid enough to cannibalize their money maker.

Exactly. Same reason the US won’t get the PHEV Ranger and why they won’t build an AWD hybrid Maverick, or AWD PHEV Escape. Oh and no tow package for the Mach-e in the US. It’s not that they can’t, it’s that they don’t want to eat into F150 sales and Americans are convinced they need a full size truck to commute in.

Had to stop the video in the first couple of minutes. The supply and demand argument is crazy. They are using resources to build other more expensive vehicles, Mach E, F150 loaded with options and those vehicles sit on the dealers lot, some sitting for over 200 days or more. People want the Maverick but the margins aren't as attractive so Ford cuts the supply of these vehicles, plain and simple. Aside from the Bronco, you can find any other Ford vehicle on a dealer lot and you don't have to order it.

I don’t think I’m a fan of this review. At the top you praise the price. Nearly 20k. That’s great for a certain kind of buyer. Then you start looking at a car that costs 50%(!!!!) more than the price you were promoting because it’s so reasonable. If this was a 50k car and you looked at a 60k priced model it wouldn’t be a big deal. But, if you were talking about what a bargain it was at 50k then we’re looking at a 75k model that would start to make less sense because percentage wise it’s a HUGE leap. Right? You don’t tell me this car gets 40mpg, then tell me how I should buy the version that gets 20mpg ….
@krtwood
@krtwood 9 ай бұрын
He said the Maverick USED to be 20k years ago and that was part of what people found so attractive. You cannot order a Maverick today for less than 25k. You cannot get the hybrid for less than $26.5k. They are looking at an XLT, one step up above base, which adds $3k, and the black appearance package that adds another $1.5k. The only differences between that $26.5k base model and the one they are reviewing are slight cosmetic changes. In fact as far as the interior goes, adding the black appearance package to the XLT trim mostly just turns it back into the XL base interior. So cosmetically it's even pretty close to the base model.

I’m confused, I see all these people complaining about maverick markups in part due to popularity and lack of availability and they proceed to gush about the Santa Cruz whose base model msrp is still a few grand higher? People just love to hate on American cars. I might be alone in saying this, but the tonka toy inspired styling alone would prevent me from considering the Cruz. Do a little research/stop being lazy, and it’s seems like you can track down a reasonably priced Maverick no problem. The caravana-age of car buyers is too funny.

The battery still charges up full and it's obviously lost some power but I'm still getting 35mpg. Not to mention the hybrid power train is really protecting the ICE because it's constantly operating at 30-60% instead of 70-90 ... It still runs so smooth. Seriously, a Hybrid Maverick should serve you for 400.000 miles EASILY, with proper maintenance (oil changes).

Very small vehicle actually and why in such huge demand and possibly explains the crazy high price. I would have used a tape measure to explain this to your audience and then head down to the local flower business or other "light and tight" inner city shop where parking is premium real estate. Some really good youtube videos of buyers customizing this machine similar to what goes on in the motorcycle world and what doesn't go on with almost any new vehicle builds these days...with absolutely none coming to mind besides the Ford Maverick for doing this not even the current even more insanely priced Jeep Wrangler lineup. I still would not be buying any new vehicle until the Tesla Cybertruck is fully released to the public and in full ramp up production mode as there is so much hype surrounding this machine that alone could sell hundreds of thousands of the vehicle. That would be far and away more than what Ford Maverick sells and Ford really needs to start making money big time and the Ford Maverick is about all there is at the moment that is doing that. Long way of saying I think there will be huge number of Ford Mavericks hitting dealer lots starting next year 2024. Verdict: buy an F150 instead if you're gonna "go there"
