Just picked up a 2015 R1200R and I’m loving it. Great bikes.

I can't decide between this one and the Oxford Aqua T8. The Oxford seems to be nowhere near as robust, but it should do the job and is just half the price.
@mikemills51448 күн бұрын
I had one of these, exactly like yours. I loved the bike but it hated me, burned out the clutch, wrecked the transmission, leaked oil from both the engine as well as the driveshaft. When I traded it in a year later I got half of what I paid for it. Ouch. On paper it was the best bike but sure didn't work out thst way. I still miss it but don't miss being constantly stranded and at the side of the road.

I would recommend upgrading the front brake pads for EBC aftermarket. The bike comes with Brembo pads, but they lack the initial bite that I prefer. Just had front calipers overhauled after 3/4 winters of use. New EBC pads fitted. Braking is much better in terms of power and feel. The front forks are now earning their keep. The only other issue is the electronic fuel cap sticking when the bike has gone onto reserve. There seems to be quite a bit of tank pressure. Just have to wait a few minutes for the pressure to go down. As still under warranty will get this looked at. Apart from that it has been flawless. Gets ridden through winters and not cosseted.

Burning oil already! When you opened the video with you revving it in the garage, clearly oil was being burned. Too bad. How many miles were on it when you recorded that scene?

Nick mate I’m afraid it has :-( … a tough choice and I’m not actually convinced I prefer the s1000rr but I wanted to get a sports bike out of my system if that makes sense… I genuinely do miss the 1250r :-(
@nickhignett94213 күн бұрын
@ I was thinking of doing the same but for the s1000r, but I have moved house and the insurance quote was crazy £2500 so I will stick with the R for now. Great looking bike enjoy 😎🤘
@marksgaragestuff13 күн бұрын
Yeah the insurence was a killer for me too… to be honest the r1250r for me would be the way to stay with mate …it has the same insane acceleration up to 100 and let’s face it after that speed it starts getting treacherous + instant ban… that being said it is surprising comfortable

I rode a 2021 Rocket 3 with only 2 modifications: ECU deristricted and removal of the rear license plate holder at the Bonneville Salt Flats August 2024. No other changes other than those required for safety and we got a best of 152 mph on the salt surface. The high torque motor was tough to modulate on the slippery salt surface and there isn't any place to hide when riding but it was stable the whole way. This August we will take the same bike with a exhaust system that is lighter and is better flowing the stock system from 2024. There is a video on my channel from August 2024 showing the record run.

Nice one dude how are you getting on with it now?
@American_Devil21 күн бұрын
@ honestly feels so natural to me. I watch a lot of videos, particularly videos where the rider screws up and has a close call or a low side. I analyze the footage to see where they went wrong so I’ll know not to do what they do. I’m a fast learner. I started on the new 2025 ninja 650 but wish I would’ve just gotten the 1000sx.

On my third Street triple. 675R, then a 2017 STRS which was a huge leap for mankind in the world of Striples…. 😂 now on a Sept ‘23 cosmic yellow RS - evolution of the 2017 model. I have had super sport bikes, loads of ZX6R’s, gixers, 848 Evo, fireblade, and currently have in my garage this bike, 2010 R1 big bang, Triumph Speed Twin 1200 and a Honda Monkey. By far the best all round, everyday, useable road bike, ever! Well, IMO. And very reliable…. Fully specced up inc. full Zara exhaust. Buy one, or at least try one. Great review. PS - 2010 R1 is always an occasion!
