This was one of those BMWs where I wasn’t sold on the front end, but I’ve really grown to like it. It has such F off energy.

Are we just praying they can't get traction? This falls short of the slowest hellcat (the Durango), a C8 or any of the potent 911 trims. I'll give you the base 911 though as it's pretty slow (as seen in the cybertruck video)... this will certainly beat that.

@@S8ER exactly, with awd this will beat those off the line unless they get a perfect launch. This’ll do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds every time (source caranddriver 2021)

@@jakes5530 The Durango Hellcat (which I’m guessing you didn’t include when you said hellcats) is another half second quicker to 60 on the street (just as an FYI). The cars have tons of traction issues on the street though so you’re not wrong in that context.

I love older Alpinas, real sophisticated sleepers. can you configure the instruments to dials? I'm not liking the 'gamer-laptop' graphics for speed and revs.

@@jakes5530 well yeah, considering they're a step above all of the class of cars you mentioned lol. Alpina, Brabus, and... I guess the ABT RS cars? The last isn't quite on the level of Alpina and Brabus though

Alpina was fully bought out by BMW. These vehicles are the end of the line for what we know as Alpina. I’m confident BMW will water it down and these vehicles will become incredibly valuable.

Fantastic luxurious interior , the ride seems a lot smoother than in a BMW X7 . 145 grand is a lot but the interior , engine tweaks , wheels , brakes seem worth the price .

They should bring the X3 Alpina to the US considering how every reviewer complains about how stiff the suspension is in the X3, especially in the X3M and X3 M40i with the larger wheels. Alpinas are tuned to be a lot softer. Dont need a sporty harsh ride in a family SUV. Bumpy ride in the back seat makes kiddos carsick.

I find the difference between what RPM the engine is doing and what the tachometer actually shows really irritating.

Didn’t even notice it showed rpm. All the latest BMWs nowadays with iDrive 8 or newer show ‘power usage’ from 0-100% like on a Rolls which just seems wrong for an internal combustion engine.

@@TheTopher yeah, I think they’ve been doing that since they ditched their analog clusters. I wonder if there’s a way to code them to show actual RPM, I haven’t seen that anywhere.

yeah, the ui isn't very good, is it. we gained nothing by replacing physical gauges with digital screens. on the contrary. but hey, you can project your map onto the cluster, so that your eyeballs get spared from moving an inch.

My mother's getting a small crossover for her next car purely due to back issues (she'd stick with a sedan otherwise), and the height that adds would make it easier to get in. So that's a reason. Also for big families, but they have the option of minivans too. Either way, there are valid reasons for wanting/needing them, even I think very few buyers actually have any reason for it.

@@ElliWoelfin i mean, the range of this car is really puny. i understand that gas prices in the states aren't that much of an issue, but 16 mpg is a hog. and does an older lady really need 0-60 in 2 seconds? the obnoxious kids sitting in the back might shut up after losing bloodflow to their brains from the force, but still, feels weird to join together an enthusiast's engine with a family cruiser.

In my opinion, I would’ve chose the Durango Hellcat back In 2021 as one fully optioned would’ve been $90K. But I’m looking at the Alpina XB7 as a better value now because a fully optioned 2023 Durango Hellcat (With basically no changes) now is $111K…..
