It's basically for the same rule as you don't put electric wires in ventilation through a house or cut through it because if it's energized in any way either through electrical wires or through ground wires and there is an electrical charge on it that causes a spark or fire it could ignite inside the exhaust area and throughout the house.😊😊😊

Love your explanations Ryan. Licensed Wyoming electrician here; been on an extended "hiatus." I do keep my State license up to date. I will say this: funny how quickly one gets "rusty" on the codes. Your videos are going to be my go-to when I get serious about freshening up. . .

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!! I have some questions; What happens with the grounding of ladder trays and metallic wire ways? Should I grounded them? How can I do that?

An electrician on one of our projects terminated his 2-inch primary and secondary conduits to the ventilation mesh in the bottom plate of a dry-type transformer. I imagine that this is a violation of 450.9? Seems to be the same theme as 250.64(G). Knocking out holes in the mesh appears to also violate the manufacturer's designated access areas.

So can I run the Grounded Conductor through the ventilation hole? Maybe an EGC? They should just state that no conductors may be run through a ventilation hole.

So you'd be running the grounded conductor outside of a raceway separate from the other ckt conductors? Maybe a bonding conductor for the flex but thats about it

No GEC, ok. What about GE's? Example, ground rod installed or rebar (min requirements met), turned up out of pad for access before pad poured and transformer anchored? GE's through ventilation holes. No GEC going through ventilation. GEC internally connected in enclosure. I know I may be being petty, but I've seen both examples in the field. Does the code address this type installation?
