Any recommendations for upgrades/mods? I’m looking at the smart carb to reduce some of the ‘post crash bogging’
@mwzimmer Жыл бұрын
The mods I've done are BRP hand gaurd mounts Mfg Part# BMI-9254 . AXP skid plate, Boano shark fin PDPBB1013, Bullet Proof rad gaurds. I recently purchased a Fmf factory fatty & 2.1 sparkaresstor but I honestly don't expect much if any gains. My bike is a 22 Race edition which has a different head if you look up the part#. I know there's been talk about carb float adjustment and running longer breather hoses etc. I've only crashed a few times and haven't noticed anything unusual with the bike loading up etc. I've honestly only had to turn my idle up a pinch and that's it....bike runs excellent even at 40-1 using motul 800 prefixing gas.

I had an Xtrainer for 3 years with the Nissin brakes and now a GasGas EC300 with the Braketec. The Braketecs have a much softer feel as they come on. Total braking power seems just as good but you’ll need to pull the lever in or push the pedal down further to get to full braking. Especially the front brake. I think the Braketec setup is probably friendlier for learning, and I do like the rear brake feel a lot, but I’m thinking of putting the Brembo on the front.
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
Great feedback, I have a few mates on current gasgas and they don't seem to mind braketec. I guess it really depends on what style of riding.

Hey you was talking about stock jetting, I got a 23 200rr and it's spitting 2t oil out of the exhaust coupling at higher speeds. Have you had anything like that? Seems to me that the bike is running rich
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
No I'm only 6-7h in now and I haven't had any oil coming out my exhaust. I wouldn't be surprised if the bike is a little rich, I know my dealer jets the bike before sale which also includes a different needle but this is all provided for by Beta. Maybe worth asking your dealer. I'll let you know if there is a change after I run the bike on an MX track.

Great review! Seems like Beta has really sorted the '23 300RR. So coming off a KTM 300TPI bike I am curious about your feelings about the engine vibration level - KTM really set the bar with the counterbalanced 250/300's from 2017 on. How does the vibration of your '23 300 Beta compare? You said the engine is perfection yet in the comments you are considering a Smart carb - is there another reason you want a SC besides post crash bogging fix? Be curious if you get a chance to ride a '23 KTM 300XC TBI and compare engines - the electronic PV with EFI really changes the character of that engine with the push of a map switch. Looking forward to more of your videos!
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
Its a great point and something I'm going to talk about in the next vid. KTM/Gasgas/Husky have nailed engine vibration...Beta have counterbalanced but there is still a lot of vibration. I don't even notice the vibration after 1min into riding. I also haven't got arm pump at all on the Beta but I used to get mad arm pump on my KTM 2020 300 tpi. My un-scientific theory is that a little vibration helps distal perfusion of my arms which reduces arm pump. I haven't ridden the TBI yet however the best engine I've tried was a 2022 EC300 tpi (Gasgas) which has a twostrokeperformance low compression head, ECU flash, and injector relocation kit as well as the oil delete kit. Incredibly smooth engine, impossible to stall, chugs up everything. Great engine but I still prefer the snap of the Beta in comparison. I'll tinker with everything which is why I'll probably end up trying a smart carb but thats going to be far in the future. All I'll be interested in is if I can minimise the post crash bog from too much fuel getting into the engine. Not much jetting can do to help this and I doubt the smartcarb will have a huge difference either. Love the questions, now I have lots to go test! Legend
@mxengineer1 Жыл бұрын
@@hungrychinp Thanks for the detailed response! Interesting thought about vibration reducing arm pump - perhaps the stock KTM Neken handlebars were too stiff or simply AER forks transmitting too much energy into your arms? The '23 300 TBI engine sets a new bar for 2-stroke engine performance in my book. The throttle body EFI combined with electronic power valve makes the partial throttle torque response very strong and quick yet linear and amazingly controllable. From lugging in 1st gear at zero RPM to 4th gear braps over tabletop jumps to 60 mph wheelies in 6th gear and no jetting required...hope you get to ride a 300 TBI soon;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH2Yf4OOma2VoMU
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
Great feedback thanks mate! I'm not someone stuck in my ways with old technology so I really hope TBI is as exceptional as the reviews have it out to be. Having said that it is annoying not being able to MAP your own bike and relying on so much electronics. We will eventually get to a point where you have to pay a subscription to your ECU software updates and engine MAP'ing.
@mxengineer1 Жыл бұрын
@@hungrychinp Like you (and being an engineer) I enjoy tinkering with EFI mapping (the Yamaha GYTR phone app is fun, myKTM connectivity unit works too). Having said that I have to admit KTM did a pretty good job out of the box with the 300 TBI maps. Map 1 is while fast has a smooth and tick slower power build and about 2 less peak HP. Map 2 builds power more quickly (yet still controllable) and pulls longer up top. I've got about 14 hours on my 23 300XC so far in various conditions and have to admit I have no specific things I would want to change between the (2) maps though I hope KTM brings back the myKTM connectivity unit so I can try some different mapping.

Price was one reason, I also wanted a soft stock suspension and I'd been told by some testers that the racing was a little too aggressive for the terrain I ride in. So far I've been super happy but would probably grab the racing when I upgrade
@DMC-179 Жыл бұрын
Nice bike! I don´t like the screws, plastics and wiring compared to gasgas (or ktm, husky). If you choose the racing version, you have to mix your gas by yourself.. don´t like this. Would´nt choose the normal version in my weight class between 90 and 100 kg. The other thing about the suspension: The kyb is one of the best suspension today. Like the ergonomics on the beta better. The bike feels like it´s smaller and the standing position is better by standard, without any changes on the pedals. Enginewise the RR is simply better than a stock gg, ktm, hsq. I´ve had to take some more money to fix that on my gasgas. (Coober ECU/Head) Moneywise it doesnt matter. Here in Germany the gasgas, ktm and husqvarna bikes are more stable in pricing if you want to sell it. I like both and both bikes have advantages and disadvantages. had some issues with my xtrainer from 19, thats why i´ve chosen the gasgas.
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
Gasgas is an excellent bike and reasonably priced. I found my beta has better quality bolts than ktm but I don’t like their wiring as much. The racing version is just a little too much aggression for the hard enduro - although I’m sure you could tune it down. If you are still running the gasgas you should look into the twostrokeperformance injector relocation kit. Best mod you can do to a tpi
@DMC-179 Жыл бұрын
@@hungrychinp I thought theres no difference about the motor between racing and normal RR. Injector relocation kit - Did you try it? Whats the differences you’ve noticed?
@hungrychinp Жыл бұрын
@@DMC-179 no there's actually massive differences between the Racing and RR. They have a different powervalve, different compression head and there is a bunch of machining done on the engine to make it more aggressive. As with the injector relocation kit...its honestly one of the single best upgrades you can do to the tpi. The power is smooth and somehow the bike doesn't want to stall. I have three mates that all have the relocation kit (ktm, husky and gasgas) and they all say the same thing!

Just put some high speed braking time on the Nissin and I would say the Brembo may have a edge above Nissin. The Nissin help up fine, didn't lock up or boil over (yet) but I found the brake fluid expanded more in the front brake and would create almost like a pulsating feeling in the lever...more testing to be done!
