Fantastic review and the best one I have seen for the Ping Hoofer. Your review is detailed and thorough. Only thing I would have like to of seen from a visual point of view, is to see you add your clubs, gloves, keys and other items. It would be nice to see how each compartment works and to demonstrate how everything fits in and if you battle with getting your clubs in and out. I’m trying to decide on one for my husband for Christmas and I was considering Ping hoofer , Ping hoofer 14 or Ping hoofer lite. He has a Ping cart bag already. I’m a bit clueless when it comes to golf bags and accessories so this review has been so helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for the review, I’ve been back and forth researching a few bags exclusively for walking, pulled the trigger on a Hoofer because of this video. Best bag I’ve had, absolutely no issues. No club tangle, everything drops into place when you pick it up. Great video!

Excellent review. I have researching this bag and it was great to see all the pockets and how they are used. Most importantly getting feedback and views on the club divider i.e. 5 vs 14 way. This review helped me decide to purchase the Ping Hoofer.

I just bought one, used it for the first time on course yesterday! Definitely more comfortable than my previous TaylorMade bag after walking 18 holes. I think I should have bought the Hoofer Lite as I don’t need all those pockets. I live on n Western Australian and rarely take an umbrella or rain gear. Maybe a couple of times a year only. Quality of manufacture is excellent. Very good materials used. Design is excellent but a couple of things I don’t like are the pivoting base which causes the wedges to jump up 2-3 inches and the clubs do not go in and out freely as they seem to stick in the base. Those diving ridges take up valuable space in the bottom of the bag and contribute to the clubs getting jammed against each other. I know that’s a design trade off but they could have made the base diameter larger or just removed those ridges. But if it annoys and distracts you every time to pull out a club and replace it then it’s not properly functional and needs fixed. I have 13 clubs normally. At the top end of the bag I put driver, fairway and hybrid in the top left and just the putter in the top right and that’s to ensure easy pull out every time. I would like to see a six way divider and three handles at the top. If you look at the TaylorMade bags you will see the three handles and I use the two side ones when I am walking and lifting the bag between the cars in the garage. Just saying. Anyway it’s only one round played and I will see how we go. Overall I am 8/10, just reduced for that crowded base issue.

Great feedback!!! Please keep us posted as you go. I would like to see the changes you suggested as well- other brands like Vessel, Ghost have sorted out the top situation- I’m hoping Ping gets its dialed in as well.

Great insight. It is the inside base dividers that is causing the biggest problem now that I think about it. I felt if the dividers would go all the way down to the base stead of leaving the grips exposed it would prevent Sticking when when putting clubs in and out but the club grips get caught in the raises divider sections too. Wonder of this can be fixed by tubes or to cut off the plastic dividers inside?
@modrngolf Жыл бұрын
@@aarontooley570 not sure about tubes. Thanks for the comment.

@@modrngolf now that I have used it a few time I am getting used to the way it works but I have realised that it is due to the pivoting base. When it pivots it bunches the grips together and they jam against each other. The solution is to do away with the pivoting base. The bag is great otherwise and I am sticking with it (pun intended).

Great, in-depth review! Two questions: Do the double straps get in the way when putting the bag on a riding cart? And is there a video showing how to convert if from two straps to just one? (I don't carry my clubs much but do like the bag stand).
@modrngolf Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message. I didn’t show that on this one- perhaps on a future video- it’s super easy to do. And the double straps do not get in the way at all. Ping makes a great bag. Thanks!!

Terrific review. Have you messed with the Hoofer Lite at all? Any idea how significant the weight difference is, not just on a scale but how it feels walking a round? I’m trying to decide between them and sort of stuck. On one hand, I walk nearly every round I play, so the Hoofer Lite seems like the right call there. On the other hand, it’s a long Midwestern winter here, and I like to have room over these months to load up my bag with training aids, winter layers, etc. for trips to the range when it’s above freezing - which seems like an argument for the Hoofer. I also think that cactus colorway on the Hoofer looks awesome. I’m stuck, but would love to hear any advice or thoughts! (And maybe I’ll just end up buying both … my wife would not be happy, though!)

I haven't purchased a bag since 2007 so forgive me if this is a dumb question... Do the shoulder straps still retract into the bag? I loved that about my old Hoofer. I would purchase the 2007 model again if I could find one, but I just purchased one of these online and made the assumption that was still a feature.

I’m a Ping fan and have owned tons of Ping equipment and it pains me to say I prefer my Ghost bag over this current Hoofer. I’m sure I’m in the minority when I say that for me it has too many pockets/ nooks and crannies. I would need a map of the pockets. It becomes a scavenger hunt for me just to find what I’m looking for. I’m playing golf not going on a Trans Continental excursion. Keep it simple Ping. Great in depth review!

It’s a great bag- has a ton of pockets and storage. Is it better than the high end bags? I’d say no, but it’s also half the price. I prefer the SM due to size of top and details.

The hip pad feature should be re-designed and the club jam, club tangling problem is a deal breaker. The bottom design base doesn’t work when the dividers don’t ho all the way down and attach to the base. I wanted to love this bag but sent it back
