Excellent review. You have captured all of the key information about this bike. I like the lower screen on the Africa Twin because it conveys the essentials to the rider. You can also add soft luggage pannier racks as well. Love my Africa Twin.

Great review constructive conclusion as always. I have a 2021 ATAS ES plus manual, comes with all the luggage inner bags, wind deflectors, engine bars and centre stand. 2 years in I love it, it's a keeoer. I use a handlebar bag for the phone to link up even though I have a tank bag just fond it easier. If you go to user 2 set the power to max and engine braking to minimum the throttle will seem way smoother

If you have the DCT the blinker switch is perfectly placed as the thumb comes up off the downshift button onto the indicator naturally, very nice when coming up to an intersection

I gotta correct you at 9:44 . You can’t edit Tour, Urban, Gravel and Off-road modes on it. You can only configure User1 and User2 modes. But you can set the overall compression rebound and damping on ES version. I have the ES DCT Adventure Sports MY22. I adore the bike. My biggest regret is getting the ES version as I am quite heavy (125kg, 20 stones) ATM. I would rather get the non-ES version and use the saved money to buy suspension that fits me and my riding style. Other than that - the bike is simply marvelous. Edit: 13:06 - regarding the jerkiness of the throttle. It’s a slight annoyance but it’s way smoother on power mode one click less than the one on Tour Mode. Switch to Urban and the jerkiness is gone.

Hi, can you explain why do you regret electronic suspension? How your weight affect the suspension? I am wondering in switching my CRF1100 manual suspension to CRF1100 AS electronic suspension, but your comment is interesting tbh. I would like to change it because high speed damping is very harsh for me (I am about 120 kg while in helmet, jacket, pants and shoes.

Great video as usual guys. I got my my bike in August last year with the manual gearbox and electronic suspension. The switchgear is easy to use once you get used to it so ignore the people who slag it off!! Handles really well and plenty of power when needed. Without a doubt the best looking adventure bike out there as it has always been😁👏🏻

I rode the 23 v storm 1050de. I was very impressed by the smooth engine and power! Very comfortable to ride. Then I hopped on the AT dct base model.....blew me away! I want a thumpy twin, low down torque, it gave me that! It absorbed the bumps so much better, knee down on corners, front end up powering out! I felt I was on a BMX with an engine! My only worry is tubed tyres! I'm hoping I enjoy the adventure sport just the same, but the larger tank maybe a problem off road in stand up stance. I find out tomorrow!

@@RiderCamTV bless you! Well I rode the ATAS es manual. Now I know it's the ATAS es dct for me! The extra size isn't a problem for me. Great looking bike! Probably go for a 2021/ 22 very low miles with a few extras on it! Be about £15k! Also rode the ktm 1290sas, it's a ballistic missile, nothing off roading about it! Pegs are to small to stand up, soooooo much heat from the engine, was very hot! Hard seat, low bars, but fast....very very rapid! Not for me thou! It's been 3mths of research, utube, adventure forums etc etc! The only reason I not going for the Africa twin base model is the tubed tyres! I don't wanna spend £2500 getting wheels for tubeless tyres! Just got a save a little more!

I have one, had it for 6 months now, I fit a quick shifter, its lovely. Two things the buffeting, optional extras pyramid cover on tank over forks, puig little deflector screen and hond optional wind deflectors £250 to sort, but perfect now. The controls are my only gripe but sorted eventually. 1" bar risers and twist the left grip up to make the controls usable. I was forever putting hazards on or pressing horn rather than indicators. Lovely bike, I went for Honda as I have a BMW boxer, I love the bike and especially engine but didn't want Two bikes same. Shaft drive ride and forget were as I forgot how much hassle and time a chain takes errr. Positive you can run it with absolutely no detrement to performance or engine on cheep e10 supermarket petrol.

If you’re weighing more than 100KG and you put protection bars on it, or if you run it with full set of panniers it’s really not worth going for ES. I have the ES DCT MY22 and I can’t wait to replace the springs on it. It’s made for a rider of 70-80kg. I’ve put 15kkm on it since July last year, and it’s otherwise a perfect bike. But no one can expect a perfect fit for all from factory.
@Old1Biking Жыл бұрын
@@Honda_Africa_Twin The only reasons I was considering the Adventure Sports version was the new adjustable windscreen and the tubeless tires. Everything else I can easily add to the regular twin and I don’t need the larger fuel tank. I have spent hours reading reviews and youtube videos and it seems that everyone is having trouble with wind buffeting on the regular twin.
@danman5857 Жыл бұрын
@@Honda_Africa_Twin , so did you ride both the manual and DCT version? How did you make your decision? What really stood out for you that made you choose DCT over manual? I think about 1/2 of all AT sold are DCT so there must be something special about it. Would you ever go back to manual if you updated to a newer AT in the future?

At seventy, with more than fifty years of riding long and hard, one of my bikes is an AT DCT. In my opinion, it’s a good motorcycle made great by the DCT. The main reason I won’t buy a 2023 model is because I want to know when the next generation AT will be released. The DCT has already had two evolutions (three if you include the most recent software update) and it now works better with the bike as a whole. What could be next makes me hesitant to buy what’s available now. As for the manual version? It’s nice but not for me; for the same price there are more engaging bikes out there.

Too tall for my vertically challenged legs. And always thought the front wheel looked too far away from the main body to make it ascetically pleasing, plus the switchgear is too fussy. Makes my old GS switch gear look stone age in comparison. It covers my three-strike rule so I was never going to get one.

33:11 Has to be one the most stupid designs on a bike of all time, leaving the indicators on as running lights. So if there's a car waiting to pull out of a junction and just glances right without much thought (as people often do!) and sees the indicator light is on they're going to think you're indicating left and pull out. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs shooting with their own shit! Just put normal white running lights on like every other vehicle and if there isn't a way to turn this feature off then this alone would stop me buying this bike.
