I'm looking at this 2020 r1250r, and test rode it recently, it has so much torque, I didn't even need to get 3/4 on the throttle to feel incredible torque

I love it... out of curiosity where do you think this engine sits? is it faster than a sports bike on the road in the real world?

Not faster but as quick especially on B roads. Would be killed by sometime in track but I don't do track days so not an issue.

Been riding bikes of all types since 1979, including a sports straight 4 (GSXR750R). Have had a R1250R since 2021, and it is the best bike I have ever had. It is the torque, it just pulls at low revs, and every time it puts the smile on my face. However, if you are into revving the engine/playing through the gears for the power, don't buy. It handles extremely well, but best for a afternoon fast rides on twisties, powering out of bends. A long journey on a motorway is a waste.

To be honest I didn’t try the alternative seat… the higher seat was perfect for me although did put a little more pressure on my wrists as slightly changes the angle of the seating position

I see that you have the sport seat (840 mm). How do you find it? Hard, soft, medium? Do you have any fatigue because of the sport seat and stock height handlebar? Do you feel any pain? Thanks for the answers. Cheers.

Trading in my GS for the 1250r. The torque on the R is sublime. Oodles of torque from low down, the GS cannot compete. Dynamic seems to be the way forward for smooth shifting, heavy braking on front will engage rear brake and a feature that disables accidental throttle if heavy on front brake. 45 degrees is max lean angle before you start introducing the heads to the ground (it is a lot lower than the GS) - I think drops by 40mm on front and 80mm on rear (don't quote me). Both wheels on R are 17" plus no telelever on front. Going for the R over the RS as the castor angle (or something) is different on the RS, test drive both (I was given choice of buying the R after a test drive and the RS without, and I went with the R). Getting a few extra bits from Wunderlich like a mud catcher on the rear to prevent crud on the rear shock, a metal grill to protect the rad and a bit of plastic to prevent corrosion low down on the front of the engine. All in all, get out and try one as when I was driving the R, I could feel the power of the torque just waiting to be unleashed.. Driving in traffic on the motorway is grand, but if you go faster, you will feel the lack of wind protection.. but the air is clean and refreshing.

I'm also looking to do the same. GS1200 TE 2019, I find it too big of a bike and adv bikes in the UK never go off road. Myself included. So wanting the 1250R or Rs. Yet to ride either. I'm hoping a screen can be fitted to the 1250R to reduce some wind as I plan on riding it all year round.

@@inked-96 why did you buy a GS in the first place? You knew you wouldn't go off-road. There are plenty of screens for the R. Like the Marathon one. So you should find what you're looking for.

only noticeable when walking with the bike tbf, once it's moving it's grand, and the weight helps in the recent stormy winds.
